Missing my mother today. She was a tender soul who took us to play sports, concerts, and threw amazing birthday parties. This song is about all the faint memories we have of our loved ones and why we forget so much over time. It’s about how random our memories can be and how the some questions will always go unanswered.

Once at a house show I heard the crowd singing my song back to me. I was so overcome in hearing the lyrics, the tune, the emotions of my work being mirrored back to me I became distracted and overwhelmed. I had such a moment I fumbled over a few words and stopped singing and allowed the room to carry the song forward. I felt taken care of, seen, upheld, and loved. I have not played many shows since Covid. I miss my audience, my friends, my people very much.

Artists who major in marketing and minor in music have a better chance at success in the current industry. The artists who suck at marketing (like me) seem to struggle. Often it’s not correlated to skill, talent, or work ethic, but to gimmicks, s*x appeal, and a savvy online “influencer” sensibility. I just want to create kick ass music, not spend hours a day researching how to market, promote, use algorithms, spread hype, distribute, and monetize my music. There are some amazing things in the works currently. Love all you who give a s**t.
