Rep. Daisy Morales, Florida Lawmakers Pass $112 Billion Budget, the State's Biggest Ever

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (FNC) - State Representative Daisy Morales of Orlando looked on in the House Chamber as she and Florida lawmakers voted to pass a record $112 billion budget--the State's biggest budget ever--on Monday, the last day of the 2022 Legislative Session.

Budget Highlights:

- $3.47 billion in federal stimulus
- $1 billion to raise state worker pay
- Monthlong gas tax holiday in October
- $115 million for repairs to the state capitol complex
- $800 million to increase teacher salaries

Republican Rep. Anthony Sabatini of Howey and the Hills, Democratic Rep. Michael Grieco of Miami Beach, and Democratic Rep. Dotie Joseph of North Miami Beach voted against the budget in the House. Six senators did not vote on the budget.

Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, who has line-item veto authority, has the final say over how much spending is approved unless his vetoes are overturned by a two-thirds majority vote.
