Results:
Pull-ups: 6 —> 14
3 mile run: 28min —> 22m39s
++ Added over 150lbs total to his 5-rep max for squat, bench & deadlift.

Does Cardio kill your gains?!
Often we see the images of a marathon runner compared to a sprinter when it comes to the cardio & muscle gain argument.
The marathon runner has barely any muscle mass compared to sprinters which are often heavily muscled although still quite light.
It’s not totally flawed but you’re not going to all of a sudden lose all of your muscle as soon as you hit the treadmill.
High level sprinters are predominantly fast twitch so build muscle more easily and can effectively carry more without affecting their sprinting ability.
In comparison the most elite marathon runners need to be as efficient & as light as possible. Being jacked would be a massive disadvantage.
Even serious bodybuilders who are focusing on gaining as much muscle as humanly possible do cardio.
Having a well developed cardiorespiratory system allows you to recover faster between sets, days of training & allows you to repeatedly train at high intensities.
Cardio is an absolute staple for longevity, VO2 max development, and should be a part of every single persons training regime.
It will not kill your gains, you just need to make sure you’re using the appropriate dose for your goals.

Murph is a Hero Workout that stands as a testament to the legacy of U.S. Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy, who died heroically in the line of duty in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005.
Murph is performed for time. It starts with a 1-mile run, followed by a grueling sequence of 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, and 300 air squats. The workout concludes with another 1-mile run.
You may break up the pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats as needed.
For an extra challenge you should add body armor or a weight vest weighing 20lbs (9kg)
Strategy
The best way to approach the Murph workout is after completing your run, break down your pull-ups, push-ups and squats into manageable sets.
The most common way is to do 20 sets of 5 pull-ups, 10 push-ups then 20 squats. This way you can keep moving fast from one exercise to the next and can limit breaks.
