The truth is:

This might ruffle some feathers, but I’m feeling spunky today, so let’s talk about pricing in the Coaching industry. 🤣👇

There’s been a lot going on in the coaching industry and many coaches have adjusted their prices.

We’ve seen big names roll out payment plans, unbundle their signature offers and introduce low cost programs.

Others will tell you they haven’t lowered their prices and are making more than ever. (and often follow with a condescending remark about fixing your mindset)

So, what gives… Is this a mindset issue or an economic issue?

Here’s my take:

Pricing is based on the value you provide.

It’s the numerical representation of Your Experience + Client Results + Your Niche.

The economy doesn’t impact your experience or the results your clients get, but it does affect your niche.

For Example:
A Coach that works with clients making $250k+ this year are working with people in a different tax bracket than the coach serving middle class families.

Which means the economic impact on their ideal clients varies.

Does this mean every coach should lower their prices? No.
Does this mean “no one” is buying high ticket programs? No.

But, if you’re a coach that has always been selling, and now you’re starting to hear the money objection….

It’s time to look at how the economy may be impacting your niche.

And, remember, if the economy is impacting your Niche, it doesn’t mean you need to take a pay cut…

But it might be time for a creative solution that can ease the payment load for your clients, while keeping your pay high.

In fact, this is how my client went from hearing no after no….to closing an $8,000 PIF sale.

The keys to launching 👇

Big shoutout to my client who just crushed her first group launch – she made over $5k and nailed a 100% close rate on her calls. 🥳

So many people overcomplicate launches.
They make it sound so hard with funnels, timelines, and all the bells and whistles.

But the truth is, there’s only one thing you need for a successful group launch:

✨SALES✨

And this client poured all her energy into learning how to sell.

Get this: The first time she watched the Sales Call Framework lesson, she closed a $1000 sale within the hour. 💸

Whenever she felt wobbly about an upcoming call, she went back to that lesson.

Here’s how 👇

I used to freak out about sales objections;

It felt weird and uncomfortable.

But once I learned how to actually use them ….

Sales started popping 😂

FOR EXAMPLE:

>>Objection: I don’t have time.

You have two choices.

1). Shorten the time until your clients get results or

2). shorten the PERCEIVED time it takes.

Ex, think of creating a tracking sheet or smaller benchmark goals.

>>Objection: it’ll take too long.

Break the steps into micro steps so they get to feel accomplished right away.

Ex, I created 15 min lessons inside the $100k launchpad instead of a making every lessons over an hour.

>>Objection: I can’t afford it

You have two choices.

1). Calculate how much money they’ll make or save by working with you so you can EASILY convey the value. Or

2). Offer payment plans.

Ex, I started offering a payment plan for the $100k Launchpad and it has really helped some people get started sooner. ♥️

When you avoid objections out of fear and discomfort, it gets weird.

When you take the objections you hear and SOLVE FOR THEM IN YOUR SALES PROCESS OR PROGRAM,

You have a solution to their concern.

and now you can easily address it on the call.

[TRUE STORY] I once hid in the bathroom stall at work to close a $3000 deal.

Then sent a celebration text to my husband with approximately 13 emojis and 27 exclamation points...

And went back to my desk, pretending like nothing cool had just happened. 🤣

I was working a full time job with 3 kids in sports when I made my first $100k.

Tons of people ask me HOW. Here's what I say:

It’s not more time that gets you to 6-figures; it’s your strategy.

Yesterday, one of my students… 👇👇

I was the call with my clients yesterday, and one of them updated me on her sales.

She had:

>2 people say yes, but one is getting cold feet.
>Plus, she has another that she thinks will be a yes.

So we went through her sales call process.

We identified:
1] why the one getting cold feet hadn’t paid
2]how to handle it with her now, and
3]what adjustment to make in future calls.

This is the first time she’s ever launched a group program like this….

And she is already looking at enrolling her first 3 clients!! 😍

But probably even more….

Bc she ain’t done yet. 😝

She’s just warming up.

Unpopular opinion: coaches shouldn’t charge their worth.

There are a lot of overpriced coaching programs that don’t deliver nearly enough value compared to the investment.

…because they’ve been coached to “charge their worth.”

