Risks of ChatGPT for Law 🚨😬 If you are relying on ChatGPT for your Law essays please be aware of the following serious issues:
- it often gets important details wrong (this included judge's names, courts, & key case facts when we tested it).
- it often includes 0 analysis and the answer is very generic.
- it often makes up it's own details and case names (which do not exist!).
- it may flag up for plagiarism or be obvious as it often repeats the same phrases and sentences.
These are all serious issues which are likely to result in any marker being confused (especially if random fictional cases are mentioned) and a low grade being achieved. So, the moral of the story is: please just BE CAREFUL! 🫶🏼
We are excited to see the full extent of what AI can do to help us all in the future, but for now it is clear that ChatGPT still has a LONG way to go for Law 😬🎓

We have already had many students come to us because they have failed or received low marks using ChatGPT and AI. Sadly, whilst AI tech like ChatGPT is impressive for general tasks, it still has a long way to go for Law 😥🎓 It often not only gets things wrong, but makes its own facts up...
This is particularly dangerous, because it will result in the marker being confused and unimpressed by your work 😬
IF you are still determined to use ChatGPT for Law, please make sure you fact-check it (though this just wastes more time) or just use it for more general analytical thoughts 🎓

To achieve 1st's in your Law essays, you MUST critically analyse!🎓🤓
This means you do not just simply list and cite case after case after case, or point after point after point...
INSTEAD, make a point or cite the relevant law (depending if it is an essay or problem Q), then think about and look at WHY this point or rule is particularly positive, and particularly negative (citing other sources and including creative points in the process)🎓
After you have done this, move on to your next point... REMEMBER, it is better to have fewer points with more analysis, than many points and no analysis 🙌🤓
