How’s the lockdown ‘n’ chill going friends?
I’ll start our little update with some good news: You can now buy e-gift cards for your loved ones via our online store! Giving them between £25-200 to spend when they’re ready....whoop! 💚
Now, to catch you up on our recent happenings: we were due to release some new prints & block colours for you in May...which sadly, due to this global pause, won’t happen until a little later 😞 (around the beginning of Summer hopefully🤞)
..kinda bummed about that! But, it gives us some extra time to pause and refine pretty much everything we do AND make the the designs we were due to produce the even cooler. Keep your eyes in stories & live over the next few weeks, I’ll be needing your input to make these newbies the best yet! 🙌

Shift...🌱
What we’re moving through together feels like growing pains on a global scale.
The future is uncertain and it feels like the earth has taken charge in the most powerful and radical of ways...so all we can really do at this point is breathe and ride the wave.
Accept the discomfort but take time to watch the spring come into bloom.
Accept your fears but draw your awareness inwards: sit, breathe and feel your way thorough it all.
Accept the uncertainty of our future but make space to do all those things you love that you ‘never had time to do’ before because you were too ‘busy’
Connect to our earth, watch her take her power back. She is our biggest teacher, so use this time to listen and learn.
We’re taking time to stop are recalibrate what NITARA will look like after this wave has past. Safe to say, a new era is coming for us all

We’re committed to practicing what we preach: Yoga first, business second. Always.
NITARA was founded and designed by me, 👋 fashion designer turned Ashtanga yoga teacher, committed to sharing all I’ve learned through living yoga...and now creating a yoga inspired brand, that actually has yoga woven through every. single. garment.
Yoga + business is always an awkward pairing; but I really think that, done properly, it can be the formula for a massively positive change 💥
Yoga teaches us to first find peace within, so we can then create peace without: inner compassion will then filter trough into compassion for others & for our planet...but that all starts with you and your mat.
So, if my mission here is really to create a culture of peace and harmony with our planet: as a business, we’ve gotta follow suit. First we do the yoga, then we do the things 🤘 ...even if that means 5am alarms every. damn. day! ...sometimes 4:20am actually...but let’s not go there hahaha

We want you to start with you, strive every day to make peace and find compassion within yourself. The first step towards saving our planet is so save ourselves (...can I get an amen on that one?) 🙌🙏
While you do that, we will take it into our hands so clear our beautiful, perfect home of the massive build up of clutter we currently have going on ✊ By giving landfill plastic new life and turning it in to beautiful pieces of clothing for you to move & breathe in.
Did you know that not only does recycled fabrics clear plastic waste, but it also uses 70% LESS ENERGY to make than virgin polyester? 🤘 YUP! Pretty amazing hey?

Did you know that every single one of our signature prints starts like this: drawn by hand, on paper?
Yup! We’re kinda old school like that, we still have paper 😄
This one here, our flock print 🦚 started life as a doodle on a scrap piece of paper, sat in a coffee shop in Piccadilly Circus; taking a break from a busy day. That doodle became a repeated print, the colours inspired by a random photo I’d seen on Pinterest - a blue hallway with one saffron yellow light, I just liked that contrast! ...then a few moths later that doodle came to life and grew to become possibly our most loved print by you guys 💙

To all of our friends and family out in Australia we’re praying, and action-ing, for you...
I’m sure you’ve seen all of the stats and harrowing apocalypse-like photos you need to by now...what is happening to our planet right now is absolutely heart breaking and cannot be ignored!
I urge you to donate anything you can to help - If your in Aus you can donate clothes to those in need too! - and we will be donating 20% of all our sales made this month to the Australian Red Cross.

This is not an Australia only issue, this is a global wake up call on a MASSIVE MASSIVE scale: Our Mother Earth, our HOME as a whole, is being destroyed.
As a global community we can make a change. Each small step towards living in harmony with our planet will help any further damage to our home in the future.

Our Story
Born from a need for mat-wear that's an honest reflection of compassionate and conscious living, NITARA is an expression of just that. We make contemporary yoga and activewear that leaves as little impact upon our planet as possible, our signature fabric is made from 86% recycled plastic, so in fact it helps to clear some of our footprint.
Utilising limited edition hand drawn prints, our collection is ever evolving. Each design serving as a moment in time, a train of thought or a reflection upon our journey.
Our Promise
The word 'NITARA नितर' means to be deeply rooted or grounded in sanskrit, and is actually the spiritual name given to our founder Ellie by her teacher on her first trip to India.
