It's that time again when I post about my children's book ""Are You Chanukah or Christmas?" This year it has a special meaning - because the moral of the story is that we don't fear or judge our differences, but we rejoice in the similarities of traditions, family and love no matter what religion you are or how you celebrate the holidays. "Are you Chanukah or Christmas?" is the perfect holiday book for children 2-7 years old who not only celebrate one holiday or two, but who have the desire to find meaning in both

Set in New York City, a curious little girl named Sofia takes us on her holiday adventure as she walks along the streets of Manhattan asking passersby which holiday they celebrate. From her nail lady to a businessman to a woman sipping tea, she wonders then asks, if they have a Menorah or a Christmas tree.

In lovely riddle rhymes, each answer she gets puts a smile on her face, teaches her about the different ways people celebrate and keeps her yearning to learn more. ”Do you spin a dreidle or open presents under a tree”? “Do you leave cookies for Santa or eat chocolate Gelt like me”? she wonders. From the Dog Walker to the Taxi Driver, their unique answers feed her imagination until unexpectedly she is approached by a little boy who has secretly been following her on her adventure. He turns the tables on her and asks “Are YOU Chanukah or Christmas?” To his surprise, she is overjoyed to be asked the question she’s been asking others and goes on to explain that she celebrates BOTH holidays! “It doesn't matter how you celebrate or what holiday you choose, as long as it’s with the ones you love, you just can't lose!" In the end she had the answer all along and realizes that holidays are about family.
