When we live in a society that literally PRAISES being stressed… we become so committed to it that it may even feel unsafe to NOT be stressed.
Think about that for a second.
We get bonuses for working overtime and high fives in the office while working through lunch.
Every message around us is a constant reminder that we’re only worthy if we produce more.
And in this chronic stress state (high cortisol production):
1) Digestion is impaired – it can both delay emptying stomach contents and speed up passage of material through the intestines, impacting nutrient absorption
2) We experience mood changes
3) Our adrenals are overtaxed, leading to HPA axis dysfunction
4) Our gut bacteria are impacted which can trigger pathogenic (the bad guys) bacteria and encouraging dysbiosis (imbalance) and leaky gut (intestinal permeability).
5) Our serotonin production can lessen, which is our feel-good hormone.
So if you’ve been dealing with chronic issues and you don’t know where to start, look at your stress!
If you’re constipated (or struggle with diarrhea): check your stress levels.
If you’re trying to lose weight and doing all the things but nothing is changing: check your stress levels.
If your hormones are out of balance: check your stress levels.
If your gut is out of balance: check your stress levels.
If you need help with this: DM me 🤍
There is hope!
XO,
Betsy Vedder

✔ Crash diets
✔ Intense cleanses
✔ Fad health trends
👉 Do you know what they all have in common? A high likelihood of failing, feeling discouraged, and not following through toward your health goals. They’re unsustainable, and therefore, not going to help you heal.
🍋 I see too many people take an all or nothing approach when it really should be making choices that better your health as consistently as you can. Then stacking more attainable habits on top of the ones you’ve established to create a daily wellness routine that sustains you.
I was just talking about this topic with my trainer, when we covered the topic of coaching patients through where they are, would I just give up on someone who refused to quit smoking since they’re already sabotaging their health? Or would I give them all the tools they need to support the other areas of their body that they can impact to give them the support they need where they are in their season of life?
The latter is the right choice and it should be the choice you choose for yourself too!
You know you want better health and crash diets and fad health trends won’t get you there.

Food is fuel for our bodies. Think about your car. It won’t run without gas. It also won’t run on grape soda – or other non-fuel liquids. Your body works the same way, it runs at its optimal performance when you fuel it with nutritious, whole foods. Whole foods act as medicine to heal and protect your body and boost your immune system. But when you fuel your body with processed foods, chemicals, preservatives and additives, your immune system is lowered, and your digestive system slows down. This is because these things are all devoid of nutrients and hard for the body to process.
Healthy, nutrient-rich and alive foods help your body at the cellular level and build strong defenses enabling you to combat illness and environmental toxins.
What's on your plate today?
Good health is the result of a multitude of daily decisions. It’s not found in a pill or shot or even one supplement, but compounded from daily choices that add up to long term health.
It comes from choosing what goes into your mouth, how often you move your body, getting to bed on time, stressing less, drinking water, and other daily choices that you have control over.
If you feel lost, start with these basics! Then once you master them, add in more like infrared saunas, cold baths, rebounding, supportive supplements, essential oils, dry skin brushing, removing toxins from your home, and so much more.
You can do this – I promise! Choose better for yourself.
It’s your habits that add up and your job to do these basic things for your long-term health.
If you want a coach, a plan, and a group to cheer you on – today is the LAST day to enroll with my gut healing course, Go With Your Gut! This 8-week program gives you the framework, the foods that can help, recipes for support, education, and lifestyle habits to help you restore balance to your microbiome.

