I’ve been working on a graphic novel lately: Hodag
It’s built with layers of pastel, fabric, plastic, and other materials directly onto my scanner. The method is awkward and near impossible to keep clean, so remnants of past pages leak into other places.
It’ll consist of five stories set in northern Wisconsin about fear, hidden or temporary lives, and a shared trauma.
These photos are mostly from the first of its stories Wade 1. The last two photos are a proof of concept for the method and a photo of the Hodag, a strange cryptid/tourist attraction from the area.
