News Release-Bright Angel Point Trail Closure to Begin June 21 on the North Rim
Beginning June 21, please note that the Bright Angel Point Trail on the North Rim will be temporarily closed for essential construction. π§
This closure is vital to ensure the safety of both staff and visitors during extensive repair work on the trail leading to Bright Angel Point. National Park Service crews will be actively replacing asphalt, moving large rocks, and operating equipment in these areas, necessitating the closure to all pedestrian traffic.
We urge everyone to adhere to designated trail closures and avoid attempting to go over or around them. Completion of this phase is anticipated by November 2024, but please be aware that schedules and closures may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. For the latest updates, visit our website at www.nps.gov/grca or inquire at the Roaring Springs Overlook Kiosk.
Although Bright Angel Point Trail will be inaccessible, rest assured that other breathtaking viewpoints along the Transept Trail and North Rim Scenic Roads will remain open for your exploration and enjoyment!

On National Bird Day, we are celebrating a record number of bald eagles observed at Lake Coeur dβAlene in Idaho in December!
Each winter from November through February, a migrating population of bald eagles visits the area to feed on spawning kokanee salmon. The 363 adults and 46 juveniles (409 eagles) observed on December 20th is the highest number going back 50 years.
