Your therapist will work with you to develop your personalized series of exercises for you to do daily. The exercises can be done at home

Is knee pain or swelling stopping you from your favorite activities like running, competitive ballroom dancing or rock climbing?

This doctor's knee would swell up to the size of a grapefruit when she did any of the above until she started doing posture therapy. After a week of doing her personalized exercises she was samba dancing again. After 3 weeks she was back to rock climbing. During her 6th week she made it to the finals in a dance competition with no knee swelling and could ride her bike for 1.5 hours with no pain. The after pictures are 4 weeks into therapy.

The exercises didn’t focus on her knee, but rather focused on getting her whole body in better alignment.

Family Straighten Strengthen 1 Workout 14/04/2020

Feeling cooped up? Here is a Family Friendly Straighten Strengthen Workout that can be done in just 11 minutes! Please share with a parent who you think might enjoy doing these with their kids!

IMPORTANT: Listen to your body - none of these exercises should be painful. If they are, put them on hold and let me know. Please supervise your children as they go through these exercises.

Also, if something hurts - like your back - and you would like to get rid of the pain from the comfort of your own home, let me know. I've worked digitally with clients from all over the US and abroad. I work with clients both young and old. For kids the method I practice works well for those with scoliosis, arthritis, etc. or for those kiddos who currently don't find joy in physical play and avoid it if they can.

For the workout setup - you can do these exercises with little space and no equipment - however, for fun I made a square/line out of painters tape for jumping and used cones to go around. You could just imagine them or use something you have handy around the house like a belt to jump over and stuffed animals to go around. This workout can be fun to do outside as well using shoes to go around and chalk to make the square/line.

*Before/After Pictures** How many years younger does this client look on the right compared to the left? This was after she had done her posture therapy exercises for less than 60 days! Her goal with Posture Therapy was to get rid of her hunchback and rehab her knees after a double knee replacement. She needed those knees to navigate the stairs of her two story home and take her dog for long walks. Is knee pain affecting the activities that bring you joy? I'd love to help you get rid of it! Straighten Strengthen: Beginners 1 Workout 07/04/2020

This week's Straighten Strengthen Workout is for Beginners!

A video for seniors was requested, but I think beginner is a better term - as Posture Therapist we don't believe your pain/fitness is age related. I've worked with pain free 85-year-olds who workout on a regular basis and kids right out of college in a ton of pain. I was in a ton of pain in college! Think about it, if you have right knee pain for example, isn't your left knee the same age? We believe pain has to do with the body's misalignment. Realigning the body above and below that right knee gives it the opportunity to heal itself. Pretty neat - no drugs, surgery or braces. If you're in pain and would like exercises personalized to your alignment, let me know. I've worked digitally with clients across the US and abroad. The cool truth about Posture Therapy is it doesn’t matter where the SITE of the pain is as we treat the SOURCE of the pain (ie the misalignment in the body).

Think of it like a car. If your front right tire kept wearing down, you wouldn’t just keep replacing it, you’d go get your tires aligned.

All we did was get those purple dots closer to the red line (see before and after picture) and the pain went away. We did zero exercises that focused on the site of the pain and instead attacked her whole body’s misalignment. After that she was able to run, hike and do yoga. The second picture was just after a few visits.

Hello friends!

I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Courtney and I am an Egoscue Institute trained Posture Therapist. Since 2011 I’ve been helping clients get out of pain and back to the activities they love - hiking the 3 Passes in Nepal, being able to get down on the ground and play with their grandkids, teach on their feet all day, rock climb, play tennis, carry their kiddo...you get the idea. The client is really the one who gets themselves out of pain though, I am just the guide.

South Seattle seniors starting in February I am teaching a Balance Class at the Burien Community Center Mondays and Fridays from 10:30am to 11:25am and a Posture and Mobility Class Tuesdays and Thursday from 9:30am to 10:25am. Bring a friend, come join the fun and check out a class! The classes are comprised of gentle corrective exercises designed to improve balance, mobility and posture!

Your therapist will work with you to develop your personalized series of exercises for you to do daily. The exercises can be done at home with little-to-no equipment and are created to fit your needs (time, space, abilities, etc.).

Our goal is to help you meet your goals and for you to begin to become your own therapist so you not only get out of pain, but become confident in your body’s amazing ability to heal itself.
Ask anyone who’s done this type of therapy, the best way to know what it is, is to experience it for yourself. It is pretty magical stuff that you don’t really understand fully until you feel it happening to you.
