This is the newest project for the Brigade of the American Revolution which Dakota Lee and I have been working and planning. We are very excited about this symposium. We are honored to have the Debra Najecki Endowement involved with this enlightened learning experience.
We have a diverse and knowledgeable line up of presenters.
I am extremely proud to feature the wonderful Dr. Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. She is a personal favorite and has been instrumental in my journey into living history and material culture. Please make every effort to attend this symposium. We will also have a few select merchants set up during the weekend. I truly hope to see you there. More details to come. The symposium will be held at Washington's Crossing Historic Park in PA.

Yestreday, it was blustery and cold outside. Inside at the Albert Wisner Public Libray in Warwick, was warm and inviting. I had the honor of sharing my PowerPoint presentation about the Boston Tea Party and the history of tea as a commodity/beverage as enjoyed in England and it's Colonies. I also had a selection of my Georgian teawares on display.
We then offered a tasting of teas. Bohea, Hyson (a favorite of George Washington & Thomas Jefferson), and Raspberry Leaf tea ( one of the many LIberty Teas consumed here in the Colonies) were enjoyed by the 60 or so attendees. The gathered group sat at tables with platters of buttered bread as well as shortbread and enjoyed tea and conversation.
Many thanks to the Albert Wisner Public Library for hosting this well attended (we had a long wait list to attend) event. Thank you to Sue Gardner for organizing the wonderful afternoon. I also would like to thank Jane Glazman, Mary Ann Knight and helpers from the Friends of Hathorn historical society who lent a hand in preparing the teas and treats.

Martha Washington’s Lip Salve…..a new product from the ever growing apothecary items offered by The Georgian Kitchen. This salve is based on a favorite receipt of Martha Washington. I have made a vegetarian version by changing out the hog’s lard and using coconut oil. It is colored with alkanet root and subtly scented with rose and bergamot.

Nelly Custis Lewis wrote, in 1835, to a friend - “…I am very glad my lip salve pleases you. It was my beloved grandmother’s recipe….”5 oz screw top tin
$10.00

New offering.....red cedar spills.

Spills are long curls of wood, which were lit by a tinder or a hearth fire and then transferred to a candle, oil lamp or stove. Often keep in a spill vase or holder, they were common place until matches became mass produced.

They look great in a spill vase on your mantel or use to light candles, etc.

10 spills, each spill is approx. 10" in length, tied with h**p cord - $12.00 each bundle.

Another new offering.......working from The Toilet of Flora for inspiration, White and Marechal Hair Powder. These hair powders sold out at the Fort Loudoun Market Fair.

The White Hair Powder- a blend of cornstarch and arrowroot powder ( to allay any gluten allergies/issues). It has a warm, slightly green floral scent, some say redolent of violets.

The Marechal Powder - white hair powder fragrantly perfumed and lightly tinted brown from an array of 18th century spices and lavender. It is also wonderful to use as a body powder.

Both powders should be sifted before use in dressing your hair.... looking for a "lighter than snow" consistency. In the near future, addtional scents and colors will be offered. As well as a vegan version of hair pomatum. Also, a vegan version of Martha Washington's favorite lip salve.

Large corked glass bottles, with period French fashion/coiffure prints. The bottles are 6.5" ht x 3.5" dia.

White Hair Powder, 13 oz. - $25 each
Marechal Hair Powder, 12.5 oz. - $30 each.