Gut Healing Chicken Soup and why I LOVE it!
BUT FIRST, grab this recipe in my FREE guide:
https://view.flodesk.com/pages/61b393213d946afb20c7159c
Any time I work with someone who has gut health issues, whether it’s intestinal permeability (aka leaky gut), a bacterial or parasite overgrowth, SIBO, SIFO, IBS symptoms…literally anything, I recommend bone broth and homemade soup. This particular soup is so nourishing, filled with healthy minerals, fat and protein, and the glutamine in the broth is the preferred fuel for your gut cells.
Not only is this soup super nourishing for the gut, it’s also immune supportive! This food is rich in gelatin and collagen and that is the most important ingredient when it comes to healing and sealing leaky gut and strengthening all connective tissues in the body.
Slow cooked meals will provide you with abundance of nutrients. B group vitamins and minerals delivered in most digestible and absorbable form. As you progress with your gut healing protocol, you will be able to introduce more fiber and fresh vegetables, grains, beans and fruits.
However right at the start when you are feeling bloated and you are reactive to so many foods, you may find that the only thing that makes you feel at ease and doesn’t cause any adverse reactions, it in fact a chicken soup, beef stock, fish stock and slow cooked foods.
What I’ve found is that slow cooked meals are often the best to eat in the first stage of dietary intervention to rebalance digestion.
Things you could add to change up your soup or to add more nutrients:
Mushrooms
Zucchini
Bok Choy
Ginger
Green Onions
Cilantro
Green Peas
Bell Peppers
A splash of coconut milk makes this soup SO delicious!

Leaky gut syndrome is a digestive condition that affects the lining of the intestines. In leaky gut syndrome, gaps in the intestinal walls allow bacteria and other toxins to pass into the bloodstream.
Leaky gut may cause or contribute to the following symptoms:
• chronic diarrhea, constipation, or bloating
• nutritional deficiencies
• fatigue
• headaches
• confusion
• difficulty concentrating
• skin problems, such as acne, rashes, or eczema
• joint pain
• widespread inflammation
Want to learn more about how to solve your gut issues? I created a program to help you learn AND implement steps on restoring your gut health.
My 8-week program, Go With Your Gut, walks you through 8 modules of learning, gut healing foods, weekly meals and recipes, gut balancing habits, suggested supplements, live coaching calls, and group and email support!. Sign up for our next group starting in January!

Inside our bellies, we have an extensive intestinal lining covering more than 4,000 square feet of surface area. When working properly, it forms a tight barrier that controls what gets absorbed into the bloodstream. An unhealthy gut lining may have large cracks or holes, allowing partially digested food, toxins, and bugs to pe*****te the tissues beneath it. This may trigger inflammation and changes in the gut flora (normal bacteria) that could lead to problems within the digestive tract and beyond.
We all have some degree of leaky gut, as this barrier is not completely impenetrable (and isn’t supposed to be!). Some of us may have a genetic predisposition and may be more sensitive to changes in the digestive system, but our DNA is not the only one to blame. Modern life may actually be the main driver of gut inflammation. There is emerging evidence that the standard American diet, which is low in fiber and high in sugar and saturated fats, may initiate this process. Heavy alcohol use and stress also seem to disrupt this balance.
Some studies show that leaky gut may be associated with other autoimmune diseases (lupus, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis), chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, allergies, asthma, acne, obesity, and even mental illness.

