Well looks like I will need a sd card extender for my nestang enclosure. First step is to get the outline done and I think I'm there.
Got more work on this while listening to 's retro chat. Feel like I mostly know where I'm going now. Still need to work out the sd card and usb port stuff.
Decided to use the original opaque grey used by the gamecube for accessories as well as the char red color.

Another recent arrival. I purchased a Triforce for the N64 that was listed as not booting. I gave it a try and it indeed does not boot. Hopefully it's an easy fix. Maybe I can do a stream tearing it down and cleaning it.
Finally had a chance to use the jig to cut some NES carts for Extended converters. It works well but needs a little more support so fingers don't have to be involved. 😅
Finally taking pictures of my latest China order. I've been grabbing these Tianli Sega VCD players every chance I get. These ones are a bit sad though. One of them is missing the cord, and one of them is missing the feet and I can hear things rattling around inside.
I'm especially excited to check out the KingWon VCD player. It's basically a famiclone with Doctor PC Jr capabilities as well as the ability to load games from discs. Although it took a bit of damage in shipping.
I also managed to get two complete sets of official discs. Will have to make sure I make proper dumps of them.
At long last we are ready to make new Gamecube colors, Gameboy Players, and accessories available for pre-order! Pre-Orders will go live tomorrow afternoon. We have a lot of info to share so be sure to go through the whole thread.
First we are now making the new colors Translucent Emerald Green and Translucent Blue available for pre-order. Other colors will be considered in the future, but we decided it was going to be too much of a strain to try and add any additional colors right now.
Gameboy Players are also now available for Pre-Order! We have setup early bird pricing of $60. Which will end Monday. Novemeber 27th 2023.
We also have made various accessories available. Hopefully this gives more options to those that wish to customize that don't involve just buying another shell.

Now on to anyone that has had a Gamecube pre-order predating November 20th 2023. We have decided to allow you to customize your shell as a thank you for your patience. So you don't have to purchase the accessories separately. We have sent out email instructions for those.
https://buff.ly/3QVQuNI
Open the tool in you web browser and enter your email and order number. You can then make selections for the color of handle you would like, front panel, buttons and memory cards. You can also change the color of shell you have ordered.
You can also reference new orders in the tool to be combined with old ones. So if you wish to purchase something like a Gameboy player and have them shipped together. Create another order on the store. Then in the tool reference the new number to be combined together.
Castlemania/Rondo Products will have their own process for all of this so keep an eye on their account for details.
Hopefully this all makes sense. We are very excited to finally be to this point and appreciate all of your patience. We know it's been a long wait and this process has definitely had a lot of bumps and hurdles along the way.
Sometimes it's fun when motivation for a project grips you. Created symbols and footprints with 3d models and am well on my way.
Started drawing the chinese ps2 controller connectors so they can be used with my NESTang board. This will be the 3d model for the footprint and allow me to make sure the board fits the enclosure in .
I have been having a blast with the Tang Nano 20k loaded with NESTang by . I think I'm going to have to make a pcb and enclosure to make the setup less jank.
Missed updating the date on midnight blue playstation shells since I got laid out by a cold. They are on the way now and we are planning to have them shipped out by the 27th. Thanks

Here's the jig. Pretty pleased for a first try but still have some things to work out. 😅
Received a bunch of FPGA goodness. Now I can actually try some of the cool projects I've been seeing.
Created a new jig for helping cut NES cartridges like the Extended converter. Seems like it should work will see how the prints turn out.
Finally have these in stock again. We'll see how long they last this time. 😅
Bought this tape drive in the hopes of making a USB floppy drive with a 5.25 and 3.5 inch drives and using a greaseweazel.
Hopefully this is the next quick thing down the pipe after GameCube. I've had several people express interest in NES cartridge shells with similar colors that I did with Famicom shells. So we are working on the design and with any luck people will still be interested when it's ready. 😄
I recently spotted this card at a surplus store. Seeing the label "SEGA BIOS V1.0", a 9 pin and what looked like a video connector I had to pay the $5 for it and find out what it was. I looked up the chip part numbers and turns out that "SEGA" stands for "Super EGA" So just a video card. 😜
Received an original Char Red Gamecube courtesy of ! The SP2 door is going to be sacrificed for color matching. Also don't mind the color of the photo I used my kitchen lights.
So recently I've become interested again in classic computers. I recently picked all this up locally. Excited to play with it all and am going to need to pick up somethings before I can give it all a try. Some of it obviously needs repairs.
Those that watched the live stream I did a bit ago might remember this little tidbit from the end of the stream where I was noticing the lid sticking up slightly. Turned out the print was a bit warped. 😅
With production of the molds starting now and with the estimated timeline for machining, test shots, mold shipping, and production we are now estimating the ship date as end of February 2024. We'll have more to share soon on gameboy player shells, discounts for those who have stuck with us for so long and new sellers soon. We appreciate your support and patience.
Opaque Midnight Blue Playstation shells are available for pre-order with a planned ship date of November 10th 2023.

We also have a pre-order for Translucent Blue Playstation shells with an estimated ship date of December 1st 2023. Please note the production of these will be guaged off of the demand for the pre-orders.

