Thank you Glastonbury Abbey Medieval Fayre and all who came to visit!
It was by all accounts the busiest and most fantastic one yet!!
Thank you everyone who came by the stall and said hi and wanted textiles kits. Go forth and ! It's always a pleasure to help in a small way on people's textiles journeys- and help keep alive and well.
Thank you to the amazing ground team who as always helped us at every turn to navigate the weekend with great comradery.
And a massive thank you to the . I never feel like I have enough time with you all- I'm so grateful for everything you've helped me with over the past few years - from putting up a tent to helping me not feel so desperately alone at times. You are absolute legends and I hope you all have a great season.
I'm taking a break from events this year while I settle into Dorset life with my beloved and a job I just ❤️- and hope to refocus on the thing that made me a trader in the first place: a noice bit of weaving.
Thank you for supporting and every time you purchase something hand crafted you take home all the hours of love and attention gone into that object.
Blessed be 🙏 xx Jen
Met my hero today 😍😎
The inspiring, talented and benevolent Shelagh Lewins was walking around the Artisans and Reenactors Market (day 2) and we talked everything tablet weave and re-enactment.
I thanked her for her websites and the gift of tablet weaving resources to people starting out.
What a legend.
Such an honour and I hope this won't be the last time.
The continues at the Warwickshire Events Centre on Sunday 17th 10am until 4pm.
Come and stock up on all your re-enactment, LARP and cosplay kit for the season ahead.
Such fun! 😁
Excellent heritage craft courses where I work!
Beautiful kitty photo for effect! This is Red where I discovered her "looking after" some wool fabrics... no one wants Red fluff on their kit Red!!!
Now you're all looking 😄 it's March and that means count down to the Artisans and Reenactors Market from midday 15th March and all day 16th and 17th.
It's an honour to be part of a market with such great makers of fine reenactment replicas, LARP and Cosplay outfits and everything inbetween including food and drink! PLUS lots of kit pieces for you to be making your own outfits.
Remember to visit our maker friends at TORM as well - only a 10 minute drive away.
I'll be there with tablet weaving kits, natural dye kits, hoods, tunics, dresses and lots of hats!
PLUS I'm making some natural dye examples for those of you who'd like something on a living history display but don't have time to do it.
Thank you re-enactment community for your continued friendship and support - it means so much to a one-person maker such as myself that I have Viking friends all over the UK and beyond! What an honour ❤
See you there!

Plus kits! Create your own colours with my natural dyeing kit and my ready-to-weave tablet weaving kits are suitable for beginners upwards. They make a great present for your craft-hoarding friends!
We can't wait to see the as well. Hope to see you there.

My deepest and most heart-felt sympathies to Barbara and family on the passing of Rick the Elder. My thoughts with Ormsgard Dark Ages Re-enactment as they are one of the most caring and friendly groups I have met and I know how deeply each of them will be affected.
With all my love

A very Happy New Year to you all.
I hope that you've had a restorative festive season whatever you got up to and whoever you spent it with.
I'm so very grateful to all customers since I started making for others in 2017. You've trusted me with your outfits, leg wraps. tablet weaving, and the occasional group flag! It's been a real journey. Thank you for trusting me with your goods and giving me the chance to put things right if needed.
I never take your purchases for granted as there are plenty of other places you could be spending your hard-earned money.
In 2024 I am at 4 events to sell my textiles and I've put them as events onto my page.
I'm hoping to expand my range into "instant" Living History items, such as a rainbow of Viking naturally dyed colours, and kits to help you complete heritage textiles items... watch this space!
I will be taking only a few orders a year so I can concentrate on my other job at the fantastic Ancient Technology Centre. If I work in a Longhouse am I a real Viking?!
Plus re-enacting with the Vikings UK family - I can't wait.
See you in a field/ hall/ castle somewhere in 2024.
Love and light.

Living my best unscripted life... 🤣
Always great to see Craig and family and even better to discuss Viking "picnic" food for reenactment.
Thank you all customers.
Especially those that have supported me for many years.
I'm beyond grateful and wouldn't be here without you.

Drakos in print!
It's been a great honour to be interviewed for two publications recently - both for different audiences - both history themed.
The brilliant Lauren Grierson from Little Historians Magazine asked me about portraying a weaver at Saxon and Viking reenactments. I've worked with kids for nearly 25 years now and I still love teaching in all its forms. I spoke with Lauren in character about the daily chores of Saxon and Viking life as well as some quirky facts about wash-days!
My fantastic boss at the ATC Andy Stevens is writing for Living Medieval l and interviewed me as a tutor, reenactor and trader. All inextricably linked and every day is a Viking day!
Not forgetting my gate-crashing into Craig Brook's Saxon Forager podcasts with Duane and lots of yummy food!
My re-enactment journey has 100% brought me into the jobs I do now and introduced me to numerous people in the and .
Most of all my wonderful Duane ❤.
Hopefully I'll see lots of you at the Artisans and Reenactors Market next week!
Return of the kits... 3! Fire strike kit.
These kits are a fantastic present for your bush-crafting, wilderness camping and of course... Viking friends!
The fire strike kit contains
- a fire steel
- a piece of flint
- charcloth to catch your spark
- straw to generate flames
I only have a limited number of these and they are available in the first instance at the Artisans and Reenactor's Market, 17th-19th November at the Warwickshire Events Centre.
Then they will be put on my Etsy shop in good time for Yule gifting!
If you are able please support all up-coming markets.
More products coming soon - I have been working on hats, tunics, trousers, linen and wool bags, tablet weaving kits, natural dye kits and more!
Return of the kits #2 Tablet weaving kits!
These were so popular at the last Artisans and Reenactors Market that I sold out in a day!
This time I have made MORE kits in MORE colours -
AND
Wooden tablets and weaving shuttle AND strung up ready to weave with FULL instructions on how to start again and where to look online.
Interpretations of TWO 9th century Viking Age designs in wool and period appropriate colours. Each kit will produce enough weaving for a thin belt or embellishing the collar of a tunic.
They make great gifts!
See you at the Market on 17th, 18th and 19th November at the Warwickshire Events Centre.
Return of the kits!
In a workshop far... far... away....
WOOL CRAFT!
(*cue music and text scrolling)
It has been nearly a year since wool, plant and mordant were gathered in sufficient number for natural dyeing.
Since people began to want they have wanted something brighter, bigger and better than them next door.
Through a perseverance of harvesting, weighing and winding the team (Duane ❤) bring you a kit with full instructions and advice for this and future natural dyeing!
There is 75g of Aran-weight wool in 3 skeins and 3 dye types to try out.
This is over a hundred metres of wool for a belt or bag handle or whatever project you desire. The plant fibres are madder, walnut bark and birch bark, producing red, brown and orange tones. All Dark-Age re-enactment appropriate colours!
Available to buy in the first instance at The and Reenactors Market in November 2023. Come find my stall and say hi!
Remember to visit and support our in all markets as the other one is a very short drive.
Any not sold will go onto Etsy straight after the market - makes a great Yule gift!
Have a great day everyone. 😄
