It’s now time to pick the winner of the EUSPBA 60th Anniversary March Contest.
Contest Directions:
First, the EUSPBA Executive Committee wants to thank all of our members who put their creative talents on display by submitting tunes – the response was tremendous. Members of the Music Board carefully sifted through the entries and have come up with five (5) selections. Current EUSPBA members should have received ballot through Simply Voting, the vendor EUSPBA uses for all its elections. The tunes are presented there. Special Announcement about the Ohio Scottish Games and Ohio Scottish Games and Celtic Festival
As you well know the weather forecast for Saturday is predicting dangerously high temperatures and humidity. The heat index will be well over 100. The EUSPBA is always concerned about the wellbeing of our members, and this situation is no exception.
For this Saturday, the Executive Committee is modifying the “Appropriate Apparel” section of the Rule Book. Competitors will not be required to wear a “dress shirt” nor bonnet in competition. Bands and soloists must wear a collared shirt (polo/golf shirts ok - no tee shirts). Bands will wear a uniform (all the same) shirt. Remember, the overall look must maintain the dignity of Highland dress. Bonnets will be worn during the mid-day parade and twilight tattoo.
Remember – be safe! With the proper precautions, the Ohio Scottish games can continue to be an enjoyable experience for all.
I am excited to announce the publication of my new pipe band drumming instructional book. With the success of my first two books, Pipe Band Drumming for the Very Beginner and Simplified Massed Band Scores. I decided to combined the two into one book. The new book is called Pipe Band Drumming for Beginners to Advanced Players (grade III). The first level takes you from practice pad to Grade V level drum scores. In the second level, I took the old massed band scores and reversed-engineered them. There is a simple, intermediate. and traditional setting. All three scores for each level can be played together with no discernable difference in sound.
The book consists of 46 pages of exercises, scores and commentary. If you are looking to start a teaching program for your drum corps, or if you already have one, I believe this book would be a great addition to your program.
