Think about this, if the Prophet (SAW) is alive, would he accept you as part of his Ummah? Perhaps yes, or may be not. We really need to know his values in order to know what he would want and his prohibitions with respect to what Allah sent him with. To Allah belong all kinds of accolades and praises, may His benedictions be on the seal of all messengers [SAW] and all Muslims till eternity, Amin.
Remember, 570 AD was the year of the elephant when Abraha tried to destroy the Ka’bah which Allah averted through some of His multiple soldiers, birds defeated this annihilating force to the dust as the birth of ibn Abdullah was confirmed by Aminah.
Hark back to the fact that Mecca was a society of valour, vice and vulnerable attitudes where intertribal wars were the order of the day, promiscuity was as common as air and coercion by rulers were on point. Everyone was tired of such life style and hence needed guidance as he was named Muhammad by AbdulMutallib.
Recall that man is not dignified without livelihood and trust, these and more virtues were embedded in a man who settled a tribal genocide that could have happened right from Mecca and Ka’ba itself as Khadijah asked his hand in Marriage.
Dredge up the fact that even though he was a virtuous and a fervent transformer of the community from darkness to light and zero to hero yet only few accepted Islam while majority rejected and prosecuted him and his followers.
Just think about it, after being tormented by his relatives which lead to his quest for a haven and a definite accomplishment of Yathrib he cemented the soul of the travelers (Muhajirun) with that of the helpers (Ansar) who were either former foes or were from different tribes and continents as he established an ideal Islamic society in Madinah.
Recollect that this den of decadence and a place of neglect by the world because of its desert and low level of water was transformed to an echelon of attraction and respect all over the world cleaned of faults in all ramifications as he [SAW] did the only peaceful conquest ever recorded in human history, the conquest of Mecca.
Sincerely, you need to remember and study the lifestyle of the seal of all prophets [SAW], an excellent example for mankind, the single general of the world, the greatest man in history, A kind father of 6 and a caring husband of Aishah, the unlettered scholar, the great philosopher, and the best of the best in character ever recorded in history of homo sapiens.
Without mincing words, despite his great achievements, value and incomparable way of life, he never called for hero worship nor his special celebration from his birth till he had his last breath.
Therefore, as cleared by Allah in Q33:21 we have in him an excellent character, it behooves us as Muslims to model our lives according to his as much as we can if truly we want to be successful as Muslims and be part of his Ummah.
We must steer clear from celebrating his birth because he never ordered us to do so as a way of not copying the Christians who celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ despite clear facts that christmas celebration is a pagan feast of Romans adopted by early Christians.
Moreover, every community has her calendar while the most widely used ones in democratic countries is the Gregorian calendar, it should interest you to note that the months in this calendar (January to December) represent ancient festivals of pagan Romans pooled together by Pope Gregory in a calendar. Any Muslim who can’t read Muharram to Dhul-Hijjah and does not know the significance of each month seems to be deficient in his deen. We are in Rabiul Awwal, 1437 years after the migration of the Prophet (SAW) from Mecca to Medina. This month is significant because it was the month in which the Prophet (SAW) was born.
I want to use this medium to appreciate all those that made it to the centenary IVC @ HCDC, Naforija, Epe and pray Allah reward you abundantly. You have really displayed your true membership of Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria while sacrificing your comfort at home for the camp and please note you are to return to the basis of the right Aqeedah and sound worship while eschewing religious polemics and bigotry.
As we resume on campus today, I pray Allah make the applications of all what we learnt on camp an easy task. To all Akokites may you have a superb semester as we begin academic hustle today.

MUQATTA'AT: The Secret Revelations

Muqatta'at (Arabic: مقطعات) are unique letter combinations that appear in the beginning of 29 suras (chapters) of the Qur'an. Muqatta'at literally means abbreviated or shortened. Their meanings remain unclear and are considered by most Muslims to be divine secrets.

They are all fawātih (فواتح) or "openers" as they form the opening verse of their respective suras. Other names include the broken, dis-joined,initial, or isolated letters of the Qur'an.

Of the 28 letters of the Arabic alphabet, exactly one half appear as muqatta'at, either singly or in combinations of two, three, four or five letters. The fourteen (1⃣4⃣) letters are: أ ح ر س ص ط ع ق ك ل م ن هـ ي (alif, ha, ra, sin, sad, ta, ain, qaf, kaf, lam, mim, nun, hha, ya).

Muqatta'at can be found in the following combination:

1⃣4⃣ letters make the muqatta'at and their combinations are also 1⃣4⃣, as they appear in the opening of 29 suwar which is approximately 1⃣/4⃣ (¼) of the Qur'anic chapters.

📝 Some one has coined a phrase by joining these words:
سر لحكيم نصه قطعا
"A secret of a sage who explained it in piecemeal."

