Port of Indecision

We visited the Black Forest while we were cruising down the Rhine River on a Viking Riverboat on our way to Basel, Switzerland. This stop was part of the free excursion offered by Viking at each port, but it was really more of a shopping event for some versus a visit into the Black Forest. Unfortunately, we had a rather wet and soggy visit to the Hofgut Sternen Black Forest Village, but we made the best of it by turning our visit into a beautiful albeit wet hike along the beautiful Ravenna River. The hike consumed almost all of our time at this stop which had shops full of cuckoo clocks, with a demonstration of how they were made, and also glassware. There was also a bakery where they made the famous Black Forest cake, but by the time we got back they had all been consumed or purchased. It’s always tough to be an international tourist and go shopping knowing that you have to carry it for the rest of the trip and then all the way home. We will probably visit the Black Forest again on a land trip and spend some time in the villages, but for now our hike along the Ravenna River must do. Patti and I sailed on the Celebrity Beyond in November 2024 as we cruised Grand Cayman and the A, B, C islands with Captain Leo and Cruise Director Alejandro. Patti and I just cruised the A, B, C islands with our first stop in Grand Cayman in November. We booked our own shore excusrion with Captain Marvin and were very pleased with the day even though we had no sunshine. This video is of our shore excursion with Captain Marvin's Tours which included three stops. We snorkled at the first stop, fed and held Stingrays at the second stop, and snorkeled by a barrier reef at the third stop. We were able to walk to Captain Marvin's office in less than 10 minutes from the port where the tender arrives and we signed in and waited for our tour. The bus departs right from the office and it is approximately a 15 minute ride to the boat. We've done Sting Ray City tours in the past, but my wife and I agree that this was the best tour experience starting with the transportation, beautiful boat (Cayman Jewel), crew, and ofcourse the snorkeling and stingrays experience. We also had a wonderful tour with Sea Cown Snorkel Trips in Bonaire and I'll be posting a video on that later this week so don't forget to subscribe and click the bell for notification of when I upload the video.
