Racine County Alliance of Snowmobile Clubs

My two passions of my earthly life are snowmobiles and motorcycles. I get asked often which I like more to which my reply is "it depends on the season". Tonight I went to one of the coolest motorcycle shows ever and it was right here in Waterford, Wisconsin. Some of you may know Rich Colano the former owner of RC Powersports in Burlington. Tonight he hosted a ride-in bike show at his home in Waterford and attendees got to enjoy seeing all kinds of bikes as well as a chance to see Rich's personal Motorcycle collection. There had to be well over 100 motorcycles there and a whole lotta people both young and old that took it all in. I want to personally thank Rich Colano for his hospitality and generosity for doing this. Here is a sampling of the bikes...

Here it is- The first Snowmobile Safety Class in Racine County has been announced. The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club will have their class at the Tichigan Fire Dept. in December. All the info is in the snipet below. And one more thing for you to ponder... Mark and Ken have been putting this class on for so long that they have certified kids of students they had when their parents were kids. Yes, multiple generations! I won't call Mark and Ken old but they have been around a LOOOONG time. They could use some apprentices to mentor that can one day take the reins and continue to offer this class. It ain't hard. Call Mark and ask him about it. We NEED volunteers to be able to teach the Snowmobile Safety Class into the future. Help get kids off their tablets and on a snowmobile.

It's gonna be a hot and sticky week. I hate it. When this picture was taken it was -24 degrees! We were up in Hayward to join the Relic Riders on a guided vintage snowmobile ride. We departed the parking lot at 10am and did not return until after dark. That was one of the most fun snowmobile rides I have ever been on. Fellow vintage enthusiasts Jeff Schwaller , Greg Roscizewski and about a dozen others joined us on old iron. A bunch of modern sled riders also tagged along. I've got winter on my mind. That's MY kinda weather. Pray for snow.

Mark your calendars! Wide Open WI Snow Show, Swap & Grass Drags is September 20th - 22nd, 2024 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. They call this a "snow show" but it is actually a Powersports show so there is something for everyone. Inflation has been our enemy so show organizer Benny Carlson is fighting back by keeping this event Family Friendly with $5 entry fee and FREE parking.

August 10th was the conclusion of The 2024 Snow Studs Pro Sled Bracket Series and The guys from Racine County did not disappoint! It was an All NSNP Racing Team Podium when the racing was over. Congratulations to Greg Roscizewski, Jeff Jaquish, and Aaron Roscizewski for taking home the money and prizes.

Check this out... this is the "grass" drag track at Great Lakes Dragaway. Some serious work has been done because some very serious sleds are going to be racing here on October 5th, 2024. The track has been dug up and now there is 500' of clay for the ultimate smooth surface because some of the fastest sleds in the world will be competing here on October 5th. Mark your calendars.

The new racing surface at Great Lakes Dragaway is coming together nicely. The guys have been putting in some serious work to have the track in prime condition for the inaguaral Chi-Town Showdown. That's 500 feet long, 105 feet wide of nothing but bad ass clay. October 4 and 5 the fastest sleds in the country will invade the Great Lakes Dragaway, be there!

This is coming to Great Lakes Dragaway.

The Midwest Snowmobile Drag Racing Series was at Great Lakes Dragaway tonight and the dragstrip was alive with the sounds and smell of 2-stroke. There was also plenty of cars and bikes to watch too. If you have not made it out yet to see the snowmobiles on asphalt there will be more action to come before the summer is over.

The Harley homecoming started today and the big event was bike nite at the Harley museum. The place was absolutely packed with bikes from all over the U.S.A. There will be activities, bike shows, organized rides, vendors, bands, food trucks and more at local dealers all throughout the weekend. This is almost as fun as snowmobiling!

Racine County Fair! The Fair kicked-off yesterday and the weather was beautiful. The grandstand was nearly full last night for the truck and tractor pull. In the picture below Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club member Nathan Hegeman and his Oliver tractor make an impressive 259 foot pull! The Fair runs through Sunday.

Possibly Made In Wisconsin? I am old enough to remember Allis- Chalmers tractors rolling off the assembly line at the plant in West Allis. I even know a few people that worked there. The last tractor made there was in 1985. Did you know Allis-Chalmers made a snowmobile? They never went into production but 3 proto-types were made in 1965. The sled in the picture below is the only survivor. I can't stress enough how HUGE this sled is. It's hard to tell from the picture but it is very large. Was this sled made in Wisconsin?... I don't know. Allis-Chalmers had plants all over the U.S. and a couple in Canada. The R & D Center was in Wauwatosa, WI so there is a chance is was made in our state. Do NOT confuse this sled with the Gilson Allis-Chalmers made by the Gilson Brothers Company in Plymouth, Wisconsin in the early '70s. This sled is on display at The Top of the Lake Snowmobile Museum in Naubinway, Michigan. If you have any knowledge about the Allis-Chalmers snowmobile please chime in.

