Something is seriously wrong. The church must correct itself and start talking and teaching about the sanctity of Human Life. And other issues. Otherwise, we can end up like the Methodist church and have congregants going apostate because they were never taught why homos*xuality is a sin.

A Lesson on Learning to Respond to Mockers
Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a US radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. On one of her programs, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homos*xuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22 and cannot be condoned under any circumstance.
The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a US resident which was posted on the Internet to mock what she said.
Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend
the homos*xual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the
other specific laws and how to follow them.
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual cleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and Female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homos*xuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He
also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private
family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
Your devoted fan,
Jim
So why should we respond to such a mocker? When should we and when shouldn’t we respond?
We should not respond when:
1. When the Spirit tells us not to answer.
Matthew 7: 6 "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.
Proverbs 9:7 "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you.
So, in general, we should not engage a mocker in the face-to-face debate.
2. We are not well equipped in our knowledge and understanding of God’s word.
2 Timothy 2: 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
3. We cannot speak the truth in Love.
James 1: 19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,20 for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
You may have all the right words, but your attitude and anger may come across to the listening bystanders as a negative witness.
We should respond when:
1. The Spirit prompts us to answer.
Matthew 10:16 I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,
20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
2. Our silence will hurt a weaker brother.
Romans 15:1 We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2 Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.
3 For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: "The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me." 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
3. Our silence would be a negative witness to a crowd of listeners.
Revelations 12: 11 They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
I know Jesus is real! The Bible can be trusted.
Could you respond if it was appropriate to respond?
Response (but not from Dr. Laura):
Dear Jim,
It is so obvious that you intend to make a mockery of the Old Testament laws of the Jewish people. You clearly have not studied these things extensively to gain understanding but rather to mock God and the Bible. But since other people are looking at this unholy attempt to defame God and the Bible I will respond. It is for their sakes (not yours) that I write this.
1. After the Temple in Jerusalem was built, it became the only place on earth acceptable to God for animal sacrifices. A few years after Jesus was crucified and risen God caused the destruction of the temple. Jesus even foretold of the Temple's destruction. Now the Dome of the Rock sits on top of the rubble of the Jewish Temple. God has done this to effectively stop animal sacrifices because Jesus died once for all the sins of the world. If you are making an animal sacrifice of any type, it is now unacceptable.
2. You refer to Exodus 21:7 which says,” If a man sells his daughter as a servant, she is not to go free as menservants do.” Yes, in that and other ancient societies, slavery was common. You have to wonder how poor and desperate a loving parent would have to be to sell their daughter for a chance at a better life as a slave. Of course, pagans could sell their children with no regrets since human life was valued to them as highly as it is today – only when it’s convenient, get rid of what is not wanted. On the issue of slavery in general the Bible is clear. 1 Corinthians 7:21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so. 22 For he who was a slave when he was called by the Lord is the Lord's freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ's slave. 23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men.
We are not living under God’s Theocracy of Moses’ time but under the democracy of the United States. Slavery has been abolished in the civilized world.
By the way, Jesus said all unbelievers are slaves when he said, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.” So Jim, you need to be freed from your sins. Jesus paid the penalty for the sins of the world so that anyone who believes and accepts Him will be saved including you.
3. If you are asking women for the purpose of trying to have s*x with anyone other than your wife, you are committing fornication or adultery. S*x outside of the marriage covenant hurts people and society.
The purpose of defining ceremonial uncleanness in the verses you cite in Leviticus 15 is explained in verse 31 "'You must keep the Israelites separate from things that make them unclean, so they will not die in their uncleanness for defiling my dwelling place, which is among them.'" God is absolutely not going to tolerate uncleanness or impurity in his presence even if it is not their fault. The Holiness of God is absolute and mankind has to learn that. These regulations do not mean that the women are in sin, not at all. It is just a normal part of living in these bodies of flesh which are born impure because of the sin of Adam. These laws help to define “ impurity” which temporarily prevents their participation in the ceremonies of the tabernacle or temple.
4. We are not living under God’s Theocracy of Moses’ time but under the democracy of the United States. Slavery has been abolished in the civilized world. The world of those ancient days had slaves in almost every society but this was not God’s perfect will for mankind. God permitted this practice and had regulations concerning slaves just as God had regulations for divorce but did not approve of it. When questioned about why God seemed to approve of divorce by issuing regulations about a certificate of divorce Jesus said, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.” Neither were multiple wives, nor concubines, nor slavery ever intended by God. Men hungry for power forced enslavement. Anything that enslaves, torments or defiles is not of God.
5. You mention Exodus 35:2 which commands the death penalty to any Israelite who violates the Sabbath. If you and your neighbor were living in Israel at that time under God’s theocracy and he insisted on working on the Sabbath then yes, death to the neighbor. But you are not living under God’s Theocracy but rather the democracy of the United States. If you are a believer then I would be more concerned about obeying God in this area since God penalized believers who disobeyed with physical death under his theocracy. If you are going to heaven you will be living under God’s Theocracy. So do you want to please the King? If you and your neighbor are unbelievers then the Sabbath has no value to you.
