Dodge County's Wisconsin Blizzard 16u-Hurtienne team grabbed 1st in Verona today at the 'Hoops 4 a Cause' tourney. These boys are absolutely rolling this summer.

The 16u Dodge County - Hurtienne team just went into day one of their first NY2LA event and opened 2-0 including a OT thriller. They will be competing in the Platinum division tomorrow for the 'ship!! Go get'em boys!!

Eventually they will take a good picture, but not this week. 16u DC Blizz boys played a half squad tourney at the Dells today and went 3-0 to add a 'Ship-shirt.

The DC Deer Story

Dodge County Youth Basketball (DCYB) is designed to bring tournament basketball to the youth of Dodge County WI. The goal of DCYB is to expose the top youth basketball players of Dodge County to a higher level of tournament basketball, while being inclusive to as many players as possible.

The Leadership of DCYB is happy to introduce the Dodge County Deer program for the 2017-2018 spring tournament season. In this inaugural season, DC Deer will be open to boys 3rd to 8th grades. DC Deer should be "in addition to", not "in replacement of" school and city rec teams. The 2017-2018 season has been built to work in harmony with local school or local rec basketball programs, and also to make way for traditional spring sports in mid-April.

Basketball is a great opportunity for young athletes to learn about work, commitment, teamwork, success, setback, and perseverance. Our Coaches and Leadership understand the responsibility of molding and leading young athletes into the future leaders of our Dodge County area high school basketball community.

How the DC Deer came to be...

In the summer of 2014, Coaches Michael Michalovitz and Noah Johnson recruited a group of young high school basketball players to compete in summer basketball tournaments. Coach Mike and Noah helped that initial group of young men develop their game each summer. While those young men returned to their respective high school teams each winter, they continued to reconnect each summer to travel the upper mid-west to compete in select level tournaments.

In 2016, those initial young men graduated high school and moved into their college careers. The original DC Deer team amassed numerous high school achievements. They include (4) 1000 pt Scorers (Horicon, Mayville, Hustisford(2)), 10 all-conference selections, and Horicon HS’s All-time leading scorer. Most importantly, those original Deer contributed to 3 conference championships.

The Next Generation...

In Spring 2017 Coach Mike and Coach Noah sought to “reload” their program and expand it to include more young basketball players looking to be pushed in the sport. They banned together with Coach Ben Schwartz (St Stephen -Horicon) and Coach Jay Wald (St Matthew - Iron Ridge) to officially create Dodge County Youth Basketball. In 2017-2018 Coach Mike and Coach Noah will return to the bench to begin building the next generation of DC Deer through the DC Deer Youth teams.

DC Deer youth teams will not travel as far as the original DC Deer squad, nor will they play in the summer months, but they will be pushed to compete in bigger cities and against better competition than what is currently available in Dodge County. Competing at a high-level is important, however player and team development are the only true indicator of success.

Join Us...

As DCYB grows, continue to watch for opportunities to join our ranks. Each season begins with a Team Formation Practice. At the TFP’s players are evaluated, and team structures are created to custom deliver a positive basketball experience to as many players as realistically possible. While it is true that not all players participating in our Team Formation Practice will be invited to join our competition teams, it is DCYB’s goal to be as inclusionary as possible.
