What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a gentle, introspective and stationary practice that cultivates inner calm. It helps us understand the value of acceptance at a deep cellular level. Yin Yoga promotes slowing down, where poses are held in a relaxed manner for a longer period of time, 3-4 minutes, affecting the fascia to increase mobility and stimulate the flow of Qi within the meridians and organs. The practice helps: release stress, calm the mind and experience the essence of being.

What happens during a Sound Bath?
Participants lay back on a yoga mat and relax as planetary tuned, crystal bowls and other instruments are played to create a vibrational, healing experience that resonates with every cell in the body, leaving you refreshed and rejuvenated. These instruments put you in a state of deep relaxation, work to clear the subconscious, clear out stuck energy, calm the mind, and activate your body's natural healing systems.

Kiah Crowley was born and raised in Spearfish. She leads Hatha yoga style classes as well as Yin Yoga and Sound Bath experiences at Spearfish Yoga. When she’s not in the studio you might have seen her at the Black Hills Farmers Market where she sells honey, beeswax candles, and all natural body products from her business, Sunrise Hives.

Achieving a Healthy Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Now that we know that our thoughts can positively or negatively influence our biological functioning, the question is how to make your mind, body, and spirit work together?

Sure, we can put in a conscious effort to eliminate negative or limiting beliefs from our minds. However, this is a struggle for many because these beliefs are often so deeply embedded in our subconscious that we are not even aware of them. They control our thoughts, behaviors, attitudes, and reactions.

The first step is, therefore, to become aware of your subconscious programming. Only then can you change it and change your life.

Moving into June, I will not be teaching on Wednesday evenings as my summer tennis league plays that night, also I will not be teaching Friday evenings this summer. I will dearly miss these classes and spending time with those that attend, but we will start back up in the fall. I look forward to it!

I have trained with Shilpa Ghatalia at Yogshakti, a studio in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to complete two-hundred hour yoga certification. Continued to study Yin yoga with Sebastian Pucelle and Murielle Burellier of With Yin Yoga in Ubud, Bali completing one-hundred hours of their training. I am a Certified Yoga Tune Up® teacher under Jill Miller in California. I have entered a three hundred hour teacher training to be completed in 2020. I am registered with the Yoga Alliance.
