Good morning from beautiful Guyana, have a great Saturday VGers.
Mount Roraima has a great northern prow which distinguishes it from Venezuela. That prow is 100% in Guyana. While many persons have climbed Roraima on the Venezuela side. Only 5 prior to 2019 have climbed it from the Guyana side. Majestic at a height of over 9000 feet.
Leo Holding is one of those people who in 2019, along with a team of 8 including two Guyanese Akawaios from the village of phillipai Edward James & Troy Henry climbed the mighty mountain. The expedition took about one month: From 8th nov to 5th Dec . Others on the expedition include Waldo Etherington, Wilson Cutbirth, Anna Taylor, Matt Pycroft, Dan Howard
According to Leo, it’s one of the most unique mountains in the world. In the first moments speaking with him, he told us, there’s not another mountain like Roraima in the world. While there are other Tepui mountains, just the scale of Roraima is exceptional.
VG: What’s your Favourite memory of this expedition?
LEO: That would be spending 4 nights up on the invisible ledge with all my friends, that team of 8 people. Watching the sun rise from on that wall was truly special. That was definitely a highlight.
VG: Your best takeaways from this experience.
LEO: The Jungle is full of beauty, life and colour. Compared to the hardships of the trip, the beauty of the forest cannot be overlooked. Guyana and Mount Roraima was kind to us. You know mountaineers never speak of conquering mountains. We believe, It’s the mountain that lets you get to the summit and lets you leave safely If you come with respect and remain humble. So we didn’t conquer Mount Roraima, Mount Roraima allowed us to get to the summit and Mount Roraima let us leave safely. The Akawaios have a saying “ Only those of pure soul will even see the mountain”.

Happy Diwali, Visit Guyana Family!
As we gather to celebrate the Festival of Lights, we’re reminded of the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Diwali teaches us that no matter the obstacles we face, light will always find a way to shine through.
May the brightness of each diya fill your home with warmth, love, and prosperity. May this Diwali bring you peace, joy, and the strength to overcome any challenges. Remember, even the smallest flame has the power to dispel the darkest night.
Thank you for being a part of our journey as we shine a light on the beauty of Guyana.

Our Story :Visit Guyana
The Visit Guyana page was started by Stacey Dos Santos Rahaman and is run by Her and husband Chris Rahaman
Shortly after leaving her job at the Guyana Tourism Authority, Stacey left Guyana to further her studies. While overseas she started looking for a suitable website to direct people to who constantly asked her about Info on Guyana and was shocked to see all the negativity online about Guyana. There was not one website or social media page which showcased a positive side of Guyana. The idea for visit Guyana was born.
“I remember being on my computer one night at 9 and Chris (My Husband and Co-founder) turned to me and said, “Why don’t you do something with that visit Guyana page”. I put up 2 posts and invited about 25 people and went to bed. When I woke up that number had grown to 200, by the next week we had 10,000 fans which have steadily grown to 139,000. I was amazed. Visitors wanted to learn more about Guyana. Guyanese overseas wanted things to remind them of home. The journey to create a 100% positive space to showcase all things Guyanese had begun.
Visit Guyana is privately owned and has no Government affiliation. However we do work closely with all tourism bodies and stakeholders in Guyana.
