Rack Pull issues??? In my opinion rack pulls can be one of the hardest movements to really get the right feeling in the lats. Maybe it’s just me but if I’m not alone then you should try these. This is a Hammer Strength shrug/lunge machine. I feel like the neutral grip helps me drive my elbows back at a better angle to get more lat contraction at the top. This was my last set of 6 reps. My final set was a cluster set where I did 6 rest for 20sec, failure rest for 20 sec, one more to failure then on to the next movement. Shout out to for the gym gear. The shorts are really comfortable and the tank breaths well and sweat dries quick.
When you love what you do you laugh and smile. You also laugh when an unintended fart 💨 comes out during a heavy set and everybody hears it. Can anyone relate?🙋🏽♂️
Surprisingly good pump considering carbs are lower. It felt great to force my self to go hard in the gym today. Probably one of the best workouts I’ve had in a while. You see this game is mostly mental. You can force your body to go farther than you think. The hardest part is doing it every day with consistency.
6 weeks out as of yesterday. We have 3 shows planned at 2 weeks apart each. I’ve never done three shows in a season before. It’s all about finding the right pace right now so that I don’t burn my self out and have a faded look towards the end. This is somewhat challenging because calories are just above 2000 at this point on most days with a weekly cheat meal or refeed day. Cardio is at 50min daily. My goal is to cut another 5-6 lbs over the next 6 weeks then pull water and possibly fast I order to make weight. My lowest weight during the week was 208.6 so shooting for 207.6 this week.
Cable fly’s have always been one of my absolute favorite chest exercises. I like them so much because you can hit a ton of different angles with these. I like this angle most of the time but I will also incorporate an incline bench or do chest scoops. These are great after a major press movement to really stretch things out plus you can really squeeze your chest until it feel like it’s gonna pop.
I’ve been finishing my two back days each week with 3-5 sets of biceps. These dumbbell curls really help get the inner head pumped. I start with a neutral grip at the bottom then rotate my hands as I come up. The goal is to rotate your wrists a good bit in order really squeeze the inner part of your bicep. I followed these up with two sets of good ole ez bar 21’s.
Leg session number one for the week is in the books. Wednesday’s are my heavier leg day while Saturday is higher reps with more volume and shorter rest periods. I train quads and hams together on both days. In the last 6 weeks or so I’ve begun every training session with a hamstring exercise first and usually finish with a hamstring movement as well. Note: Leg press and squats feel really good when the hamstrings are good and warm. These dumbbell stiff leg deads are what I finished with tonight. I know they’re called stiff leg deadlifts but DO NOT lock out your knees. A slight bend is all you need and this will help to get the hams stretched tight at the bottom. When you come up do your very best to not lift the weight with your lower back. Rather pull and squeeze the hams tight so they do the work in bringing you up. I also squeeze my glutes hard starting at about 1/4th of the way up.
This morning I woke up tired from the lower carbs this week. I had to really correct my mind set yesterday. I wanted to skip the gym, sleep, and eat extra carbs. Did I need that? Sleep maybe for carbs no. I could have talked myself into it (I certainly have in the past) but that becomes a slippery slope that leads to nothing but a disappointing showing on stage and many many regrets. Seeing the improvements in the mirror this morning is what makes the suffering worth it. It’s the validation that skipping the extra carbs, hitting the gym, and doing my cardio was necessary. Can anyone relate to the rewards they see through the suffering during prep?
Since the shoulder has three heads (anterior, lateral, and posterior) I find it to be very important to play around with angles and grips in order to have well rounded😏 delts. I like to apply that to dumbbell Front Raises. Today I alternated arms starting with a neutral grip and transitioning to a pronated grip at the top. Although most of the time that I due these I maintain a neutral grip all the way through I really like these for variety from time to time. Many people deal with shoulder pain and if that’s you simply changing your grip can allow you to do some of the exercises that once caused you pain. 🎥:
Who else only wears stringers when they’re in prep🙋🏽♂️? FYI I’ve trained biceps more this prep than any other prep. I train them at the end of my back workout ✌🏽times a week. Usually two exercises with 1 warm up set each and 2-3 hard working sets each.
Progress Report📝:
7.5 weeks out feeling good on most days. Training intensity is high strength has decreased very slightly but not bad at all. Seeing new lines this week every couple of days. No changes to cardio this week and I weighed in at 209.2lbs when these pics were taken yesterday. I was 209.6 last Saturday so hoping to see 208.5 or less this coming Saturday. Mentally feeling strong and ready to push through more cardio and or a calorie reduction if it’s needed.
Man I freaking love hamburgers😋. Be sure to swipe right for 2 week comparison 👉🏽. So fresh out of bed this morning I weighed in at 211.2lbs. I think I’m getting to that point in prep where progress pics tell more of the story than the scale. I highly recommend that you use all the tools available to you to access your progress going into a show. Scales are a great tool but progress pics along side and a second opinion can make things a lot easier. If your cutting on your own I recommend you find an honest friend to review your progress comparison pics with you. 🤯 Staying out of your own head is a hard enough battle. Be sure to use what you can to get the real scoop on where you’re at in regards to your goal.
