Jess believes the State Legislature needs new leadership and fresh ideas to help Arkansas families get ahead. Jess is currently the managing partner of the Peter Miller Law Firm. Prior to becoming an attorney, Jess clerked for Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, Circuit Judge Chris Piazza and at the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney’s office. Jess was a Governor’s Distinguished Scholar at the Univ
ersity of Arkansas at Fayetteville and graduated with a BA in Political Science. She received her juris doctorate from UALR Bowen School of Law. Jess grew up in Morrilton. Her mother, Janna, is a former college professor and her father, Bart, is an Arkansas Court of Appeals Judge. Jess is licensed to practice in Arkansas state courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. She is a member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association, the Arkansas Bar Association, the Pulaski County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the American Bar Association. She does pro bono work for the Center for Arkansas Legal Services and is a supporter of Our House. Jess is married to Trey Mallett, and they have one daughter, Anna. Jess is seeking the Democratic nomination. Once the nominee, she will face Republican State Representative Jim Sorvillo. House District 32 is located in Pulaski County and covers portions of West Little Rock.
