Friday, November 15th is our next PTA General Membership meeting at 8:15AM, and we will hold our Yeti cooler drawing. Janel Rodriguez, who founded Forever 15 Project after losing her son to an accidental Fentanyl overdose, will be our guest speaker. Her impactful story, Fentanyl: The Noah Rodriguez Story, is important to hear so you can be informed. This was one of our best attended meetings last year, so please be sure to RSVP to have your badge pre-printed, or allow time for an ID scan if this is your first time on campus. You can also let your voice be heard by suggesting future PTA Meeting Topic Ideas that you'd like to learn more about. We are proud of our community and are reapplying this year, and the first step is collecting your feedback! This program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long-term results. The National PTA Baseline Survey consists of 20 questions to gauge perceptions of current family-school partnership trends. The results will be used to set a shared objective and identify recommendations for our school PTA to implement this 2024-25 school year.

After reviewing community feedback on the three "starter option" maps for new elementary and middle school attendance zones, DSISD and the Attendance Zoning Committee are releasing two final maps for community feedback. Downloadable maps and enrollment projections for each map can be found at dsisdtx.us/attendancezoning

The SSMS PTA is offering a new way to see our school in action! In an effort to increase family engagement, we will be doing parent-to-parent campus tours to give you a firsthand view of what our students and teachers do each and every day.

We will also be answering your questions to the best of our abilities. In an effort to keep the conversation personal, the time slots are limited to two people per tour. More dates will be added as we move through the school year.
