Summer Weddings - At Flora by Norah Planning a wedding in Summer is easy when it comes to choosing flowers. Ge**eras
Ge**eras are another popular alternative.
The popular choice of wedding flowers are all available and makes for excellent summer wedding bouquets. Roses
Roses are out in abundance in our gardens during summer, and are a popular choice for many brides. Nowadays we don’t have any problems in getting roses year round as many are imported into Ireland from South America and Holland. Stock
Stock has pretty white and pink varieties, and a str
ong sweet scent and works well mixed with your favourite rose. Delphiniums
Delphiniums are tall, blue and are available at this time of year and work well in ceremony arrangements, as do gladioli. Lilies and calla lilies
Lilies and calla lilies are a favourite for summer weddings. Calla Lilies can make the most perfect white wedding flowers but can also be mixed with other flowers. Lilies such as 'stargazer' can be used in venue arrangements. Their large blooms and scent make them popular choice, they also come in a wide variety of colour. Lily of the Valley
Delicate and sweet perfumed flowers, perfect for the Summer bride, be warned they tend to be expensive. These perfectly round flowers are great for bridal bouquets; work wonderfully in fresh flowers. Pew Ends as well as for adding fun and interest to reception arrangements. Summer time is by far the most desired times for brides planning their wedding which makes it the busiest time for Florists, so it is important when booking your Church, Venue and Hotel, book your florist as well so as not to be disappointed. We will not turn away any bride, looking for flowers for her day and will strive to accommodate her requirements accordingly even if she is let down or leaves ordering to the last minute. Though preferably we do prefer to get notice, the more notice we get the better chance you have of getting exactly what flowers you desire for your special day.want to have a wedding early in the season, and offer the respite of floral abundance and warmth when guests come in from the cold. If it's the emerging sunshine, choose bright colours and May weather. Be inspired by the seasonal countryside for your Spring Wedding Flowers and find a sensational choice of colours, scents and styles. By choosing flowers that are in season you can create a truly timeless and connected feel for your celebration with flowers that evoke the romance of the season. Tulips are the obvious favorite for spring! They come in a myriad of colors: near black purple, blues, reds, pinks, yellows, orange and even white. Tulips are an ideal choice for simple wedding bouquet styles, particularly as tulips are said to mean perfect love; red tulips mean true love, purple tulips mean royalty and yellow tulips mean cheerful thoughts. Orchids are ideal cut flowers as they last for up to a week and hold their shape. Available naturally in whites, greens and purples you can also find white ones dyed in all colors such as vibrant blue. The Ge**era Daisy, or Ge**era, is available in a wide variety of colours so they are useful to create a colour harmony in combination with other flowers, especially tulips. It is also a perennial or annual plant, depending on the species and cultivar. The Ge**er Daisy has large, dramatic flowers in colors of red, yellow, orange and pink; it has a long stalk, so can be used for wedding floral arrangements as well as in bridal bouquets. It is an excellent flower choice for brides who wish to make a statement as it adds dramatic colour to any wedding bouquet; daisy themed weddings are now becoming a popular choice for Spring brides
Lily of the Valley has a short season around April and May. The beautiful small white flowers have a distinctive fragrance that many people love. It works well for gentlemen’s buttonholes (boutonnieres) as well as for bridal bouquets. It is one of the more expensive flowers considering its size. And if you want to get it out of season you will need very deep pockets indeed. Hyacinths have their main season in spring. I like using them as much for their lovely fragrance as their delicate shape and colour. Some people think of hyacinths as being a bit stuffy and old-fashioned but in the hands of a good florist they can match many more ‘modern’ flowers for beauty. They can work particularly well as a secondary flower in an arrangement, for example with roses
And speaking of Roses, most bridal bouquets and arrangements include roses. Roses are ancient symbols of love and beauty. ‘Rose’ means pink or red in a variety of languages (such as Romance languages, Greek, and Polish). The ancient Greeks and Romans identified the rose with their goddesses of love referred to as Aphrodite and Venus. If you’re thinking of roses for your wedding, consider planning your bridal flowers and wedding bouquets around one of the symbolic themes attached to the colour of roses
We at Flora by Norah can advise you on all your floral options and guarantee a professional service at a cost that will suit your pocket.
