Scureman Clayworks
Scureman Clayworks is a family-owned and operated ceramics studio that specializes in religious sculpture and functional pottery.
Lessons in hand-building techniques are provided by our lead sculptor, via appointment. Individual lessons available by appointment
Hello to all my fans and friends!
You may have noticed that I have yet to post this quarter's classes. Due to Life Stuff, I will be taking a short sabbatical from teaching up at 4P Studios. This isn't an end; it's a pause.
I'll still be offering pieces for sale in the gallery space and will go back to teaching when the Life Stuff has calmed down somewhat. In the meantime, my good friend Amanda has graciously agreed to teach my handbuilding and figure sculpting classes, and I am profoundly grateful to her for stepping up during my hour of need.
Here's a selection of pieces that are currently available. Three 25-piece rune sets (assorted styles; $50 each) and a mushroom man backflow incense burner.
I have three FUTHARK rune sets (one black with shimmer, one red/orange/yellow like fire, and one with mushrooms on 'em) and a mushroom man back-flow incense burner for sale for that special witchy person in your life!
We are THANKFUL for YOU and hope you are able to enjoy this holiday with those you cherish most.
Your patience and understanding next week is appreciated. While many of our 4P Crew may be on site (working on personal projects), our studios & galleries may not be open during our regularly scheduled hours.
We will resume our regular hours Tuesday, November 29th:
4P Studios | Main Studio & Gallery
3927 Roberts Road | Martinez
Tuesday-Friday, 1 - 5 PM & Saturday, 1 - 4 PM
4P Studios @ 600 Broad Gallery
600 Broad Street | Downtown Augusta
Monday, Wednesday, & Friday, 12 - 5 PM
All other days/times, at both locations, are by appointment by contacting 4P Studios.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Haven't had a chance to come to a show and support us directly by purchasing a piece? That's okay, We now have a Patreon!

I'll be honest, folks.... I don't have any idea what I'm doing with this, and I'm not going to pretend that I do. I just know that some of my friends and family would like to support me in a more direct way but haven't been able to purchase pieces personally, and Patreon will allow them to support my work in a meaningful manner.
So if you've ever thought to yourself, "Gosh, I sure do love Megan's art and I'd like to be able to show my support but I don't know how!" this is a great way.
Patreon Patreon is empowering a new generation of creators. Support and engage with artists and creators as they live out their passions!
What a load of bisque! Our kiln cooled off just in time for my shift, so I got to unload it, and that's always exciting. I love seeing what our people can make!
Sometimes you just wanna make a tile.
Anybody else have a thing for poems and want a plate with their favorite poem on it? Hit me up! This one is a and I love it.
Remember that plate I was working on yesterday? Here it is! It's not been fired so it's still a but I'm loving it.
Hi everyone! Just dropping a note to say that Scureman Clayworks (in partnership with 4P Studios) will be offering a homeschool art class on Wednesdays starting tomorrow! It's a walk-in class ($40 cash at the door) and it goes from 10-11:30 AM. So if you'd like an hour and a half in the mornings to have a cup or coffee or run some errands, bring your child(ren) by for some clay play time.
It's come to my attention that the Boyscouts Program has a pottery merit badge! We can help your Boyscout acquire that badge. π Contact me for details and we can get your Boyscout some individual sessions that will meet the badge's requirements.
Hey everybody!
There's just under a week to go until my next session of classes start and there are only a few slots left, so if you've ever wanted to try ceramics, now is the time!
Please go to 4pstudiosart.com to see the deets and to sign up for classes!
(Monday and/or Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm.)
Good morning, everyone.
It's that time of year again! If you'd like to have a Scureman original sculpture or functional piece as a Christmas gift, now is the time to place an order.
As a reminder, while I do take a limited number of commissions, I do have limitations on what I can do. I can make a piece inspired by someone else's piece but I can't sell it (so no exact reproductions of other creator's work/color combos/etc), and anything you order will come out looking like I made it, not a computer or factory. Meaning there will be imperfections and discolorations that you maybe weren't expecting. A good general rule is to tell me what it is you're looking for and then let me run wild and create something like what you've asked for.
Previous examples of commissioned work include "something for the wall of our church" and "a really large mug" : these are good, open-ended requests that I was able to fill.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Big changes are in the works at 4P Studios!
We spent all day yesterday taking apart the pottery studio, pulling everything out and mopping, and then rearranging all the furnishings. It's like a brand new space, and I, for one, can't wait to start the new school year off right!
Big changes are in the works at 4P Studios!
Yesterday was an exciting day. We took apart the wheel-throwing and hand-building sides of the ceramics studio and swept and mopped, wiped everything, and did some major rearranging. We're ready to start the new school year at a run!
Here are a few snapshots before and after, featuring some of the fresh faces at 4P.

The summer is done and dusted, which means that autumn session of evening classes can begin! It's not too late to sign up!
Go to http://www.4pstudiosart.com to browse our selections and choose hand-built ceramics to see my available slots.
This session, I'm offering Monday and Tuesday night classes (from 6 to 8 pm).
Unfortunately, my manager (Harrison) is leaving 4P for some new experiences, so this session's wheel-throwing class will be lead by a new instructor. However! I have it on excellent authority that she's incredible, and you can find her classes on the 4P Studios page as well.
If you've been wondering what we're up to here at Scureman Clayworks, I've got two words for you: SUMMER. CAMPS.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support Scureman Clayworks and 4P Studios tonight! As a personal note, it means so much to me that you came and showed support for my work. This show was the culmination of a year's work, and it was such a wonderful night for me to get to show everyone the pieces and tell a few stories about them. To my friends and family especially, thanks for being there for me tonight and putting up with my anxiety. I appreciate you! β€οΈ
In all the excitement of setting up for my solo art exhibition - "Body of Work" is currently on display at the Roberts Road location of 4P Studios - I forgot to mention that I've officially been partnered with 4P Studios for a year as of May 18th!
I've made many life-changing choices during my time here on this big blue ball we call planet Earth, and working with 4P Studios has been one of the better ones. I love the people I work with like family, the environment is positive and engaging, and the students are inquisitive and eager to learn. Everything about my job here as an instructor of hand-building techniques is enjoyable and good.
Thank you for riding along with me during this fantastic adventure, and if you haven't already, please drop in at 3927 Roberts Road to see "Body of Work" and show support to our local Augusta artists!
There's still time to register for one of my summer clay classes!

Behold: my very first sculpture. Can you guess what it is? I made it way back in second grade. Here's a hint: it howls at full moons. That's right! It's a wolf! Obviously. ππ€π
My newest piece. I don't specialize in functional ware, so my latest projects have been experiments in broadening my horizons. Hopefully this platter will serve someone well once it's finished.