The last post highlighted sleds that were "Made in Wisconsin". Well, here is the sled that started it all... and it was Made In Wisconsin. The 1924 Eliason Motor Toboggan, built in Sayner, Wisconsin. In 1927 Carl Eliason received a patent on his machine. At ISC 2024 Carl Eliason's Motor Toboggan was on display with the other Wisconsin Sleds for attendants to appreciate. This priceless artifact was the star of the show. You can see this sled in person by visiting Eliason Lumber and Hardware in Sayner, Wisconsin where it is on display.

Made In Wisconsin- Since ISC 2024 was hosted by our great State the organizers thought it would be fun to highlight some of the snowmobiles that were manufactured in Wisconsin. Check out the list and see how many you recognize. Are there any missing? The sleds on display were absolutely gorgeous. Maybe you own a sled that was "Made In Wisconsin"?

Fun Facts: According to The International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association there were 1,214,253 snowmobiles registered in the U.S. for 2024. In Canada there were 555,517 snowmobiles registered for 2024.

The 56th Annual International Snowmobile Congress held it's meeting in Green Bay, WI from June 12 - June 15 at the Oneida Hotel. The International Snowmobile Congress is where organized snowmobile groups from around the world meet to discuss membership, issues, legislation, trail networks, technology, government relations, clubs, and everything snowmobiling. It's been 13 years since Wisconsin hosted ISC so I decided to attend. It was a fast 4 days loaded with things to do and learn. In this pic, a number of snowmobile associations were presented a check from Woody's. Undoubtedly you have heard of Woody's traction products and you may even have purchased some of their accessories for your machine. The Michigan Manufacturer is all-in when it comes to supporting the organizations that make snowmobiling happen. In this picture, Woody's presented a check to each of the following organizations: The American Council of Snowmobile Associations (your Racine County Alliance is a member), The New York State Snowmobile Association, The Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations, ISC 2025 (the people putting together next year's meeting, The New Brunswick Snowmobile Association, and The Michigan Off Road Vehicle Association. This is true dedication to the hobby we are so passionate about. This is just one example of the industry investing in the future of snowmobiling.

Fun Facts: According to The International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association there were 112,650 new snowmobiles sold worldwide in 2024. Out of that total, 51,987 were sold in the United States. For comparison, in 2023 there were 124,769 new snowmobiles sold worldwide.

I hope everyone had a great Father's Day! I spent my day with some of my favorite riding buddies at Sunburst ski-hill for The Kettle Moraine Sport Riders 40th Anniversary Father's Day Hill Climb. It was a beautiful day to watch the action and enjoy some great company. Happy Father's Day from The Racine County Alliance.

Another day closer to Sick Summer 2024 at Great Lakes Dragaway, coming on June 13th! This event is going to feature some of the largest names, awesome vehicles, and lots and lots of action. Its going to be a party atmosphere here at the track and you do not want to miss it!

This will be a great event. Madison Classics will be having this summer show at Racine County Fairgrounds THIS SATURDAY, June 15th, 2024. Will this become an annual event?.. I don't know, but Racine County Fairgrounds is the perfect venue with a great location for this show.There are also swap spaces available for selling "Automobile related stuff". Food venders will also be there selling tasty viddles.

TODAY, June 9th, 2024 is The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club Sunday "Funday!" at The Dover Inn. Tickets go on sale at 10am this morning. First drawing is at 2pm. It's going to be a beautiful day! You DON'T have to be present to win so if you are just passing through stop and buy a ticket for 22 chances to win a great prize.

Today the asphalt sleds were in Byron, IL at Byron Dragway for the Snow Studs Pro Sled Bracket Series. The NSNP Racing Team was representing Racine County. In the pic is Greg Roscizewski on his Racing Arctic Cat. They were killin' it until the rain came and track officials were forced to call it after round one.

VFW car show tomorrow, Saturday, June 8th, in Wind Lake. Shine-up your classic and come out.

Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 is Bike Nite at LD's BBQ in East Troy. This is always a great time. Come and make some noise.

On Sunday, June 9th, 2024 The Wind Lake/North Cape Drifters Snowmobile Club will have their Annual Fund Raiser at The Dover Inn. The BIG tent will be set-up and there will be food, music, drinks and fun! Please join us and support the Club.

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend from the Racine County Alliance. Freedom is a lot like snowmobile trails: Hard to get but EXTREMELY easy to lose. Nothing is more precious than Freedom. Take a moment to honor all of those that gave their life for it. Spend your lifetime fighting those that want to take it away!