This phrase can be considered as a key to the fawatih of the Qur'an.
📝 Another scholar formed the following phrase:
صح طريقك مع السنة
"Follow the path of Sunnah.”

AL-ISTIKHAARAH: WHAT A PERFECT REPLACEMENT FOR VISITING THE SOOTHSAYER/FORTUNE TELLER!

▶INTRODUCTION
Istikhaarah in simple term means to seek the help of Allah in ANY matter. Whenever one wants to undertake a decision or a matter or anything regarding his life whether it be an important matter or a casual matter, he should pray two raka'ats nawafil prayer and supplicate the dua of istikhara (to be mentioned below) after it to seek the help of Allah in his matter/decision.

▶HOW IT IS DONE
Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) said: The Prophet (s.a.w) used to teach us to seek Allah's Counsel in all matters, as he used to teach us a Surah from the Qur'an. He would say: "When anyone of you has an important matter to decide, let him pray two Rak'ahs other than the obligatory prayer, and then say:

'اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَخِيرُكَ بِعِلْمَكَ، وَأَسْتَقْدِرُكَ بِقُدْرَتِكَ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْعَظِيمِ، فَإِنَّكَ تَقْدِرُ وَلَا أَقْدِرُ، وَتَعْلَمُ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُ، وَأَنْتَ عَلَّامُ الْغُيُوبِ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْر خَيْرٌ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي(ويسمى حاجته) فَاقْدُرْهُ لِي وَيَسِّرْهُ لِي ثُمَّ بَارِكْ لِي فِيهِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ شَرٌّ لِي فِي دِينِي وَمَعَاشِي وَعَاقِبَةِ أَمْرِي فَاصْرِفْهُ عَنِّي وَاصْرِفْنِي عَنْهُ وَاقْدُرْ لِيَ الْخَيْرَ حَيْثُ كَانَ ثُمَّ أَرْضِنِي بِهِ'.

{Allahumma innii astakhiiruka bi'ilmika, wa astaqdiruka biqudratika, wa as-aluka min fadlika-l-'Azeemi, fainnaka taqdiru walaa aqdiru, wa ta'lamu walaa a'lamu, wa anta 'Allaamu-l-ghuyuubi. Allahumma in kunta ta'lamu anna haadha-l-amra (wa yusammii haajatahu) khayrun lii fii diinii wa ma'aashii wa 'aaqibati amrii, faqdur-hu lii wa yassir-hu lii thumma baarik lii fiihi, wa in kunta ta'lamu anna haadha-l-amra sharrun lii fii diinii wa ma'aashii wa 'aaqibati amrii, fasrif-hu 'annii wasrifnii anhu, waqdur liya-l-khayra haythu kaana thumma ardinii bihi.'}

{O Allah, I seek the counsel of Your Knowledge, and I seek the help of Your Omnipotence, and I beseech You for Your Magnificent Grace. Surely, You are Capable and I am not. You know and I know not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (he should mention his need) is good for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come in both the short term and the long term, then ordain it for me and make it easy for me, then bless me in it. And if You know that this matter is bad for me in my religion and in my life and for my welfare in the life to come in both the short term and the long term, then distance it from me, and distance me from it, and ordain for me what is good wherever it may be, and help me to be content with it.}

➡ IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
1⃣ The wordings 'wa yusammii haajatahu' (i.e he should mention his need) is the point where one should mention the task for which Istikhaarah is being done. If in case you are not able to speak or find the right words then your intention in the heart will, In Sha Allah, be counted.

2⃣ Istikhaarah cannot be done for haraam or disliked matters in Islam (working in a bank operating on interest, going to a club, having illegal sexual in*******se, etc).
Istikhaarah is ONLY and ONLY allowed for matters which are mubah (allowed) or mustahabb (recommended) in Islam concerning either an individual's personal life (property etc) or religious life (marriage, help in Islamic issues).

Everyone should calm down. I am optimistic by Allah that we are on truth and whatever is happening is Allah's design yo make the truth prevail. In the battle of Badr the Muslims were mildly jolted. But was the battle a loss? No, it wasn't, it was a preparatory foundation that led to more success of the Muslims . the battle of khandaq was a trouncing. The Muslims won and outstanding victory. These successes continued until Islam spread and spread.

The foolish image they made would soon be an embarrassment. If you are sincere and you believe in this conviction of the selfless sacrifice we are making to serve Allah through MSSN UNILAG, then you should believe our present trial is an opener to an outstanding success.

We would all witness it. The evil people would be disgraced. They would be jolted when the keys to the masjid would be handed over to the leadership of the present excos still in school.

There is nothing to be sad about. Allah needs to make this happen to make silent the liars and to disgrace the hypocrites.

Be glad and smile. Allah is in charge. He knows what is best for us. We would keep striving to ensure justice comes to the truth. We are hopeful in Allah and we have no fear to derail us or jeopardise our passion for Islam for the sake of Islam.
