Green Wave Debate

Awesome trip to Boston, MA! 14 hours of in round debate, 20+ hours of debate prep time, and we still found a way to fit in some fun along the way! Thanks to the museum and the for providing us with amazing experiences this weekend beyond our national competition.

Heading home today after completing the 49th Annual Harvard Speech and Debate Tournament yesterday! All of our students came home with round wins on the national level, and 2 teams advanced into elimination rounds! Afonso and Laura made history this year by being the first LB team ever to win a judge ballot in elim round panels!! Amazing job to all our debaters!!

Grateful for the opportunity to be on Harvard’s campus this weekend, and ended our Boston experience at the Museum of Science!

What a successful, exciting day for this team!!! 2 partnerships with 3-3 records, 1 with a 4-2 record, and another ending with a 5-1 record!! 2 teams broke into elim rounds today, as well!!
We enjoyed some much needed decompression time with dinner and fun at Dave & Busters after rounds! This team rocks.

4 rounds of debate down! Debaters had an awesome, grueling, but very successful day competing today! All of our partnerships have round wins under their belts, and 2 teams are currently holding 3-1 records!! Let’s go, !!

Congrats to the team on their awesome tournament performance this past weekend!! Long Branch HS came in 2nd place overall school in policy debate! Special congrats to Sarah Wilson, Vivian Elise-Antwi, and Angelyn Santos for all earning individual speaker awards, as well! This team rocks!! So good to have and former Green Wave Debater judge and coach for us this tournament, too!

Alum spotlight!! Former Green Wave debater Sam Minear is a student at Florham University and an Asst. News Editor at the Fordham Ram… and recently Sam was selected to join a conversation with other Gen Z students regarding current gun policies and reform with !! So cool to see our policy debaters continue to discuss policy well after they have left our program. So proud of you, Sam! Check out the whole video at our link in stories!

Heated debates today in the combined Intro and Advanced Debate Classes on the topic: “Should Halloween be permanently moved to a Saturday?” 👻🎃

Congrats to the Green Wave Debate Team on completing their first in person tournament in over two years!!! Today these 24 students got to school at 6:45am to travel and compete in a tri-state tournament with over 130 competitors, including some of the best teams in the nation!

We made it, and even came home with a 4th place novice team award! So proud of this group of committed scholars. They are truly the leaders of tomorrow.

Our debaters have been scrimmaging all week in preparation for our FIRST IN-PERSON TOURNAMENT TOMORROW IN TWO YEARS!! Here we come, NYC!

The Green Wave Debate program is expanding in Long Branch! We have TWO unique courses offered at … Intro to Debate and Advanced Debate!! Our classes combined today to practice some debate strategy games together. Big things are happening for !

Our first meeting of the year is next Thursday!! Spread the word!
