đź’Ą NEW PRODUCT ALERTđź’Ą
YOU ASKED FOR IT!

We now offer a line of .165 spinning inserts. This system utilizes a NEW patented pending countersink sleeve to provide the most strength possible for the front of your arrow shaft.
We will be releasing a new line of .204 Spinning Inserts soon with the new countersink sleeves so be on the lookout for more systems to come out with this new
sleeve as we work to finish several future products
Available Sizes:
.165/.234 - .165/.240 165/.245 - .165/.250 165/.255 - .165/.261 165/.264
No Draw Weight Restrictions!

***Please Note: Because this product is brand new, we haven’t yet had a chance to get all the data loaded into our Arrow Compatibility Wizard. To determine the correct Spinning Insert for your arrow shaft you can still use the Compatibility Wizard - just put in your arrow info, and your spine will display the O.D of your arrow. Match that to the closest Spinning Insert size.

Keep those suggestions coming and stay tuned for more surprises!

Also, don’t forget to become an email subscriber and receive alerts and discounts on new products before they officially are released!

We have seen this topic on different forums. We have recieved questions about certain individuals dismissing the bow entirely when talking about lethality or saying they are just springs, the arrow doesn’t care what its fired from…..well…here is something to chew on..

We have ran some numbers for comparison.

PSE Full Throttle set at 55 # with a 27.5” AMO measured draw length.
350gr @ 300 fps avg = 69.93 # KE

Bear Adapt set at 71.2 # with a 30.5” AMO Measured draw length.
350gr @ 307 fps avg = 73.23 # KE

Now if we match draw length (bow still at 71.2 # physical draw weight), that puts the Bear Adapt numbers at
350gr @ 277 fps avg = 59.62 # KE
THEN
Match the physical draw weight
350gr @ 247 fps avg = 47.40 # KE

In order for the Bear to get like KE as the PSE set at 55 #, you would have to put the physical draw weight of the Bear to 86.5 # just to get right at the same KE with the PSE….

If we bring lethality into the mix, which has a great pe*******on potential.
A.) 350gr with 69.93 # KE
B.) 350gr with 47.40 # KE
Both bows are 55 # with a 27.5” draw length….

THE BOW MATTERS!!

This is also why a 50 # recurve will NOT outperform about any 50 # compound with the same arrow, BIG energy difference.

Yes we get thats a bit of an extreme comparison however it still holds true in a 320 vs 340 ibo bow, there WILL be a difference in performance.

So what happens to the arrow spine when you use a longer insert (deeper internal footer)?

We know by cutting an arrow we change its reaction by shortening the two points of flex (making the arrow reaction stiffer or causing less bend). This is one main way we tune traditional bows, use the insert and tip weight desired on an uncut shaft then little by little trim the shaft from the back to make the arrow react stiffer (start with a nock left or “weak” reaction then trim till its plumb straight in the target, if you go to far then it will become nock right or “to stiff”).

Using a Ram tester you can see the amount of deflection changes by shortening the distance between the two points of flex by using a longer internal footer or by making the arrow shorter (less bend) however the static spine of the arrow always stays the same (there is a formula to calculate the correct spine when the rollers are not set at the recommended distance for testing). The reading without an insert in the shaft measuring at the same points pictured show the same amount of deflection each way (again not changing the static spine but changing the way it will react).

When using a spine program, we recommend putting your arrow carbon to carbon length .75-1” shorter than it measures if using a longer than factory insert like the one pictured from Ethics Archery (.75” for SS and 1” for AL insert).

Installed new UnBound Archery strings on another couple bows. We really enjoy working with UnBound strings and cables because the accuracy with which they are made translates into easy installations. A couple twists and you’re in spec. Initial setup holds true for a long time, minimizing re-tunes. Furthermore, UnBound Archery provides fantastic customer service if a need arises.

Nock tuning arrows…is it a thing?
Yes..Yes it is.
Now with that being said, some arrows from the same batch may not require nock tuning (all depends on the spine variation / consistency around the shaft) where if you rotate the nock 90 degrees, the tear (or reaction) doesn’t change.

To properly tune a bow, you need a correctly spined arrow that does NOT change the tear by rotating the nock every 90 degrees (at 4 points). You also want all your arrows reacting the same no matter what direction the tear is (all nock left, right, etc) in order to properly tune.

Afterwards, If you have an arrow that doesn’t want to group with the rest (a flyer if you will) or that is flying a bit funny, rotate to the next vane, then the next to see if that brings it back into the group. You can also change the nock itself out as well as sometimes that is the culprit to poor arrow flight / reaction.