Anyone that knows me, knows that gut health is my jam.
First off, let’s chat what are the top things in your life that your gut really doesn’t love. Note: Not ALL of these will apply to you, but these generally can be followed if you’re experiencing digestive issues.
1️⃣ Processed food and processed sugar can eliminate the beneficial bacteria in the human gut. The resulting imbalance can cause increased cravings for sugar, which further damage the gut. An unhealthy amount of unrefined sugar, especially high-fructose corn syrup, leads to inflammation in the body. High levels of sugar also impact the ability of the gut microbiome to regulate blood sugar. On top of that, sugar feeds the pathogenic type of bacteria we don’t want in our gut, causing further dysbiosis.
2️⃣ Recent studies have shown links between both glyphosate and Bt-toxin and five conditions usually associated with gluten-related symptoms including, leaky gut, an imbalance of gut bacteria, different immune reactions and allergies, impaired digestion and destruction to the intestinal wall.
3️⃣ Some medications can damage the delicate balance of the different bacteria strains in your microbiome.
4️⃣ Omega 6 fats in vegetable oils not only fuel your body's inflammatory pathways, but also reduce availability of anti-inflammatory omega 3 fats in your tissues, resulting in more inflammation.
5️⃣ Chronic stress raises cortisol levels which revs up your immune system and is highly inflammatory. Short-term stress can cause you to lose your appetite and your digestion to slow down. Long-term stress can trigger gastrointestinal (GI) issues, like constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, or an upset stomach. Stress can also worsen digestive conditions like stomach ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome.
6️⃣ Chemicals in cleaning products have been shown in studies to damage your gut and your liver. Studies link cleaning products to reduced diversity of gut microbes.
7️⃣ Chlorine in tap water can kill of your gut bacteria, creating an imbalance of bacteria.
8️⃣ Raw food can be hard to digest if you’re experiencing any sort of gut dysbiosis. Cooking food, especially vegetables, can help your gut break down these foods easier.
9️⃣ Conventional dairy tends to be inflammatory, especially when there is already inflammation present in the body. It’s a good idea to focus on healing your gut to digest dairy properly and choosing raw dairy when you can.
🔟 Wheat is compromised of two proteins: glutenin and gliadin. Gliadin makes up about 70% of the protein in gluten, and it's gliadin that causes the immune response. The prevalence of celiac and gluten sensitivity has increased significantly over the last 50 years. The use of hybridized wheat and glyphosate has contributed to increased gluten sensitivity. In sensitive people, gluten can cause the gut cells to release zonulin, a protein that can break apart the tight junctions holding your intestines together.
Ready to tackle your gut issues but don’t know where to start? My brand new Go With Your Gut program helps walk you through how to eat to benefit your gut and teaches you the “why’s” behind all of it!
Launching on Black Friday! Sign up for gut health tips and release info here! https://bit.ly/31ucXvu
It’s the truth though, right? 🤣 Where are my crunchy mamas at?
📣LAUNCHING…..
My most requested program ever! I’m so excited to announce I’m launching my signature program, Go With Your Gut!
This has been a labor of love and a culmination of years of research and working 1:1 with clients, especially those with poor gut health.
Did you know… 70 million people suffer from digestive issues?
In addition to that outrageous number…15 million people suffer from food allergies of some form, and most aren’t even aware of them.
If you suffer from any of the following…you could benefit from improving your gut health…
✔️ Allergies and inflammation that throws the digestive system off-kilter
✔️ Persistent depression, exhaustion, hormonal imbalance, and adrenal fatigue
✔️ A weakened immune system that’s unable to recuperate
✔️ Bacteria and infections throughout your body
✔️ Loose stools, constipation or stomach upset
✔️ Excess weight gain that is impossible to lose
✔️ Dreaded cellulite that loves to stick around (cellulite is actually toxins stored in fat cells)
But don’t fret—after I had my health taken from me (and finally managed to take it back), I made it my goal to become a part of the solution so that I could help others reclaim their health and their lives!
And this is exactly why I designed the program that is going to help SO many people…
Introducing the 8-Week Restore Your Gut program—an online program that will take you from gut-health poor to gut-health rich in a matter of 8 weeks.
If you’re ready to:
✔️ Learn which foods serve your unique body
✔️ Rebuild your gut health from the inside out
✔️ Improve metabolic function
✔️ Detoxify your cells and reclaim the healthy body that’s rightfully yours
✔️ Access your natural supply of energy
✔️ And so much more
Then you must take the chance on this program because it is the most epic program I’ve ever created…and that is saying something because I pour my heart and soul into every program I put out there.
Launching Black Friday!

