Drewe's Model Page
My models, my modelling.
1/72 Boeing 757. That is absolutely gorgeous!
Cut out and taped together the main Sword Crusader airframe components. Some gentle sanding of mating faces and it fits very nicely. I did this because once I know the basic parts fit, any problems that arise when building have been introduced, they aren't inherent. So go a step at a time with the internals, adjusting each assembly to maintain this basic soundness of fit and it should be an easy build.
It's limited run - it needs effort, but it needn't be onerous.
The goody man cometh. Really quick look - nice. Well moulded, resin seat, kabuki masks. New style VERY sturdy top opener boxes. Sword continue to improve. Marine bird for the A, and I'd like to wait and find some decals to do a TPS bird from the G.
It's largely mental, but the second you cross reference a single shade to both a BS and an FS I tune it out as an option. (BS641 / FS34079 is the biggest culprit, but there are others)
First little play with Onshape CAD. Printed okay as well.
Dear Sword, Buccaneer S.1.
There you go, you didn't even know it was broken, and yet I fixed it for you! You're welcome.
(F7U-1 Cutlass and early Crusaders for an encore. )
Off to buy models. But first.
The A-7K was the most attractive of the Corsair family by some margin. There, I said it.
Checking in as safe from the arguments. 😉
This is the boxing I've been waiting for! Built a bunch of Revell ones in the early 80s as a teenager using stuff like ESCI decals, and this scheme is just how I think of Airacobras. Can't wait!
With an Airfix Me410 en route, yesterday I dug my Italeri one out of the stash and started gluing bits together.
Today I boxed it up and threw it in the bin. Good lord, the difference a few years makes. Oversimplified, soapy plastic, not a sharp joining surface on the whole thing, recessed detail at least half way to Matchbox 1977 style. I simply knew I would never finish that crude semblance of a Hornisse with better options available.
I wonder how much of our stashes is stuff we not only would never get around to building, but has been so comprehensively out evolved in the intervening years that you wouldn't even if you could?
No time for the Rebels, I'm firmly in the Republic's corner this week. (Special Hobby/ Tamiya)
Fame!
😂
I'm a massive fan of Airfix's new "let 'em know at the last minute" MO.
Just makes sense to me.
Wonder what the chances are of a new tool AH-1J in any of the major scales any time soon? Are you listening ICM?
Nothing pulls a finish together like VMS, the god of varnishes.
More decals than you might think!
Whichever flavour of F-35 you pick, you better be ready for some overtime on the masking!
One would hope it's in 1/48th and an accurate Bis, after the half-arsed Eduard bodge.
NEW SCALE NEW PRODUCT!!
Tamiya F-35B with all the doors closed. Fit is, in a word, "Tamiya"
I laugh harder every time I watch it.

If you think the cost of entry to Scale Model World is excessive, don't go.
Look at that, I solved your problem for you in one sentence. Yay me!
Playing with the new printer

My Saturn 2 printer failed a couple nights ago. It's been a great printer, and I have no complaints. It appears the mono LCD screen is the culprit. I looked online for replacement screens and they are readily available, not super cheap but affordable, and seems easy enough to replace.
But I've been looking at new printers recently, so yesterday pulled the trigger on a Mars 4 Ultra. My printing has changed somewhat over the few years I've been using them, and I was barely using 15-20% of the build plate on any given print - it's all small scale details I'm printing, so moving back to a smaller form factor was an acceptable way to go.
New printer is lovely! Faster than either of the Saturns, 18 micron pixel size. First exposure test was bang on the money, and first test print was super sharp. Uses the new ACF release film rather than FEP/NFEP, and I can see none of the softness or artefacts others have talked about.
And WiFi! No more loading the file to a USB stick and physically plugging it in to the printer. Simply registered my printer on the network, connected to it in the slicer, and sent the file wirelessly! Even started the print going from the computer. Nice!
See how it settles in, but really happy with things today.
Goodies! Tiny box, well packed!
Now, if X-Scale feel the need to do a new tool Vickers Vanguard, you know, so be it!
Slowly edging towards the finish line.
And the slat well meltdown has commenced.
If you're good enough to moan, you're good enough to understand the engineering decision driving that choice, and you're good enough to correct it if bothers you. Trot off and die on another hill sweetheart. 😚
No ASRAAM or Paveway IV.
Utterly delightful little model. Almost ready for some shiny.
Proper old school!
Airfix's 1/72 Bristol Superfreighter (Full Build) Sorry its been a while but the house move went pear shaped big time. Who in their right mind would sell a house these days, but there may be light at the end...
Did I just order one? You betcha!
Boxart for our new model - HS-121 Trident 1C.
Another great work from Marek Rys.
Inbound shortly from your friendly Polish kit Hawkers.
(See what I did there?)
Test
Mix of Mr Color clear yellow and smoke grey sprayed and then polished with novus #2 & 1.
Tamiya's little 72nd F-35A. 48 hours' work, typically Tamiya, simply perfect assembly, and cunningly hidden seams.
Artwork for the first boxing of the upcoming Special Hobby F-84F. That is phenomenal!
There's my take on the 1/48th Arma Hobby Model Kits Hurricane IIC for now. I'll let it sit for a day or two and check for details - I find the end of a build pretty intense, so a day or two of before going back to review works for me. Beauty shots. . . eventually.
