It truly pains me to inform you of the death of our classmate “Tab” Ted Briddelle. Please pray for his daughter, family & friends. Sharing some tributes from family & friends. Rest in Eternal Peace Tab.
When I moved to Deal Island in 2000 Tab was one of the first people I met. I had a hard time understanding the accent at first, but he taught me a lot about the area and the waterman's way of life. He was always cracking jokes and making light of things, but he loved working on the water, even when it was 100 degrees and the jellies were awful, really early morning fishing up, raising the sails on a skipjack, waterspout and storms. Time eventually moved on as it always does and he went his way and I went mine but we stayed in touch. Everytime I heard that someone "went over" I would text him just to make sure he was safe even when i moved 539 miles northwest. I saw the post yesterday about it happening again and I texted him. Then I saw his name mentioned and my heart sank. I immediately got in touch with some locals and learned that my fears were true. Facebook is great for staying in touch, but terrible for truth seeking. Many people who had no idea what it's like to live in this small community starting commenting and assuming to know how it is on the water. Accidents happen and I believe that's exactly what occurred here. Tab was very experienced on the water and he knew his job. He taught and mentored many others. Watermen wear heavy gear even in the scorching summer to protect themselves. Life jackets aren't always feasible and there are a lot of moving parts and people. I don't know exactly what occurred yesterday and I don't need the details. All I know is that a friend, father, grandfather, son is missing. I pray for his return so his family can have some closure. Our very talented classmate, Valerie Lankford, and (also talented) friend, Margot Resto, will be at EVO next Friday, June 14th in the beer garden from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. If you weren’t able to make it to the reunion gathering last night, here’s another chance! Not a formal reunion, just join us if you’re able!

We're looking forward to seeing many of our classmates tonight at JoJo's from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A reminder this is a ticketed event and only those who have already purchased tickets can attend. We had to reserve a room and guarantee a certain number of people will be there so JoJo's can prepare enough food for the people who purchased tickets. Unfortunately, we do not have a way to "slip someone in" at JoJo's. Enjoy this beautiful day and if you aren't attending, we'll catch you next time!

Friday, June 7th from 5:00 to ?? at EVO: We have a reservation for 40 people outside and will order from an abbreviated menu (pay as you go). The good thing with the reservation is that we'll have dedicated servers. And, if rain pops up, we can move into the tasting room (maximum of 40 people). The weather looks good right now so we'll keep our finger's crossed!
If you ordered a t-shirt or hoodie but it wasn't delivered to your home, they can be picked up at this event. Attire is casual...feel free to wear your WHS shirt!

Saturday, June 8th, at JoJo's Family Restaurant from 5:00 to 8:00 pm: We have a reserved a room for 50 of our classmates and spouses/dates who have already purchased tickets. We look forward to good food and reconnecting after 40 years! There will be a back drop for taking pictures, music, picture slides, and more. If you want to contribute photos, please drop them in the comments below. Attire is dressy casual.

Classmates...a REMINDER that the absolute last deadline to purchase tickets for Saturday, June 8th dinner at JoJo's is Friday, May 31st at midnight. After that, the site goes down. For those of you who ordered tshirts or hoodies for the second fundraiser, we didn’t meet the 8 tshirt minimum; therefore, the orders were canceled and your money will be returned.
The third and final fundraiser will end at midnight, Wednesday May 8th. This is another reminder if you want a shirt or hoodie and you ordered via the second fundraiser YOU HAVE TO ORDER AGAIN! Your money will be returned to you from the second

Classmates, we are looking at reserving the barrell room inside EVO for our Friday, June 7th gathering. There is a $200 fee for a room that can hold 50-60 people.
