Before First Right Theft there was Groundplan. A couple of us are still here from that first night in the practice room when our original rhythm guitar player David played this song for us. We knew instantly we had to do something with it, but it took over 3 years to do it justice in the studio. The music, composition, and band name may have changed, but the lyrics never did. Without David we don’t have one of our best songs, as a matter of fact we don’t have First Right Theft. Even after he left he remained the same guy to all of us, especially the newer members trying to do this song justice. Seeing his reaction the first time he got to stand in an audience and hear this song is one of my best memories of the last 13 years. While David will always be a brother in the First Right Theft family it’s important to remember he was an actual brother, and a cousin to a couple of us. Luckily we have the song to always remember him by. Today we say goodbye to one of the founding members of this group, but he will always be on stage with us.