In an industry where only 3% of Coaches are making 6-figures, it’s time to clear this up:

When your pricing and self-worth are tangled up together:

-You stress over your pricing.
-You worry what people think of you.
-You feel like a failure if your sales dip for a month.

When you untangle your pricing from your self worth:

+You calculate your price based on the results your clients get
+Because your pricing is based on the value you calculated, you know it’s accurately priced
+You’ve separated your self worth from the results in your business; which means the highs and lows don’t determine your mood

Your self worth is determined internally.
Pricing is a business decision.

The bigger the results + the better you are at getting clients this result
= the more you can charge

That’s it.

I didn’t fit the mold for coaches I saw online.

-I wasn’t a 20-something year old shoving her Louis Vuitton shoes into her Gucci bag, and posting about her cocktails by the pool in Bali.

*Reality: I was a middle-aged mom with 3 kids and a full time job who just glued her high heel back onto her shoe.

-I didn’t have gobs of open space on my calendar or the luxury of crashing with a friend if I couldn’t make rent.

*Reality: We had a mortgage and 3 kids in sports (IYKYK).

-I didn’t have an audience of people that saw me as an expert.

*Reality: I worked in the actuarial field and had 500 FB friends, 100 LI connections and zero IG.

So when I was told that ads were a shortcut to get you in front of HOT BUYERS, I bought in!

I made money from ads, but fast forward 6 years later…

👉Only 6% of my income has come from ads; 94% is from my organic content👈

If there’s one thing I want to help you understand, it’s this:

Ads are not a magic potion for growing your business. In fact, a lot of people lose money on ads.

The biggest key to business is knowing how to communicate the value of working with you…

1). Learn what your clients actually want.
2). Figure out how to relay this to them online (in writing, video, whatever)
3). And get really good at sales.

These organic strategies will make you hundreds of thousands of dollars.

And then you can decide if you want to pour money into ads.

Just with these changes:

1). Her capacity is no longer limited by HER time.
2). She’s able to reach more people online with her monthly class.
3). She’s able to expand her offers without taking more of her time to deliver.

The sky’s the limit and I can’t wait to celebrate her next $100k with her.

REMEMBER: The decisions you make today give you the business you have 6 months from now. 😘

Q1 was wild. I didn’t hit my income goal, but…

The work I did is what will create the biggest, most explosive growth my business and clients have ever seen:

Every quarter is a growth quarter in business.

That growth is either external (sales) or it’s the backend, behind the scenes work to create bigger sales at the next level.

Regardless, the work you do today is building the business you have 6 months from now.

Here we go ⬇️

I learned to be the “good girl” growing up.

Get all A’s ✅
Make the honor roll ✅
Take AP Classes ✅
Be a cheerleader ✅
Major in Stats + Econ ✅
Graduate with a 3.8 GPA ✅
Get a job that impressed people in the actuarial field ✅
Work said job for 20 years ✅
Be content with a pension and a 401(k) ✅
Pretend to be happy with the monotony of corporate life ✅

And when you feel like a caged animal looking for a way to grow and make a bigger impact than what’s possible between those 9-5 walls;

You should do the only socially acceptable thing and….

Look for a different job. ✅

The only problem was that 90% of the world didn’t understand my skill set from 2 decades in the actuarial field.

I was pigeon holed.

And then one night I was laying in bed with the usual Sunday night insomnia, trying to figure out my next move, when I heard it….

It sounded like someone whispered in my ear,

“You’re meant to be an entrepreneur.”

My eyes shot open.
I was alone.
My husband was still downstairs.

I sunk deeper into my pillow, my heart racing and my eyes stuck open…

Holy s**t. It felt like God had whispered in my ear.

I was terrified, but I knew this was it.

Getting another regular job wasn’t my next move.

Starting a business was.

And being the “good girl” that followed everyone’s rules wasn’t going to get me there.

I knew people were going to think I was crazy…

I was almost 40.
We had 3 kids.
And I worked FT.

Plus, I had no idea what kind of business I’d start.

The only thing I knew for sure was that I had to shed the “good girl” persona I’d lived in all my life.

6 years, a neck tattoo and multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars later…

I’m so freaking glad that I did.

Here’s The Deal ⤵️

Pricing has gotten out of control in the coaching industry.

Too many people are overcharging to prove something to their coach friends or mentor.

And too many mentors are preaching that ‘more is better.’