So it’s 11.5 weeks out until the Omaha Pro and I’m ahead of schedule. I can be ready in less than 9 weeks but I have a dilemma. So I chose to compete later in the season this year because both of our kids are in school now. It’s added stress on the family for me to prep for a chunk of the school year and they have to miss school for earlier shows and we don’t want to do that anymore. I told my kids that I would take them to every show and I never want to go back on my word. Now if I do a show before Omaha too then I can hit the Wings of Strength Fort Lauderdale show for my third show. In that case I can have enough breathing room to take and enjoy a family vacation to Universal Studios Orlando. So I sat my kids down and explained that I’ll be ready to do a show earlier but only Mommy and Daddy could go because it will be their last week of school. I then said I know this goes against what I told you when I turned Pro but how about a vacation to Florida and Universal Studios? Their response was🤩🤩. Soooooo......I guess I’m leaning towards The Classic in Phoenix in 9.5 weeks. What do y’all think?
Learn to control your movements and isolate the focal muscle. Rows are an awesome exercise for your back but it’s very very easy to not get much out of it due to over use of the biceps. Make that mind muscle connection and pull back with your elbows. If you think of pulling with the elbows you can reduce the bicep’s involvement. Row all the way to your body and squeeze your back hard. Hope everybody is having a good Monday. Did you use today to set the tone for the week?
12 weeks out and 12lbs to go. Woke up at 212lbs on the dot this morning. Trained legs after meal #1 and having a cheat meal with my family tonight. Feeling pretty good and macros are in a good spot. Calories aren’t high but they’re not low either which is a plus. For cardio I’m doing 20min fasted daily in my basement on my treadmill and 20min post workout 4days a week.
So something really weird happened last weekend. I left work early on Friday with bad stomach pain from what I assume was a virus. I laid in bed for the next 16 hours roughly. Only ate two bites of oatmeal and had a couple sips of water. Saturday morning woke up still feeling terrible but I went shopping and grabbed sugar free Gatorade to help replace the electrolytes for obvious reasons. Fast forward to yesterday I had dropped 4lbs but it wasn’t water. I was noticeably leaner and this was after adding in lots of extra calories to keep my weight from free falling. Some how my metabolism sped up and is a little challenging to figure out at this point. My only guess as to what’s going on is that the stomach bug changed my gut chemistry to such an extent that I’m processing foods differently. Still doing research and if I figure it out I’ll post in my story. Either way it’s always nice to be able to eat more and continue the fat lose pace.
Thank you so much for the shout out on I hope to live up to these expectations. Best believe I will do the work. RXMuscle.com

Just a little posing post leg day yesterday. Woke up to hitting my weight goal for the week which was 216.8(actually hit 216.4). Since the goal was the cheat meal went down after my training session. I see some people doing the pancakes and big breakfast for a cheat meal preworkout but that does not work for me. I will be extremely sluggish and my training will be sub par. Without going to off subject I usually perform well at the gym when I eat 1 1/2 hours before I train. I feel that most of the digestion has occurred and not my body can give more energy to my working muscle instead of my stomach.
14.5 Weeks out from the Omaha Pro. Weighed in the morning at 217.8 and I need to hit 216.8 this Saturday to keep the pace that I want. Currently doing 20min fasted cardio 6 days a week and I will also do 45min to 1 hour fasted cardio after my Saturday cheat meal. I do 5 HIIT(battle ropes) followed by 15min LISS post workout 4 days a week as well. The goal is to be ready two weeks early then try and figure out how to look my best while having to cut water in order to make weight.
a few days out from the Arnold. In this sport you have to go through days upon days of feeling your worst in order to look your best. You will never fully meet your potential with out lots and lots of suffer and you will never suffer well until you learn to embrace it.
5days out from the . I was worn out, tired, starving but still working hard to bring my best.
I want to wish my sweetie a super HAPPY BIRTHDAY today. Not telling her age but I will say that she’s aging like fine🍷(insert brownie point here_______😏).
2016 weighed in at 185lbs😳. Won the overall in Classic Physique and Bodybuilding that show. The next stop was Jr. Nats.
Well we had another solid weekend. These two young bodybuilders made me so proud and feel so old all at the same time lol. I remember doing my first competition when I was just a bit younger than they are now. I can only image what was going on in their heads as they stepped on stage for the first time. These two both worked very hard and listened to and did everything that I asked of them. Even though they’re teenagers they really approached their first prep with a level of maturity and discipline that some twice their age just don’t grasp. Well the months of dieting and training really paid off. Alex competed in figure and won the teenage division and the novice class. Brandon competed in Men’s Physique and won the teenage, Novice, Open, and the Overall. Both of these kiddos are off to collage now with a mindset and drive that few of their classmates can relate to. After seeing the looks on their faces as they wore their hardware I know they’ll be back on stage in the near future. For now though it’s time for both of them to train hard and make those baby💪🏽.
Well well well she did it ya’ll !!! is bringing home some hardware from the Northern Michigan Bodybuilding Championships. She took 1st place in all 4 Figure classes that she competed in. True Novice, Novice, Masters, and Open. Although I am super super happy with her placings I find more pleasure as a coach in the fact that she achieved her goal of stepping on stage in the best shape of her life. It was a long journey but she crossed the finish line. Now it’s time for a solid offseason and deciding what to do next🤔.
210.8 yesterday morning(pics from yesterday). I’m 5’9”ish and my weight cut off is 200lbs. We () go 7 weeks left to go and things are looking to be on schedule. I did a cheat meal last night after my back workout and I was pleased with how my body responded to extra carbs and fats. I woke up much fuller today and with minimal bloating. Carbs are going down again this week and pushing to get under 210 by next Saturday.
Quarter turn to the right👉🏽. 8 weeks out at 212lbs this AM. Time to start dialing in this posing game and improve from the last show.
with . Dope pic with my St. Louis IFBB Brothers. I call this the team light skinned Oreo muscle sandwich.
