SFMOMA’s FOG Design+Art Preview Gala

Nearly 2,000 guests attended the event, including dealers, curators, collectors, and leaders from the art, design, business and tech communities.

FOG Design+Art opened on Wednesday, January 17th, with a sold-out Preview Gala at Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture, benefitting the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA)’s exhibitions and education programs.

Guests previewed the launch of FOG Fair’s newest platform, FOG FOCUS, and explored works of art and design from 54 exhibitors from around the world. Guests enjoyed McCalls’ culinary creations and design-centric cocktails, as well as music by DJ D Sharp in Pier 2.

The San Francisco Conservatory of Music held its annual fundraising celebration Jan 16 and raised more than $700 thousand for student scholarships, all part of efforts that enable students to access the Conservatory’s peerless education. The event, called The Fourth Hall, featured performances by acclaimed singer Joyce DiDonato at the Conservatory, alongside SFCM students and faculty. More than 400 guests also got an exciting preview presentation of SFCM’s new immersive digital opera hall. Guests were then taken to Storek in San Francisco for dinner and more student and faculty performances as well as the multi-talented Meow Meow. Food provided by McCalls Catering & Events with lighting by Got Light. This event was presented by lead sponsor Harry Winston.

Mayor London Breed proclaimed January 12, 2024 as “École Notre Dame des Victoires Day”.

École Notre Dame des Victoires (NDV), the oldest French school in the west, celebrated its Centennial on Friday, January 12, 2024 at City Hall in San Francisco. NDV students, faculty and alumni gathered in the City Hall Rotunda with Mayor London Breed and French Consul of San Francisco Frédéric Jung to recreate a historical 1960 photograph in which NDV students sang for French President Charles de Gaulle during his first official visit to the United States. After the photo was taken on Friday evening, Mayor Breed proclaimed January 12, 2024 as “École Notre Dame des Victoires Day” in San Francisco. NDV students then sang one French and one American song to conclude the festivities on the Grand Staircase. The exterior of City Hall was lit up in blue, white and red (bleu, blanc et rouge) in recognition of NDV’s 100th Anniversary.

The V Foundation’s “Dinner with the Duchess”

The V Foundation for Cancer Research has honored Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, by announcing the Sarah Ferguson V Scholar Grant for Breast Cancer Research, which was announced on October 27th at an intimate dinner at the home of long-time V Foundation supporters Michael and Carole Marks in Woodside, California. The special dinner was a part of a two-day visit organized by the V Foundation for the Duchess, who also attended the foundation’s annual Vintner Grant Honoree Luncheon the previous day in the Napa Valley. The evening’s meal was prepared by one of the top restaurants in the Bay Area, The Village Pub, perfectly paired with wines provided by Cyril and Blakesley Chappellet of Chappellet Vineyards, past Vintner Grant Honorees of the V Foundation Wine Celebration. The FUR BALL Benefiting the San Francisco Zoo

Young professionals and the young-at-heart gathered at San Francisco Zoo & Gardens on Saturday, October 14th for Fur Ball 2023: Into the Wild, presented by TPG. The event, which returned after a hiatus of nearly four years due to the pandemic, was expertly chaired by Zoological Society board members John Flynn and Marie-Claude Nadeau, under the auspices of “Zoo II,” a group of younger Zoo enthusiasts. Guests donned festive “bring out your wild side cocktail attire,” and danced the night away, while enjoying animal encounters, nighttime carousel riders, an open bar, and the hottest food trucks around. Proceeds from Fur Ball benefit the Zoo’s wildlife conservation programs.
