There are no words for how proud we are of these outstanding young people! They are beginning their TMEA All State experience tonight with auditions (and all state jazz rehearsals). And we’ll be watching the Airmen of Note later tonight!
It’s official... the Hanks Band has TEN Texas All State band students! The most in El Paso, the most in the Area, and the most in the history of Hanks high school! In addition to our three all state jazz students(Bert, Diego, and Jacob), congratulations to:

After several rounds of auditions, competing with students from all over Texas (Regardless of school classification), they came through as some of the best jazz players in Texas! Oh, and they did it all right in the middle of marching season! We’re very proud!
Our best performance of the year at the Texas SMBC put a cap on a GREAT marching season. We couldn’t be prouder of this group of kids!
Friends and alumni, we are in San Antonio! For anyone in the area, we’d love to see you today! We perform at 3:45 in the Alamodome. Also, we are rehearsing at Harlandale Memorial Stadium at 11:00, and its open to all! Live streaming is available here:

Named TOB champs last night, and on the road to San Antonio this morning. Time to put a cap on this terrific marching season at the State Marching Contest!

What an amazing learning opportunity we’ve had the last 4 days! 2 days with our leadership team and 2 days with the best drum majors in the city! Thank you Robert Selaiden and the whole SASI team for another great camp! Best turn up ever for the Drum Major camp! Thank you Directors!

To all alumni, friends, and band families past and present: please come and see the band perform TONIGHT at Excalibur stadium! The game starts at 7:00 and we perform at halftime. It is our last tune up performance before the NMSU Tournament of Bands tomorrow! Our prelims performance tomorrow will be at 3:15, and finals begin at 8:00 PM. Come and see any or all of our performances! You will NOT be disappointed!

Congrats to these amazing students for making Texas All State Band! They will be joining our two All State Jazz students (Mathew Quesada and Jesus Escobar) in San Antonio for the TMEA All State Convention in February. Way to go!

Congratulations to the Hanks Band for finishing 15th in the state at today’s Texas SMBC! We are extremely proud of our students! What a great way to finish the season. Thank you to all the parents for the countless hours of work you do for us! We could not do it without your help. And to the wonderful lesson teachers that share their musical talents with our students as well as the Hanks area band staff, we are truly blessed to work with such talented people.

Congratulations to the Hanks band on qualifying for the Texas State Marching Band Championships Nov. 6-8 in San Antonio! Super proud of these hard working students. Thank you booster parents and volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to make things happen. Also, a big congrats to the THREE other El Paso area schools that qualified: Horizon High School and our fellow YISD schools, Bel Air and Del Valle!
