The Pamlico Sound
Joyful contemporary Funk'n Soul inspired by the classics with an audience-interactive stage show.
What drives us and makes us happy and fun to be around is love: we love to dance with you; we love to shout with you; we love to make bad jokes with you; we love you.
Hugs. Praise. Encouragement. Sitting quietly with someone. Sharing their joy and understanding their grief. Listening to their hearts. Leaving them alone when that’s what they need. Doing what we can when they need help. Dancing with everyone we can. Smiling. Not holding anger against anyone. Apologizing asap when we realize we might have hurt someone. Saying thank you. Laughing with as many people as possible. Some of the countless ways to say I love you.
FoCo Friends: go eat summa that good Music City Hot Chicken next Tuesday December 5th and automatically support Fort Collins Music Association 🍗😋💜💥!
Eat, Play, Eat, Sing, Eat, Dance, Eat, Repeat. We’re so glad you’re here. Thank you for coming. Pass the peas. Thanks for everything! Every day. Uh, who made this? It’s SO delicious. More please! Thanks again!
Goes great with catchup: on the Eve of Guy Fawkes’ Day we did a little thing at The Riverside, was s’posed t’ be mostly a thing with CU students, turned out more a little TPS thing with some variations on a theme. Anyway that’s the thing about things: ain’t ever nothin’ but a thing. You know we had a good time, we always do. We know you did, you love a good time. Makes us no nevermind how we got there, there we got.
We’re taking the rest of the year to love on our lovables and prepare to record our next album, which we’ll do at the estimable Color Red studio in Denver. Our next scheduled show is The Pamlico Sound + iZCALLi with Libelula featuring Wrenn & Ian at The Fox Theatre on January 20th. We’re pretty positive that’s gonna be a pretty big thing. Like you: Pretty. Big. Positive. And definitely A Thing.
TONIGHT at in Denver, with the liberating & the ferociously talented . GET THERE! Ticket link in bio. UH!!
Got TWO SHOWS LEFT IN 2023, babies. Next SAT NOV 4 at The Riverside in Boulder and FRI NOV 10 at The Black Buzzard in Denver. After that we prepare to record our next EP at Color Red and headline The Fox Theatre on 1/20/24. For the Riverside show, scan the QR code in the lower right corner and send 10 bucks—or send a direct message to Will Baumgartner—to get on the Will Call list. For the Black Buzzard show, go to the ticket link in our bio. Yowsah Yowsah Yowsah, y’all.
Friday at Many Hands One Heart gala, we had our hearts and hands full while attendees filled the floor with happy feet. These shots, because their photographer mostly caught us during soundcheck, don’t really show what actually happened when we took the stage: instant crowd rush to the dance floor, and they stayed there for our entire set. Shows t’ go ya: a room full of rich folks in formal attire definitely does NOT mean a room full of stiffs. They grooved at least as hard as any buncha hippies ‘n’ hipsters we’ve seen, a real sweet scene if y’know what I mean. Afore we move on: if you’re unfamiliar with what IAS does, check out the way they get disabled children and adults out on the slopes of and coach them to heights of performance and fun they might’ve never achieved—or even imagined they might. This event raised 150K—twice what they raised last year!—and we’re so grateful to have been part of it. NOW: consider throwing a few more $$ their way to make it an even better year. Y’ain’t gotta be rolling in dough t’ toss a biscuit in the bag. 🫶🫵💜
Tonight’s venue for The Pamlico Sound: Pikes Peak Resort.
When Halloween still hasn’t lost its sheen and Thanksgiving is more a mindstate than a calendar date, TPS says it’s time to throw a—oh, let’s call it a THANKSAWEENIE DanceParty. And quite Frank N Furterly, we can’t think of two acts we’d rather get grilled with than the libidinously liberating Libélula The Band and that felicitous lady of song . If y’all got any smarts in your skulls, you’ll carve the gourd and pour the gravy with us Friday 11/10 at in downtown Denver. TICKET LINK IN BIO, especially good with Xtra Mustard & Onions.
What’s so special about OCTOBER 12th, sez you? Sez us, IT’S ‘s BIRTHDAY, so THAT’S WHAT. The beauty of everything since this man joined the band. We could keep telling you how great The Fabulous Boogienauts are. We could easily. We’re showing you now. This video, from their opening set at our Mercury Cafe Denver show about a week ago, is a fine introduction. It was our first time sharing a stage; we assure all that it will not be our last.
Holy Shi’ite, Friday at was one helluva party! More photos and vids to come, including some fan footage we shot of fantastic openers —UH!
Any song is a Disco song if you want to dance badly enough.

T’ain’t gonna get wilder’n THIS: FRIDAY at Mercury Cafe Denver with: Us freakazoids, The Fabulous Boogienauts + MOXXY (who’ll be touring out of L. A.). We’re also bringing out our fave stilt-dancing friends Galadriel Sardonicus & Keith Bob so… yeah. And we have some sincere advice for ya: tickets are flying, so you’d be wise to use the ticket link in our comment below before Friday (by which you’ll not only ensure admission, but also avoid the five dollar day-of-show price increase). Whomp skronk thomp bomp!
* Clearly, “make a fool of yourself” is Big Irony the way it’s used here: cuz you’re one of the wisest people in the world when you cut loose on the floor.
** Also one of the greatest things about the dance floor is that Every Single Person Who Dances Is Exactly As Cool As Every Other Person Who Dances.
*** Let’s extend that to a further truth: The people who, for whatever reason, aren’t dancing? They’re enriched and coolified just by being there. The fact that at the moment they’re not dancing does not in any way shape or form make them less groovy than the dancers.
**** I just made up what’s likely to become one of my new favorite words. Coolified. That’s a word now. Notify Merriam-Webster or whoever’s in charge of that s**t.
***** This still is from a movie I just watched and greatly enjoyed, a Norwegian film called “The Worst Person In The World”.
Just announced! Playing The Black Buzzard at Oskar Blues November 10 w/ support from our fab friends Libélula The Band and Felisa Hernandez —UH!
The Pamlico Sound’s first show of 2024’s gonna be with two of my favorite local bands, at our favorite Boulder venue. (Lineup hints? Sure! What’s the Aztec festival known as “Rebirth”? And what’s Spanish for “Dragonfly”?)
Can we get a HAPPY BIRTHDAY from the congregation for our super sexy sizzlin’ saxophonist Eric Natsuhiro Jordan??? Anyone who’s seen/heard us in the years Eric’s been with the band already knows this guy is a MONSTER player and a load of fun. We’re a little shamefaced to be posting this so late in His Day, but make no mistake, we feel incredibly fortunate to have him in the PamFam. Here’s to many more years of good times with you Eric!

The Pamlico Sound with Thunderboogie, Wild Love Tigress at Fox Theatre was such a rampantly ravishing radical radiant rapacious rager and we are SO grateful to The Fox Theatre, Thunderboogie, Wild Love Tigress—and Xtra Especially all of YOU who came, danced, sweated and screamed with us. It’s never been more true: There is no US without U.
Most of these pix are from our good friend and videographer/photographer Jason Reschka; a couple are from our friend/fan Steve Hoge. Plenty more professional video and photos coming soon. Can we get a FUNK YEAH from the congregation???
