On April 23rd, 2010, I almost lost my life due to a massive tumor (the size of a basketball; I have the pictures to prove it) on the right side of my abdomen area. The tumor was growing at such a fast pace that it also punctured my right lung and almost smooched my heart... That's how big it was... Due to the surgery and the tumor, I also lost my right kidney. I was in the hospital for 2 ½ weeks,
spent mostly in the ICU. The doctors gave my family a 0% chance of survival as I was taken into surgery, (so 100% chance of dying, not 50/50 or 30/70). Yeah, scary right!?! That day, April 23rd, people from All Religions, including Christians, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, and so forth started praying from all over the world; having known what was happening via text messages, Facebook, and phone calls. And the biggest miracle happened… I survived. It didn’t even end there, the tumor could have possibly been cancerous but after a long month’s wait for the results, it turned out to be benign. I live to tell the story and to let people know to seize the moment! I started beading my jewelry as a hobby after the doctors said I couldn’t work for a year. I started this to give thanks, which makes me happy! My jewelry has a religious theme to it; you can find crosses, stars of David, Hamsas, Buddhas, Nazars, and more. The inspiration for my work comes from the way people of different faiths sent me their prayers in my time of need. A portion of the profits goes to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, where children who are in need of treatment are never turned down or away, and to the National Kidney Foundation of Florida, which assists in the funding of future research and quality patient activities.
