When you're pregnant you want to have everything ready for your new baby, but the problem is you don't really know what your baby will be like or what kind of parent you'll be 🤷‍♀️. So here's some things to avoid buying until later on:

1. A baby carrier. Some babies love being in a sling, others hate it. So try one from a sling library or second hand first before you buy a fancy baby carrier with all the bells and whistles.

2. Comforters/soft toys. 🧸 We guarantee you'll be gifted at least one of these and your baby may not even like them!

3. Baby toys. The kind of toys your baby plays with in the first year is pretty limited and they develop so fast that one day they'll love stacking things and the next they'll be over it. You'll find they enjoy playing with household objects just as much as any 'toy' you've bought.

4. Jumpers, booties, socks, dresses. These types of clothes, although very cute, might just be too much of a faff if you're sleep deprived or just have a baby who hates getting dressed. Stick with basic vests and sleepsuits to start with and you can always rent anything extra you want to try out!

5. Bouncer or playmat. You might find you can't live without one of these or you might find your baby hates being put down and this sits gathering dust in the corner. Again, try a cheap second hand one first until you figure out what kind of one you need (if at all).

You can still have the fun part of shopping for some of these, but try marketplace, ebay or
for preloved baby items first.
