Success, self-sufficiency, and social mobility through education, connections, and real-world experience.
There is a preparation gap for the young people entering the workforce. Many recent graduates do not believe that their educational experiences have prepared them for the personal and social aspects of work, and employers would agree with them. Without parents who are well connected and opportunities to access professional environments for the sole purpose of learning, where would young people develop such skills?
Historically, young women and young people of color have been excluded and underserved by mainstream initiatives, lacking access and experiences that would provide the professional skills they need. Young people across the country having been educationally underprepared for the future of work are left vulnerable without the tools and opportunity for progress.
Our theory of change centers the most marginalized. Our programs are designed to train and support young leaders who want to improve personally and professionally, practicing and proving their skills through implementing projects that positively impact their communities while gaining deep knowledge, context, and hands-on experience in their field of interest so that they can be successful in their personal and professional endeavors.
