Basement Betties Finds

Basement Betties is a purveyor of unique finds, collectibles, antiques and even jewelry supplies! LOVER OF JUNK WITH A DASH OF HOARDER!

I love to collect and discover finds and refound goodies when I'm out at garage sales, antique stores, thrift stores and estate sales. I find things I need, as well as a lot of things I don't need, but think they are interesting or unique. And much of it finds its way into the basement in the end!!! As my tagline reads, "You'll never know what Bettie will find in her basement next!"

Realized I still have these and Easter is just around the corner. Collectible and Cute. Ready to ship! Tilly Brand bunnies. Come with stands, nearly 2 feet tall. Still have hang tags on them. Would be ideal as part of a retail display or for a gift to girl for her room on display. Hard to find!

So, Happy New Year! Facebook just posted to me that I haven't shared a post in 190 days! This account and page were a front so I can sell off my smalls, but my other business has kept me away from doing this unfortunately. However, new year and new plans! I'm going to continue with posting items in the Facebook shop I started. Will be gathering, photographing and listing a bunch of things soon. Stick around! I need to unload over 35 years of collecting!

Calling all scrapbookers, ephemera lovers, and especially sign shops, vintage stores and antique stores that want to beef up their signage with actual vintage looking pricing or signs for their products!

I acquired this really cool "Holes-Webway Co" brand sign carder, sign maker, price maker kit. It is from the 1920's and features three drawers of different sized letters and numbers as well as a big supple of sign cards. All of the little bins have plenty of letters and numbers in them. Each drawer contains a different size: 3/4" tall, 1 1/8" tall and 2" tall. The numbers are all red, the letters are all black. They are glossy on the fronts, a heavy cardstock material and then the backs have dry adhesive, so you would wet the back of each letter/number and it would adhere to your cardstock.

Scrapbookers can be in heaven with the amount of letters and numbers available to use in your creative endeavors. But I think a vintage or antique store could have fun with creating old time pricing or small signs about their stores using this kit. I think children would have a blast with this as well!

Look at all of the photos to see how cool this is! The case is in good shape, the snap is tight and works well. The case is about 20 inches x 18 inches and about 8-9 inches tall. Overall condition is good! I'm asking $50 OBO.

I can ship this, but will need your zip. It will ship nicely as it is a square item. It will be put in a larger box for safe shipping. PM me to arrange this.

I acquired this 1938 lithograph framed print under glass of the lovely young Shirley Temple. It's not faded or torn or anything. In fact, it's in really good condition, so it's likely been framed like this for a bit. Of course the signature is hers, but was part of the printing process, so NO, she didn't sign this for real!! If you collect Shirley Temple memorabilia, this would make a great addition on the shelf or wall. I'm happy to ship anywhere in US. Just PM me. I'm offering it for $25. I have a couple of other Shirley Temple items if you are interested.

Any Ballerina (Universal Pottery) collectors out there? I had a huge set for many years that I used daily in my kitchen. It was a mix of dark green, mint green and this burgundy. It is dishwasher and microwave safe and it held up so well. Any time I would see a plate here, a bowl there, I would buy it and my collection would grow! This sugar bowl lid was an extra one that I picked up and it was in a drawer and was packed when I moved recently, but I sold my entire collection last year. These lids often would get broken or just be missing, so here is one in perfect condition. No flea bites or anything. Just $5 and will ship. PM to purchase!

Just a quick post to say "THANK YOU" to all of the new followers. Our last post was months ago and stated we were moving to the Ebay platform and life has gotten in the way of that. We have the shop started, but we have not had time to populate with our merchandise. But we hope to soon as we have accumulated so many cool things in the past couple of months, like these two 1920's drums - a bass drum and a matching snare drum from the Leedy company. There is a sticker on the bass drum (see photo) that says "Bill Reinne" and after a little googling, we found a drummer in California that matches the age, but it gives "zero" info about the band name or any details. We can ship these drums and would like to sell them together. PM us if you are interested. Otherwise, just continue to follow Basement Betties and we hope to get the Ebay shop up and running soon!

Tried my hand at upcycling a couple of what I believe are old gas pipe lids. They are cast iron. I cleaned them up, gave each a shot of metallic spray paint and then found two round wood plaques and sprayed those black. Screwed the lids to the bases and Voila!! Now you have industrial looking desk containers for an office or shop. The lids open to hold paper clips, nails, pocket change or whatever! The gold one is 2.85" in diameter and the silver one is about 3.25". I think they turned out pretty cool! Don't you? I'll be happy to sell them if you have any interest. Just PM me!