Planning to start a live stream on youtube at 6:00 PM Mountain time of unboxing and assembling the (last?) Gamecube prototype. Will be my first livestream so will be interesting to see how it goes. :D
You can subscribe here to be notified. Not much to be seen here yet.

Here is an example of a small thing I needed to do. Make new renders for some options that didn't originally occur to me. Translucent white front panel and handle. The front panel render didn't come out great but not something i should nitpick at the moment.
Something we have finally done is added an option to the pocket power pocket where a battery is not included. This makes it so we can do international shipping without having to worry about each countries rules around batteries.
Pocket-Power Pocket (No Battery Included) The Pocket-Power Pocket is an all in one lithium battery and regulator replacement for the GameBoy Pocket. With USB C charging, a 1000mAh lithium battery (not included), and a completely redesigned regulator circuit, this mod allows for hours of playtime, even when using power hungry flash carts
New prototype arrived a bit ago.I assembled and sent this video to my engineer, and figured why not share it with you? You can see my messy desk and listen to me marvel that it finally works. 😀
The good news is it does work! We can finally move on to the next step which is one final sanity check prototype. Basically everything good to go and I have the final files collected together. One last check before we immortalize the design in steel.
Currently waiting on production of the last prototype. I've been considering streaming me putting them together and doing my last check. Would that be interesting to any one?
Managed to snag one of these in my journey to build a fourscore. Would any want a Famicom version like this?
Tested my LaserDisc player with one of my DBZ movies. Looks like my $10 was well spent. 😀
This is our final issue and has been the most difficult to solve. The damping gear doesn't engage with the lid. This results in the lid snapping open and bouncing at the top which isn't great.
The first time it happened we assumed it was a print issue, because the designers prints were fine but the prints I had ordered weren't working. After ordering more and still having the issue I was nervous we were still missing something.
Using the original piece with our prints worked perfect. While using the 3d printed in the original cube resulted in the problem. It seemed like our piece was off but we weren't sure how.
A friend had an idea to use modeling clay to figure it out. First we put the original piece in and then we put the 3d print and we could see that it needs to come over a bit.
I went ahead and jammed a piece of plastic in (broken off from a reset button) and it was much smoother.
We had two new designs to try, and were ready for another prototype.
Those arrived and things worked much better but it still wasn't engaging quite right. It would catch for the first part and then let go at the top, or it would get stuck as it goes up and down.
So we have another prototype design which I'm currently waiting for. Should be here soon.
Was just thinking about some Dragon Ball Z laserdiscs after a conversation with some people. Well funny enough I decided to go to a thrift store today, and scored some things. Two computer on the right were $5 each. Both seem to be about pentium 3ish era. The computer on the left I actually got from the utah retro swap meet for free, and up top a laser disc player. Spent $20 total.
Managed to put together my fourscore test board. There were some issues during assembly mainly that I used the wrong side dip socket. I tried kind of bending it to fit. Unfortunately it's not working and I need to figure out if it's more then the chip or if I derped something.(derped something more that is)
DOL-101 consoles are less common and we didn't think this would be worth a separate mold to make it happen. As the planning for the molds continued we discovered that the tooling for the back panel could easily pump out two pieces for every cycle.
After that I decided it would be simple to have the mold crank out a DOL-001 back panel and DOL-101 panel on every cycle and provide both so the customer can use the shell for which ever model.
Wily wars has been on my list forever. Picked it up while hanging out with at . You can check out his videos of Utah game stores to see me wandering around in the background in my back brace and talking about random stuff. )
The eject button is another example of a design flaw. Frequently because of the shape the reset button would push down and not come back up. They who must not be named eventually addressed this issue in later models by adding a spring to help the button come back up. (1/2)
I can't take credit for this one. I asked what improvements he would suggest and he mentioned that he had been cutting this shape into reset buttons since about 2002. Having this updated shape I have to try to get the button to stick where as before it would just happen randomly. I'm extremely pleased with this change. (2/2)
These are my pickups from the Utah Retro Game Swap meet put on by I never know what I'm on the look out for typically. I've always been curious about the pc gameshark. I remember holding a copy in gamestop back in the early 2000's and wondering how it would work. Hot wheels was a game I wanted as a kid so now I have it and can give it a whirl. The GB Boy Colour I've wanted for a while. This one appears to be new but the screen protector came loose and the original batteries were leaking in the box.
This is exactly the sort of thing I love to see. Would love to give it a try.
[NES] Sonic Improvement + EPSM (YMF288) - tests Music from famistudio demo songs folder, covers written by How2Bboss.Works in Mesen-X.expansion sound card for the Nintendo Entertainment System:https://gith...
I discovered I hate little drawers and little bins and these pencil pouches is what I came up with as an alternative.
Had a blast at the Utah Retro Game Swap. As always the main highlight is being able to meet up with people I haven't seen in a while. Was nice to hang out with John Riggs. Thanks to for putting it on.
Each prototype had an issue with the reset button jamming. The part of the plastic that pushes the reset button down would push down next to the switch and and get stuck down.
I consider this a design flaw with the original since I've run into this with worn original reset switches as well. After looking at it for a bit the solution jumped out at me. So instead of just a '-' shape for the plunger I asked the designer to update it to a '+' shape. With this change it should be impossible for the button to get stuck.