More isn’t always better. In fact, you can price yourself out of sales.

BUT…I also don’t recommend new coaches get stuck trying to sell a low cost program.

Here’s why ⤵️

Higher ticket programs are the fastest way to scale a new coaching because:

1. You’re new.
2. You probably don’t have a very large following online (if any).
3. You don’t have an audience of people that see you as an expert in this niche (yet).

Data drives successful decisions.

So, let’s play with the numbers for a moment…

With a $500 program, you need 200 people to hit $100k.

With a $1000 program, you need 100 people.

If we increase your price to $2k, you need 50 people…

And if we bump you up to a $5k price, you only need 20 clients to make $100k this year.

But, You can’t just slap a $5k price tag on your $1000 offer and expect it to sell 👉 that would be overcharging for what you’re providing.

💣Your program must be structured to command a $5k investment

💣You must know how to sell a $5k program

💣You must be able to articulate the value of a $5k program

When you have these pieces in place, the value of what you’re providing is balanced with the investment…

And you start filling your $5k offer. 💸💸

The scariest trend to hit IG 😯 👇

The internet is full of coaches sharing their wins…

But Here are some of my biggest “OH SH*T” moments that made me want to cry as an entrepreneur. 😮👇

[ #𝟏] The time a disgruntled client did an IG livestream titled, “𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤.”

This was over 4 years ago and was the first (and only) time I ignored the red flags during the sales process. 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯.

[ #𝟐] The time my 𝐕𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 and used it “mad libs” style to create and promote her own business.

Thank God I already had a great attorney that handled this for me. But, dang. It was stressful to deal with!

[ #𝟑] The time I paid $25,000 to work with a mentor that was supposedly “the best.”

In reality, I paid $25k to be lost in a sea of 85 faces on Zoom. She didn’t know me or my business. 𝐈𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐈 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥’𝐬 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞… 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭.

Either way— I learned why you don’t hire based on hype; you hire for support.

[ #𝟒] The time I hired a Sales Person to run my sales calls because I didn’t want to learn how to sell. Spoiler Alert: it didn’t go well and, in fact, 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝.

I learned the hard way that it’s nearly impossible to outsource something that you haven’t learned how to do yourself.

Truthfully…Every business owner experiences hard things.

I survived each of mine, and you will too. 💗

P.S. I saw this trend of sharing the honest things we deal with in business. It was scary to post this, but I think it helps to talk about these things. You aren’t alone…. We all experience these things.

It was the scariest week of my life.

On NYE 2018, my husband rushed me to the hospital with massive internal bleeding.

I was hospitalized for a week and had 3 blood transfusions, 2 iron infusions and more tests than I can even count.

As I laid there, my husband said, “I think we need to talk about something.”

My heart dropped. I thought he was going to tell me that life is too short for me to spend so much time building this business that had barely made any money; that I should be spending those hours with our kids.

But when I asked him what he meant….

He said, “I think we should do the HMO option for insurance instead of the HSA”. 😂😂

It was the first time all week that I mustered up a little laugh and said, “Definitely.”

But I kept thinking about my business…

2018 was my first year in business and I’d only made $5,000.

Was this a sign that I was on the wrong path?

Was God trying to tell me to stop spending every second I could building this business and just focus on my family?

But then I realized something…

Life is far too short to spend 35 hours a week commuting to and working a job I didn’t love.

I laid there and realized *this* moment was the exact reason why I needed to make my business a success.

God was showing me just how important it was to keep going.

For my future clients.

For my own sanity and happiness.
And most of all – for my kids.

I wanted a life where I could be home and not feel guilty taking time with my family, where we can travel more and I can drop everything at 9:00 am on a Monday to pick my kiddo up if he’s not feeling good (without the corporate guilt).

So, I kept going.

That next year, I only made $20k.
and I kept going.

Then....in 2020, I crossed the $100k mark and boy did I celebrate!

I know some of you are being really tested right now.

But remember, glass breaks under pressure where diamonds are formed.

You get to choose if something is your reason to quit or your reason to continue.

5 Random Truths About Making $100k as a Coach that will help you get there faster:

1. Signing clients is the fastest way to exponentially grow your business. You learn so much more from marketing, selling and serving paid clients than you ever will thinking about selling coaching or building a website.
