Not Only Voices uses audiovisual media to promote human rights and fight discrimination. We raise the Its main tool is notonlyvoices.org, an online platform.
We raise the voice of individuals working for a more equal world, foster meaningful connections and facilitate dialogue. We do so by developing projects that bring people together to generate (audiovisual) material and create dialogue online and offline. We make the work of human rights defenders more visible, raise their voices, and connect them with each other and with different international or
ganizations or individuals who may support their work. We are human rights and filmmaking specialists passionate about and committed to social justice. Not Only Voices relies on a transmedia approach as we believe creativity in communication have a crucial impact on society and the work human rights defenders do. We use our medias and partners to organize talks and we take part in international advocacy events. In parallel, we develop and execute human rights and audiovisual projects in which we research, document and edit our own material. The organization was born from our pilot project on the situation of LGBTI persons in Southeast Asia. In 2015, we interviewed 60 activists on camera in five different countries and the outcome has been showcased in our online platform. These interviews have been used by the local rights defenders to promote their work, apart from strengthening the network in the region. Our videos have received more than 60 thousand views and have been formally used in 8 different countries. Not Only Voices is now an intersectional project-based organization and remains committed to strengthen the human rights movement while making individuals aware of their own privileges. We work on the basis that by becoming better informed, every individual can actively generate a positive impact.
