Racine Extreme Flag Football
Southeast Wisconsin's only FULL-CONTACT flag football league. Check us out,........if you can hand
Racine Extreme Flag Football had to cease operations for financial reasons. We are a 100% non profit organization, which means we depend completely on sponsors and donations to operate.
A couple of years back, the city of Racine's Park and Rec department raised rental fees on the city parks where we play. The new fees are $50 per Field, per game. We have 12 teams - so we need 2 fields, each of which hold 3 games every week.
At that rate we would have to pay the city $300 each weekend - and we play 12 weeks = $3600.
That's $1600 more than we paid previously.
On top of Field rental, we have to pay our referees.
There are 3 refs for each game, and they are paid $25 per game - that comes to $450 each week for refs, and a weekly total of $750. Add $500 for equipment (flags, footballs, first aid kits, referee equipment) and our operational cost is $9500 each season. Teams would have to pay $800 just to play each year - or a full $100 more ham previous seasons. The city would not accept our offer to pay a flat fee of $2000 or even $2500 for a season, so we had to make the tough decision to fold operations.
Thank you to the more than 250 players and captains, to my outstanding group of referees, and to all of the sponsors and donors that helped make Racine Extreme Flag Football the best league in the Midwest for 5 years!
OKAY FOOTBALL FANS.........The Extreme Championship will be the prize this Saturday morning, when the undefeated Untouchables look to add another title to their history books. The line up against the Renegade at 10:00am.
Renegade is looking for revenge after losing to the Untouchables during the regular season.
Bring your lawn chairs and grab a good spot to watch this one everybody.
It's playoff time Ballers,... and all games are on
Ok ballers....here's the scenario:
This week is Position Round - its the last chance for the playoff qualifiers to better their playoff seed.
9:00am
Hitmen vs Anarchy = field #1
Machine vs Cudas = field #2
10:15
Renegade vs Vipers = field #1
Untouchables vs Enforcers = field #2
I apologize for the long hiatus from updating the page everyone - after several very busy weeks and out-of-town games with the Raiders, I had not received all of the score cards from the referees. The final regular season results are in, and the playoffs are just about set.
The original plan is to have a position round July 11, mainly to give teams an extra game to make up for the forfeit games we all had to endure - and it would set the playoff lineup. That is the current plan.......BUT, that scenario ends the season of the last place team NOW, with no extra game.
So how about this scenario.......
The playoffs begin July 11 with the schedule below, and continue the the following week to set up the 2 Championship teams - then on July 25 we hold an ALL-STAR game, where each team sends 4 guys to represent them and we choose teams - and the title game will be on August 1?
I'll wait for your input guys
We either go ahead with the original plan, listed below:
or change it up to add an All-Star game
Untouchables - Enforcers 10:15
Renegade - Vipers 10:15
Machine - Cudas 9:00
Hitmen - Anarchy 9:00
Week number one is in the books. Mother nature was not very kind to us today and a good stiff wind dictated most of the offenses. Here are the results:
In the early games, the defending champs the Machine, struggled to get going in the wind and fell 14-8 to the Renegade - and The Untouchables shut out the Cudas 22-0.
And in game two action the hitman pulled one out against the enforcers with a last second touchdown pass to win 12-6
And the Vipers gave America all they could handle in a 38-8 smack down.
Check back for next weeks line up
Ok ballers and football fans........ The 2015 season starts Saturday morning at 9:00am!!
Last week Mother Nature rained on our parade - literally! After 3 straight days of rain there was standing water on the fields so they couldn't even get painted. BUT...this week we're on!!!
It's week #1 and here's the line up
9:00am
Machine vs Renegade
Untouchables vs Barracudas
10:15am
Hitmen vs Enforcers
Vipers vs America
Anarchy has a bye
Everyone is chasing the Jimmy Lou trophy that The Machine has a strangle hold on! After back-to-back titles, let's see if anyone can wrestle it away from them.
GAME ON BOYS!!!
The last captains meeting wrapped up yesterday - now it's on to the season kickoff April 11.
Some captains still have to make payments sometime between now and then, but the schedule is all set.
The league has a bye Fathers Day weekend to accommodate the return of the Kraut Festival. Any players that are interested - the park manager has asked if we could help out, maybe parking cars and such. In return, they are willing to send some money our way, which would go toward next seasons field rental and in turn would reduce team fees. We can also have a tent set up out there to help promote our league - again it would be nice if we could have some players from each team out there to meet people and let everyone know what we are all about.
C'mon guys..... Do your part to help put Racine Extreme Flag Football on the map.
See you all April 11, when we all begin our mission to take that trophy back from the back-to-back champions, The Machine
1st Captains meeting of 2015 is in the books, and we had a pretty good turnout.
8 teams were represented, and potential rule changes were discussed. So far, 3 teams are paid in full and 2 others made deposits. Still need to hear from a few captains to know their intentions for this season. We have new teams interested so we need the existing teams to commit before we move ahead and decide to replace teams, or expand the league.
I need to hear from Aftermath, and Marvel, to know if you plan on returning for the season.
The potential rule changes that were proposed today will be voted on at the next captains meeting, which is Saturday, March 14
Captains meeting is at noon should only take about an hour
LEAGUE REMINDER:
First captains meeting for the 2015 season is february 15 at Joeys on Lathrop Ave.
We really need every team represented because there are a lot of changes taking place this season - mostly from the operational side of things.
Please let me hear from anyone that cannot attend, but do your best to have a team representative present
All Captains, referees, sponsors and players,
We will be holding our first captains meeting for the 2015 season on February 15 - at Joeys on Taylor just like last year. I hope everyone participating in the fall you URUSH league is enjoying success. Now as many of you know, I have become the new assistant general manager for the Racine Raiders - and with that responsibility I must relinquish some of the operational duties of Racine Extreme Flag Football. Jerry Pronto, our head referee, has agreed to assume the majority of the league operations. I made this decision for a few reasons. I am very very proud of the league that we've all put together. Each captain, player and referee are equally responsible for our league success. I'm confident that Jerry Pronto will maintain our leagues integrity, and continue to keep our league the best in the area.
The league name will stay the same, all sponsor checks and fees can still be made out to the same Racine Extreme Flag Football account. I will still remain captain of the Vipers, although my playing days I likely over.
I just underwent knee surgery last week, and will definitely be sidelined this summer.
My cell number is still the same, and I need to hear from all captains for confirmation that your team will be back this summer. Last season was very successful with 12 teams, and we may very well expand to 14 or 16 teams this year. That being said, team fees will be determined by how many teams we have and how many refs we will need. The plan is to have team fees at $600 this year - but again nothing is definite yet.
So fellow ballers... my phone line is open and I welcome any calls at any time from anyone confirming their team or requesting information.
