When this flowered copper sheet arrived, I knew I wanted to utilize every bit of it that I could. This dainty pair of earrings is the most recent design from it. The flower really shows this time, even though it’s not complete.
Check them out at Auburn Arts Fest this weekend .
Another chance to show off my new textured brass metal. I like the look of a curvy shape with the angular, geometric texture. The second photo shows the brass color better than the first. (And note the webs I missed removing. The reality of sharing your photo area with wildlife!)
Be the first to see them at Hoff’s this weekend!
Inspired by vintage earrings, I’ve made more than a couple pairs of earrings in this shape. But this is the first time that I’ve created them in solid sterling silver instead of mixed metals. The sterling sheet was randomly stamped with leaves, and the earrings are about 25% smaller than the originals.
Available this weekend at Auburn Arts Fest.
New week, new show! This coming weekend I will be at Auburn Arts Fest , with more new pieces of jewelry in my booth.
Here’s a fresh dragonfly pendant in sterling silver over brass. (Siri thinks it’s a moth, but it’s a dragonfly, trust me.)
Even the local wildlife is enjoying the Sunflower Festival ! Come enjoy artists, fresh air, food and sunflowers
🌻
These sterling silver earrings were subtly textured using concrete.
You can see them, and lots of fabulous creations by other artists and crafters, in person at Sunflower 🌻 Fest in Auburn Township today 10-5. It’s a beautiful day to spend outside!
The sunflowers and the artists are all ready for the weekend!
Sunflower Fest start in just couple of hours, but I wanted to share one last pair of earrings. I’ve used this shape before, but I switched up the way they hang just a bit. The textured brass looks good in every shape I use.
Finished one last pair of flowery earrings for Sunflower 🌻 Fest . Earlier, I set up my booth in the sugar house, and, despite all the rain and wind this week, the sunflowers look fabulous! There will be over 40 artists and vendors, donkeys, music, face painting, food trucks and lots of fresh air. Come out for a fun time in the country!
Sunflower Fest fever week continues! These are little more like wildflowers than sunflowers, but wildflowers coordinate with sunflowers. 🌻 Now let’s see if I can get any more sunflower jewelry finished before the weekend…..
These half moon earrings are 1-7/8 inches (48mm) long, and will never wilt like real flowers.
For this year’s Sunflower Fest , I created a sunflower necklace! Using that very cool flower textured copper sheet, I fashioned a layered pendant on a sterling silver chain.
(For those who like matching necklaces and earrings, there are several new pairs of earrings that match this necklace. Hint, hint.)
Finally get to show off my newest textured brass metal! I’ve used this particular shape before, but it looks quite different with this angular, geometric texture. The second photo shows the brass better than the first.
They can be seen in person this weekend at Sunflower Fest in Auburn Township.
Another themed pair of earrings for Sunflower Fest! A bit larger than the last pairs (1-7/8 inches or 48mm long), but still incredibly lightweight. Perfect for flower lovers!
This isn’t a brand new pendant, but rather a makeover project. My original copper crescent-like pendant was passed over repeatedly, so I decided it needed an update. With help from my design assistance team, I chose a small sterling silver guitar pick shape with a lightly hammered texture to enhance it. Sometimes the original vision needs a little something more.
The first photo is the new pendant, and the second photo is the original. What do you think?
Finished several new pieces yesterday, just in time for upcoming back-to-back shows. These are abstract leaf earrings in textured bronze. Thanks to my horse loving friends I now think of this texture as saddle tooling. 😁
With Sunflower Fest only 8 days away, I thought it was time to debut some more flower earrings! I’m trying to utilize as many of the sunflowers that I can for themed pieces. This is one time where I’m carefully planning pattern piece placement to take advantage of the flowers, rather than just doing random placements on the metal sheet. Kind of challenging!

This textured copper makes me think of the camouflage effects of butterfly wings. (Siri seems to think so, too.) These earrings pack a visual punch, but only measure 1.5 inches (40mm) long.
Do you think of butterflies? Or is it just Siri and me?
A few months ago I used this same abstract leaf pattern in a larger size. Since some people prefer a somewhat less substantial earring, I decided to create this pair of earrings. Same shape, but about 25% smaller than the original. And this texture feels so elegant and refined to me.
(Any green tones in the second photo are simply reflections from my camera case.)
Another pair of flowery earrings are making their debut. They will coordinate nicely with all the wildflowers blooming alongside the sunflowers at IQ Maple Syrup’s Sunflower Fest next month!
The first photos show the copper and the slight bend that I gave them, whereas the third photo shows how they hang. You can see them in person August 10 & 11, 18266 Thorpe Rd, Chagrin Falls, OH.
Friday was a busy day with my saw! The textured copper was 4 inches long when I started, and the textured brass was 6 inches long. Yesterday and today I did a lot of filing/sanding, and sawed out more things. Too hot now to work in my temporary studio/screened-in porch, so I’ve been inside working on some new ideas.
Remembered my phone this morning, and I’m glad that I did! Sunrise was pretty, but the cool moment was when the deer came out. They meandered across the course and then stood and just stared at us for several minutes. Kya was going nuts and barking like crazy, and they simply watched her. Obviously deer around here aren’t fazed by much!
Every time I open a package from a supplier it’s like Christmas morning when I was a kid! Two fresh pieces of textured metal from to play with: I’ve used the floral copper many times before, but the geometric brass texture is brand new to me. Looking forward to playing with them both.
Back in March, I used this shape to fabricate earrings in brass and copper. This time I created a pair in bronze (this texture is similar to tooling on a saddle). It’s a variation on a shape from the past.
Finished these late yesterday, and couldn’t wait to photograph them, so I went out just as it started to rain. These brass earrings are similar in shape to a few other pairs I have done, but this texture gives them a different look.
The first photo shows the color better than the second photo, whereas the second demonstrates how they hang. Long and narrow, they measure almost 1.75 inch long and less than 1/2 inch wide (43mm by 12mm), perfect for anyone who likes narrower earrings.
When this flowered copper sheet arrived, I knew I wanted to utilize every bit of it that I could. This is the first finished pair of earrings from it. A bit more abstract than I planned, but sometimes the unexpected is a good thing, right?
Progress shot. Nothing new has been finished, so here are some pieces that were sawed last week. Finished jewelry coming soon!
Ending the week with another small pair of earrings, this time in brass. I always think of brushstrokes when I see this texture, but different suppliers call it different names. What do you think of when you see it?
Recently I’ve been on a roll with some smaller earrings. Not quite as big and bold as some, but still pack a punch. I do try to accommodate everyone’s tastes when it comes to earring size.
These copper earrings were created from what I think of as the “cinnamon roll” texture. (Not its official name, just what it reminds me of. 😂)
Last fall I collected a few smaller maple leaves for jewelry making purposes. (I tried some honey locust leaves, too, but they just weren’t that distinctive.) The third photo shows the original leaf after I highlighted the edges.
I used bronze, which is similar to the leaf’s current color, and the “stem” is sterling silver.
