One for our record books today as we welcomed Bruce at 93 years young. What an absolute legend resplendent in vibrant boardshorts which matched his dazzling smile. With the great grandkids cheering him on, Bruce slayed it. Welcome Bruce as the newest member of the DSA family. 🏄♂️

Thankyou to the 40 surfers and carers and 148 volunteers including our photographers who made our first event of the season a success. To the surfers who had to cancel, hope to see you next event. To our returning volunteers, welcome back. To our new volunteers, welcome to the DSA family. Many thanks to Umina SLSC legends John, Mel, Matt and Sinead for running the BBQ with supplies from Ettalong Diggers, Umina Bakers Delight and Masterfoods. SafenSound Storage for garaging our trailer and Terrigal Mens Shed for our trophies. A few snaps now with more to come over the next few days as they come in.
Today we had a crew from Umina Community Group volunteer to assist our surfers with parking. Welcome to the DSA family Tony, Carol, Sean, Peter and Ron🏄♂️
Qudos to Bakers Delight Umina Beach for supplying the bread for our event BBQ
Much needed funds to help over 80 surfers into the surf . Thank you
Our sign in desks will be setup under the surf club balcony. There will be a shade tent on the grass near the BBQ tent. Volunteers are asked to leave the closer car park (red) for our surfers and park in the Recreation Precinct, the Club Umina carpark at the back of the oval (orange) or sidestreets. There will be several extra Disabled Parking places with orange cones. We will also have a drop off area near the surf club driveway. Look for volunteer in Orange Vest.
We are getting excited about tomorrows first event of the season at Umina Beach. Pray to Huey for great conditions. We surf rain or shine - we are going to get wet anyway! Loan wetsuits available.
Edit: We won the Excellence in Disability Services award (didn’t know we were in that category!)
Finalists but no gong.
Congratulations Chloe - a member of the DSA family🏄♀️

Our amazing Orange girls
Know the Rashie/T: ORANGE
Harper and Halliday wanted to volunteer but weren't big enough for a water role. So we created the Orange girl role and mum made up some T's. This super important role sees the girls bring cut oranges down onto the beach for our volunteers and surfers. Nothing gets rid of that salt water taste better than a juicy orange! Thank you girls for your dedication. Everyone is looking forward to your smiley faces and beautiful manners again this season.

Know the Rashie: YELLOW
Our fabulous surfers are in yellow so we can see them clearly in and out of the water.

All surfers must be accompanied by a Carer at events. We need to be able to identify primary carers. They are welcome to join their surfer in the water.
