March is National nutrition month. The focus is on making healthy food choices and exercise. A few healthy food choices you could make may include, adding at least one fruit and vegetable to each meal. Also begin to replace sugary drinks with water. In doing so, you may begin to see an increase in your energy level.

Today is the last day of January. Did you make a New Year’s resolution or maybe a commitment to be better or do something better? Have you kept that promise to yourself? If not, what “clutter” got in your way? Clutter can be physical such as a cluttered kitchen or dirty laundry not picked up. It can also be a cluttered mind that tells you, you can’t improve or it’s too hard. These thoughts may keep you from making progress towards your dreams or goals. Goals such as regular exercise or developing healthier eating habits, so that you can improve your blood pressure or lower your cholesterol. Where have you let clutter get in your way? If you would like to know more about clearing clutter, send me a message.

Sugar Savvy
If you want to avoid excess weight gain throughout the holiday season, then you will want to pay attention to the amount of sugar you are consuming. Since sugar is present in just about everything these days, you will want to pay attention to food labels. A quick tip for figuring out the amount of sugar in a food you are consuming, is to keep in mind that 4 grams of sugar equals 1 teaspoon of sugar. An example would be if on a 6 ounce container of yogurt you read that it has 27 grams of sugar then you know, that particular yogurt has 6 3/4 teaspoons of sugar in a 6 ounce serving. Keep in mind that women and children are to consume 6 teaspoons of sugar a day and men 9 teaspoons. Happy Holidays.
