Heroes of Rokugan

It is with regret that we must announce that Heroes of Rokugan will not be attending Origins Game Fair 2024.

Unfortunately, we experienced significant difficulties in coordinating with the event staff. Some of them were manageable, such as using the wrong name for our organization or scheduling our events in the wrong order. However, we were unable to receive confirmation of housing for our volunteer GMs, and that is not something we can fix or adjust on site.

The modules that were planned for release at Origins will be shifted to GenCon, and the interactive shelved for now. The GenCon slate may need adjusted as well, but that can be managed at the convention (as we have never experienced these sorts of problems there).

We will consider future participation in Origins, if these issues can be managed in a more timely fashion in the future.

For those of you who had already registered for our events, it is our hope that we have given you enough time to get refunds. We had hoped, until the last minute, that we would receive the information we requested, but we cannot delay this decision any further in good conscience.

Please understand that we are greatly disappointed in this turn of events We are extremely happy that so many new people have been expressing an interest in the campaign in the last few months, and we know that Origins was one of the things that drew you in. If we could have made this work, we would have.

We're looking forward to seeing you at Gen Con!
They've placed us back in the JW, a room familiar to us from past years and we hope to see all of you that we can!

We have a number of modules being released at Gen Con and as always our Open Library to help new and returning players play previously released modules. If you haven't, we highly suggest checking in on our discord to make sure you have access to the latest information in the Campaign Primer. (Especially useful to our new players who'll be joining us at Gen Con!)

For those of you attending Gen Con, at the time of posting this there are 42 tickets left for the Battle Interactive and 40 tickets left for the Political Interactive. Both the Battle and Political Interactives have electronic tickets at this Gen Con, based on our positive experience with electronic tickets in the past.

We will endeavor to honor generic tickets as we have in the past, but can only do so up to the number of GMs available!

Heroes of Rokugan 5: Soul of the Empire

The year is 1038 of the Isawa Calendar, the 7th of the reign of Hantei # # . The Empire has known peace and prosperity for centuries. War between the clans has been limited in recent memory; the only major incident in the last Emperor's reign was a wide-spread uprising at the turn of the millenium, put down in short order by the lmperial Legions. The current Emperor is both strong and popular, respected for his ability to balance the traditions of the Empire with the needs of compassionate rule, and the clans respect his authority.

Until the Heavens shatter.

Now, most of the leadership of the Empire has perished, leaving a Regency Council to rule in the name of the infant heir to the throne. The clans are unsettled, their champions suddenly thrust into positions they were not expecting or prepared for. Conflict in this time of chaos is inevitable, but there is no clear target to place the blame on - and for many samurai, there is no clear purpose without a strong Emperor to follow.

You stand among the shards of destiny, and whether you are one of the direct agents of your clan champion or you follow one of the Regents to help stabilize Imperial authority, Rokugan's fate is in your hands. Will you seek glory? Will you follow the path of honor? Will you claim power, in your lord's name - or your own?

The Empire is in need of Heroes. Will you heed the call?

Heroes of Rokugan 5: Soul of the Empire will use the Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying game produced by FFG and Edge.

It's been a couple weeks, so time to say a few things somewhere that's not Discord?

Heroes of Rokugan IV has been a huge part of my life these last few years. Now that it's over, it's like there's a hole in my brain that I can't yet quite figure out how to fill. This is weird for me: I've been involved with volunteership for Heroes of Rokugan for twelve years. I have been an admin for half of them. And as of August 4th... I became just another player (this is not saying you won't see me in the GM chair again, but breaks are always wise as I've come to learn).

This community means a great deal to me. Though I'm leaving it from a creative standpoint, I will play with this community so long as it is kind enough to tolerate me. Your support these past six years has been everything to me, and helped me through when pure motivation couldn't do it. Thank you so much.

Here is what we have so far planned for Memories in Rokugan, November 11-14th, held on our discord!

While we would have loved to work with Midwest Game Fair like we do annually, we understand the difficulties they are facing this year. We still need to move the story forward, and want to spend the weekend hanging with our people, even if it has to be virtually. As such, we will be organizing on Discord as we have for this past year.

Here is where we are currently for the mods for those asking. Many of the names will be finalized when the mods are finished. As we do not have to submit them to a convention for official publications, the guys often wait to see what Feels right.

We are asking for a site cost of $5 per person, which will be donated to Toys for Tots in the organizations name for the event.

On June 23, 2021, our community lost an amazing member.

It's tough for me to put into words how much Jeriel meant to the community. He was a bright, vibrant personality, and left a lasting impression on everyone he spoke with for even a short time. His eternal optimism, grace in the face of adversity, and desire to make everyone feel included is a loss we can never truly replace.

Funeral information for Jeriel is in the link above, along with information if you would like to send flowers to the funeral home. Please keep him and his family and friends in your thoughts.