👋🏻 Hey guys, it’s been a while! I’ve been busy over at my main Instagram account — building connections, hitting the facts + studies, and talking a whole lot of gut and immune health. But for some reason, IG decided the content I published on that account wasn’t to their liking, so they removed my account, without warning on any post or any story.
Having 10 years of posts numbering over 2000 and an organic community of engaged people in my life — family + real life friends, friends I’ve made through the internet who I’ve been connected with before IG or FB was even a thing, clients who I keep in quick contact with to check on them , strangers who I’ve given suggestions to, people needing desperate help with their health and really don’t know where to head first, like helping them through their CV 🦠, others empowered in their health, sharing truth and help. I’m in contact with MDs, NDs, DC, RDs, and others with a range of other health certifications, part of an integral group creating real changes in people’s health.
All gone because my voice doesn’t matter to them.
I would so appreciate you liking + sharing this post to hopefully reconnect with the majority of those who I’ve connected with in the past, and those who have yet to find me.
I can’t wait to share with you the huge project I’m working on and launching in November! It’s a been a long time in the making, first imagined sitting late at night finishing my Holistic Nutrition certification 7 years ago.
Comment below what topic you think it will be!
And don’t forget to share!
👉🏻From the beginning of the March 2020 lockdowns for the current virus, the subject of natural immunity (also called post-infection immunity) has been neglected. Once the VXs became widely available, what began with near silence at the beginning turned nearly into a complete blackout of the topic.
🧐Still, the science exists. Many studies exist. Their authors deserve credit, recognition, and to have their voices heard.
🦠These studies demonstrate what was and is already known: natural immunity for a SARS-type virus is robust, long-lasting, and broadly effective even in the case of mutations, generally more so than VXs. In fact, a major contribution of 20th-century science has been to expand upon and further elucidate this principle that has been known since the ancient world.
❗️Visit the link in the comments to read on.
👏🏻 Let’s hear it for natural immunity! 👏🏻
Big news! 🎉 I’m so excited to share with you guys that I’ve accepted a position as a Lifestyle Educator at the Institute of Health and Wellness!
As a Lifestyle Educator, I’ll be walking patients through a 12 week therapeutic lifestyle program that focuses on specific nutrition, exercise, stress management and a prescription medical food.
I’m incredibly honored to be working alongside a top notch Functional Medicine GI doctor skilled in surgery, reversing chronic conditions, helping extremely challenging internal and gastrointestinal disorders, with hundreds of hours of training and experience in blood chemistry analysis and lab work.
I’m so grateful to my family and close friends who have supported me and encouraged me through the years despite having young kids and an autoimmune disease. Seven years ago I felt a tug at my heart to do something, to help other people not experience the pain I was going through, to make an impact on people’s wellness and be an advocate of health for others. I’m honored and thrilled to be continuing that mission at a practice dedicated to helping people through the power of functional medicine.
I’m excited to be able to bring this experience to my own clients through programs and plans! To all of my clients and those I’ve given guidance to, THANK YOU for trusting my opinion and experience! ❤
In addition to this new certification, I’ll be completing a course by the end of the year as an Advanced Gut Restoration Nutritional Advisor.
Cheers to new adventures!
But first, gut health
To address hormones, you need to address the gut.
To address immune function you need to address the gut.
To address metabolic function you need to address the gut.
To address emotional health, you need to address the gut.
To address detoxification you need to address the gut.
Do you see why gut health is important?
This right here is the exact reason why I decided very early on after becoming certified in holistic nutrition that I would focus on the gut. Because it is very hard to address the above processes without addressing how your gut is functioning.
Do you p**p every day, ideally more than once? Do you have gut issues like diarrhea, constipation, gut pain or more obscure symptoms like bloating, burping, or always feeling full? Food intolerances? Gut pain? Pooping several times or more a day? Brain fog? Anxiety?
So gut health - yes - this is my focus. But since there outside factors that also impact gut health like environmental toxins, pharmaceutical medications, chronic cortisol from elevated stress levels, and lack of sleep, I also focus on these areas as well. Oftentimes, these are critical factors in helping improve your gut function.
Gut health is so important because the microbiome has many functions. It:
* Aids the synthesis and regulation of hormones and neurotransmitters
* Facilitates absorption of macro and micronutrients
* Has an essential role in the immune system
* Contributes to regulation of estrogen levels in the body
Gut health first.
