We take these few moments to celebrate
this special and sacred time of year.
And to wish you and those you love
a grace-filled, joyous and nurturing
holiday season.

It is a time when the busyness
of the world slows, even if only briefly,
and many of us return,
if not in person, then in our minds and hearts
to be with those we love
and to experience or revisit those moments,
whether few or many, in which the spirit
of gathering, of generosity and of nurturing
that marks this tender time of year
somehow touched and enriched our lives.

So this year, as we make
these inner and outer pilgrimages,
let us allow our experiences to remind
us of how precious this gift of life truly is
and how grateful we are for
the many opportunities it offers us,
even in a very challenged and troubled world,
to learn what we are here to learn,
to love those we here to love,
to forgive those who may have disappointed

Dear Friends and Family,

The longer we live, the more appropriate it seems to us that each year we have the opportunity to begin this series of year-ending holidays and holy-days with this day called Thanksgiving.

Appropriate and so very valuable to be reminded of how essential the gift of gratitude is. For it not only opens our hearts, enriches each and every one of our relationships, and allows us to reconnect to our humility, compassion and love, it also allows us to touch, even if only occasionally and for a few moments at a time, that which is sacred.

Some of our favorite wisdom keepers help us to remember this truth. Lynne Twist reminds us that “what we appreciate appreciates.” Meister Eckhart, cut through to the essence when he said. “If the only prayer you ever say is thank you, that will be enough.” And this truth that Thich Nhat Hanh, who we once had the privilege of spending a blessed week in retreat with, demonstrated so gently and profoundly. “Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.”

So we want to take this opportunity to tell you how grateful we are for you. For your kind and generous support of the work we are privileged to do with ‘people who weren’t born yesterday and with younger people who are now inheriting the future. Your participation and willingness give us both oxygen and courage to continue the climb.

May your celebration of Thanksgiving be rich and tender, joyful and full of hope and wonder for you and those you love. May you and they take advantage of this opportunity to express your individual gifts and talents with each other and, in turn, to receive and appreciate theirs. And may you and they take full advantage of this precious gift of life that allows us all to pursue the dreams we came here to live and, along with way, to laugh and love a lot and just keep getting better at being human.

This season has come in so gently with cooler, soft breezes and beautiful colored leaves. The Cherokee say this is the time of the "change over," the time of letting go of the old and a welcoming to the new.

We have the choice now to let go of the old divisive winds. We are all tired of the unrest. We can move into this new season with a commitment to peace, compassion, integrity and freedom for us all. Let's each do our part to make this our new season of hope.