6. You raise the issue of the dietary laws that God gave the Israelites. Certain creatures could carry disease. Some of these creatures were scavengers eating unclean debris and refuse. Since God was trying to get the Israelites to take on the attribute of Holiness (since He is Holy), it is natural to avoid unclean things being taken into our bodies. The eating of unclean foods might make you sick and make you ceremonially unclean but there was no death penalty involved unless you tried to enter the temple or tabernacle. Homos*xuality is clearly a worse sin because it goes against God’s design and the sanctity of human life. It is a selfish sin with a reckless pursuit of pleasure in which the sinners like their sin more than they care about God and his ways. The Bible says if a society allows homos*xuality to exist without sanctioning against it then God says that the land will become defiled and vomit out its inhabitants. [Leviticus 18:26-28] And this applies to non-believing nations too. And because of the vast number of people like you, Jim, we are now considered to be a non-believing defiled nation where that which is “right” is called “wrong” and that which is “wrong” is called “right.” [Isaiah 5:20]
7. You cite Leviticus 21:20 about how people with defects may not approach the altar of God. The context is clear. This chapter is only talking about priests. You may not be a priest and make ritual offerings to Holy God with a physical defect. That does not make you unloved by God, it just means you cannot be a priest before a Holy God if you have a defect.
8. You cite Leviticus 19:27 about how God said, "'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.” This verse is sandwiched between commands that forbid sorcery and verses forbidding the cutting of one’s self on behalf of the dead. The context is explained in Matthew Henry’s Commentary of the Bible. Heathens practiced the worship of the hosts of heaven by shaving their heads to resemble the celestial globe. The Israelites were not to follow this pagan practice of that day.
9. Again, it is God’s desire that people who want to live with him throughout eternity get to know the things that please him. No one likes to see their children play with dead carcasses. Touching a dead carcass transmits uncleanliness even today. However, animal skins, once they are cleaned and processed, are good for useful purposes. Jesus even mentions that new wine is placed in new wineskins.
10. The instructions in Leviticus 19:19 about fields and fabrics were an exercise in learning obedience towards God. There would be a blessing to those who regarded the Lord’s words and obeyed. As for cursing and blaspheming, we have to remember that we are not living under God’s Theocracy but under the democracy of the United States. But if you want to go to heaven to be with God, then you are, in effect, saying you want God’s way over your life. It is not a crime to commit adultery, engage in homos*xuality, and blaspheme God within the democracy of the United States. But what do you think is going to be the fate of people who engage in these activities when they stand before God in HIS heaven if they are not sorry for their sins and do not repent while on this earth?
Yes Jim, God’s word is eternal and unchanging.

More proof that many secular explanations about the past are biased and wrong.
The Bible clearly teaches that life begins at conception. We see this in the life of Samson in Judges chapter 13.
Judges 13:1-5 (NASB20) Now the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD handed them over to the Philistines for forty years. And there was a man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was infertile and had not given birth to any children. Then the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold now, you are infertile and have not given birth; but you will conceive and give birth to a son. And now, be careful not to drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing. For behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and no razor shall come upon his head, for the boy shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he will begin to save Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”
One of the rules a Nazarite had to follow was to avoid grapes and anything made from grapes such as grape juice or wine. Because Samson would be a Nazirite all his life, the angel of the Lord (Jesus) told his mother that she must start complying with the rule to abstain from grapes even before she conceived Samson. That way, the Nazirite law would be in effect in Samson’s entire life from the moment of conception (the beginning of his life) and onward. This teaching from the Bible is for Christians to use to show that the Lord considers the beginning of human life at the moment of conception.
Knowledge is never finalized but constantly changes as new data comes in. Some of this data is causing scientists to rethink their understanding of time and space, which could lead to a revision of their calculations for the size and age of the universe.
“The big bang theory is massively deficient … or completely wrong” “The big bang theory is massively deficient … or completely wrong”
Revelation 5:10 (NASB20) "You have made them into a kingdom and priests to our God, and they will reign upon the earth."
I say that sin is selfishness. But even if you disagree, I think we can all agree that selfishness is the primary expression of sin.
It is no wonder that God does not make personal appearances just to prove he exists to people who have closed their minds to his existence. The sovereign Creator of this universe does not perform at the command or request of man to prove he exists like a circus animal. That would be demeaning to God. God has declared in the Bible that if someone truly seeks him, they will find him. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (NIV Jeremiah 29:13). If anyone really wants to know the truth about God, they can find him. But many people like their life apart from the God of the Bible just fine and do not want to change. Or they rationalize that God will allow them to do whatever they want to do.
Do we really take Jesus at his word?
