Fitness is a journey and sometimes the journey is difficult. We are more likely to achieve our goals when we have others to share with and cheer us on.
Happy New Year! 2022 is a year I'll never forget. I had a milestone birthday (yay!), but I also had two hospitalizations - one planned, one unplanned (boo!) My net weightloss was 0.3 (thank God I use decimals😄)
My planned hospital visit was for surgery. My fibroid tumors had gotten so out of control, I had to have an old school incision to get to them. I'm still mending, so I haven't been very active. I was excited to do line dances on New Year's Eve, but paid for it on New Year's Day. Babysteps.
I need to define a "why" because though I look more like the before photo on my profile and I booked my first cruise for the summer, my motivation to make changes isn't fully there.
I hope you had a Happy Valentine's Day.
Today I had my first workout in nearly a month after dealing with my fibroid tumors. They got so bad, I lost my appetite and every breath hurt, which lead to 7 pounds lost in two weeks.
I have to have a couple more tests before we decide the best course of action, but I was glad to feel normal today.
For once I didn't finish the year resolving to get on track with my fitness goals. I was content to keep moving forward on the momentum I had created and that was a good feeling.
I do have to confess that I let one week of overindulge turn into two and this time the scale reflected my choices when I weighed in on Thursday.
The good news is I've gotten back on track. I just finished day 1 of the 3 Day Refresh and yesterday I completed the first week of a new fitness program called Job 1. It's 20 minutes, 5 days a week. It's not easy, but for me it's hard to find an excuse not to complete a 20 minute workout. My plan is to finish the last 3 weeks after my cleanse.
Progress and a plan. I'm happy with that.
I'm so thankful to see another year. God willing, I'll be turning the big 5 0 this year!
I finally had my week. I made one batch of my favorite cookies and personally ate half of them, drank spiked egg nog, and I didn't track my eating. I did complete three workouts and got on the scale to face my fate this morning. Guess what happened? The scale was kind, so I'm ending the year 30.6 pounds lighter than last year, good momentum to start my milestone year.
I feel like the girl who cried wolf because I keep saying each week is the hardest week of the season for me, but this time I mean it. It's Christmas day, I had three glasses of eggnog last night, I'm making my favorite cookies today, and will be making my Thanksgiving turkey meal tomorrow.
I plan to get a workout in today and thanks to Tee Hansen , will be reeling it back in next Monday with a three day refresh. Though I have as Robert Frost said, "miles to go before I sleep", as I celebrate the birth of Jesus, I also acknowledge the fact that these classic pajamas didn't fit last year.
I really need to make my updates more often. I'll try to keep this shortish.
The week before last I got to 0.4 away from the 30 pound lost mark, then Mother Nature decided to make an appearance, so there went that. This week is my toughest week of the holiday. I tend to mentally get a little lax with portions and I'm making my favorite holiday cookies - peanut butter blossoms. Knowing the problem is half the battle, so that's a plus.
I've read the average person gains 8 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year. For once I'm going to try to be below average!
One of the nice things about going to someone else's house for Thanksgiving is there is no temptation to eat or guilt over throwing away leftovers!
I consider yesterday a success. I worked out before going, wore jeans that stayed zipped 😊, drank water before preparing my plate then filled it with a little sample of the foods I wanted. I was full, but not miserable. For dessert, I took slivers of two cakes just to get a taste and then after everyone got what they wanted, took two plastic forks of two others. The plastic forks ensured I didn't double dip and went in the trash right after.
I'm proud of myself, but Thanksgiving isn't my weakness, it's all the sweet treats of the Christmas season. To be continued....
I've been silent for a long time, so to quickly catch you up, my knee has healed, I joined WW, and I've done 2 rounds of Let's Get Up.
Thursday is my weigh day. Last week I gained 6 pounds. I knew some of it was temporary, but it still bothered me. When I stepped on the scale this morning, I was pleasantly surprised by a 7 pound loss, which brings me to my lowest in several years, down 28 pounds from my start, so I have extra incentive not to overindulge today. I promise to let you know how I do.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Long post warning. Yikes. I haven't checked in here since February 😱. Here's the latest. I finally gave in and went to the doctor to get my knee checked out. An x-ray showed there's fluid on my knee. A subsequent MRI shows arthritis in all three sections of my knee and bursitis. I am now awaiting an appointment with a specialist who I'm hoping will provide clarity on what exercises will be best and if I can do any further damage to the knee by doing what I want to do, which is Shaun T' s new program Let's Get Up https://share.coach.teambeachbody.com/?lang=en-US&postId=1144345&coachId=1760950&media=share
In the meantime, I joined WW and have lost 15 pounds, yay me! I know nutrition is the most important factor in weight loss, but exercise makes me feel good mentally, so I'm hoping for good news at the end of June.