Basement Betties is no longer selling on the Etsy platform but will be up and running on Ebay in the next month. In the interim, I can post items like the TON of hairnets I acquired in two styles. They are envelopes and each contains a hairnet. They would make creative displays for a beauty shop or for paper ephemera folks. I have over 75 of each style. If interested, PM me or email me: [email protected]! Happy New Year!

Original J & P Coats box filled with mending and darning thread. It is in pretty good shape for age! Great display piece. PM to purchase.

Please note that we will no longer be using the Etsy platform to list and sell our wonderful vintage finds! Etsy does not support credible sellers like ourselves, nor does it value their business. It's time for change! If there is something you see in our recent posts and you would like to purchase it, simply PM us and we can invoice you through Paypal, Zelle or Venmo. No worries! Thank you for your support and for following Basement Betties, where you'll never know what Bettie will find in her basement next!!

Any Ford Mustang folks out there? Check out this "like new" 1966 Ford Mustang Owner's Manual. It's in excellent condition. No writing, tears, creases, or fading. Just a little discolor around the left spine, but otherwise, it is completely intact, tight binding and really nice! FREE Shipping on this one!

Some goodies we came across. Notable is the big black whistle in the back that has a Scotty dog and "Scotty Toys" on the side. Also, the red and yellow one has an embossed cowboy on the yellow side with the word "Ranger" on it. Fun lot for crafts of just to have some really loud whistles at your disposal! Yes, they all work and are all very loud!! LOL Notable in the thimble lot is the hand painted porcelain one. Has the artist's initials "CAS" underneath what looks to be a purple teapot! A couple advertising ones and some metal ones, along with some solid colored ones make for an "instant collection"!

Lovely little Victorian framed print of two young girls. Lots of purple violets at the base of the print. Vibrant colors and who doesn't like an OVAL frame! The back is all original and has the original string for hanging and the sticker of the shop that did the framing!

[SOLD!!] Need a little art deco lighting for a small table or on a wall? We found this funky little lamp to be quite interesting. Made of a hard plastic and the arm can be adjusted (see the wing nut and slit up the arm of the lamp?). Pretty cool!!! Has a switch underneath the socket and a long cord that is in really great condition.

[UPDATE: SOLD!] This is a unique and rather rare little 3" diameter advertising tin. It's called "Hand Witch" and as side of the jar reads: "A Word to the Wise: It works instantly!" and is a "lightening dirt remover!". Great graphics in reds and blues and much of it is pretty clear and easy to read. Superb addition to your metal tin collection or a cool piece for your apothecary cabinet of curiosities.

[SOLD!!] Check out this little antique work of art!! It's a miniature hand welded metal bicycle that stands a mere 2 inches tall and is almost 4 inches long. The detail is awesome as the artist took the time to cut the metal pieces smaller (which meant more welds) in order to make the bicycle as accurate as possible. Note the curvy handlebars, the banana seat, the kickstand that allows it to stand on its own, and the links in the bike chain too!

Nice lot of 3 vintage brushes and one mirror! The clear handled brush is really interesting and the handle is so pretty! PM to purchase!

[UPDATE: SOLD!] Any flower frog collectors out there?! 🌼+🐸 Bet you've never seen a floral frog like this one before!!! Unusual, and likely handcrafted by a metalsmith. Pretty cool piece and would stand out among your collection!

🎶"Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?!"🎶
Okay, I know, Christmas is far off, but we just listed some antique sleigh bells that date back to the 1800's and wanted to let you know! Selling at a great price for the lot of 5 bells, in graduated sizes. Would be ideal strung together on a leather cord and hung from your door k**b! They all have their ringer balls and with all being a different size, the collective sound they make is wonderful! Separately, folks sell these for $24 or more each. We are selling the lot of 5 for $34.95.

25/07/2021

[SOLD!!] Nice lot of metal advertising tins. The JR Watkins Pepper tin is the value of the price of the lot alone!! All are in great shape, vivid colors all operate as far as their lids, with no holes or rusting out anywhere. Ready to be shelved and showed off! Click thru to snag them! Just $26.95 for all four!

24/07/2021

[SOLD!!!] We've been quiet for a while, but not any longer! They are SO. WELL. MADE!!! We are guessing these are early 1900's because of the weight of the cotton and how well they are constructed. Nearly identical with exception of their bodices and both are likely knee length. Arm holes are small, but so were the women back then, although these could have been made for young ladies. Priced below a majority we compared them to on the Etsy Marketplace. We have these listed at just $24.95 each.
