Final week to shop our remaining inventory!

Our dog had a SECOND surgery last month (& had complications) so wrapping business up has been at the bottom of my to-do list. 60% off now through small business Saturday (11/25). Looking forward to 2024 and hoping it brings a little less chaos to our lives (unlikely).

In 2016, my husband and I questioned why wouldn’t we move to Indonesia. The only answer we could come up with was that we were comfortable here. I’m so thankful we put our comfort aside and trusted God to take us halfway around the world. Living overseas opened my eyes to a group of hurting people and I returned a different person.

For the last few years, I felt called to be involved in the fight against human trafficking, but now I feel called to use my time in a ministry closer to home - foster care.

Logistically, this means all inventory must go (asap), because what was my office is now being transformed into a kids bedroom. Sale starts now - use code FINAL25.

We started working on this bamboo kimono last fall but never moved forward with it. However, we have ONE available in medium/large! (Pictured here in XS/S.) It’s extremely soft and has slightly longer sleeves - perfect as we transition into cooler mornings & nights.

I definitely didn’t plan on taking a 3 week break from posting during the busiest sales season of the year, but it has been a busy few weeks (months, really).

Being able to create my own schedule is definitely a blessing, but it can be challenging to balance all of the “things”. I’m thankful for the ability to be present with family, friends and friends that are like family. Looking forward to resting a bit before diving into some exciting things for next year!

Shop early this year to avoid the stress of shipping delays! Last year we had a few people not receive their orders by Christmas even though they were shipped before the USPS deadline. I’ve been experimenting with sourdough lately & learned last week that linen cloths are a great way to store sourdough bread! The linen lets the bread breathe & helps keeps that crusty texture. I need to try this with my next loaf!

Our quilted throws are the most time-consuming product our artisans make. These throws provide 24 hours of work to vulnerable women in Indonesia. The hand stitched rows represent hours that women are able to work from home while being paid a fair wage. This work brings change to both the artisan’s family and community 💕

Rain continues to delay the tie dye fabric for our next kimono shipment. When I'm feeling impatient about the delays, I try to remember that we aren't working in the fast fashion world. Quite the opposite, actually, and these unavoidable delays mean that the people making the fabric, products, etc, are not working 24/7 just so that we can purchase more & more things. Which is a good thing.

Although the delays do test my patience 🙃

Let me break down the cost & steps for this bamboo kimono.

The fabric alone costs nearly $10. Then it needs to be cut, sewn, QC’d, photographed, packaged, shipped, QC’d again, marketed, shipped to the customer. (Not to mention there are currency transfer fees to send the payment to Indonesia & credit card fees once a customer makes a purchase.)

Consider this when you’re tempted to view an ethical brand’s product as overpriced. I know that fair trade products can be expensive and unaffordable, but that doesn’t make them overpriced.

Also, this super soft bamboo kimono is a sample. We were planning to make it in two sizes for a slightly different fit than our standard kimonos. However, the bamboo fabric is a bit more expensive and heavier, so the price would be a little higher. Let me know if you’d like to see these stocked despite the higher price.
