And just like that, FS UK 2024 has come to an end. Over the last few days the team has been taking some well deserved time off to catch up with sleep and process the successes of comp.

We are incredibly proud of the performance of both our IC and EV teams, with the IC team passing 5 out of 6 of the required physical checks, only being stopped by a driveshaft failure during the brake testing. Additionally, our EV concept team placed an incredible 7th place overall.

This success fills us all with great confidence for our first EV car next year, with the support of our incredible faculty advisor Theo and technician Stevie, we have no doubt that we will be able to succeed this coming year.

Thanks must also be extended to the teams that supported us along the way and showed the camaraderie that Formula Student is most famous for. We thank you for your support and look forward to competing alongside you this coming year.

Finally, I would like to thank all of our sponsors and partners for making this year possible. From iced coffees to start off those brisk competition mornings just right, to perfect carbon work or industry leading data gathering systems, without your support we would not have been able to make it this far. We're looking forward to working with you this coming year.

We are so excited to share that is supporting us this year! They've generously helped with the development of the battery management system through helping us obtain chips that are specialised for the BMS. Moreover, their technical advice and support has been crucial to the overall growth of the EV team. Huge thanks to the team at Tesla!

We'd like to show appreciation for our long-term sponsor MathWorks . MATLAB has been used by the whole team to design and validate decisions throughout the year. Thank you MathWorks for the support! We are looking forward to work together this season.

Every year we host a CAD course to introduce new members to good modelling and drawing practices. This year the CAD course has been held on OnShape, our new team sponsor.
When asked about using OnShape for the course our CAD & Drawings Supervisor, Harrison said: "Moving to a new CAD software was daunting, and it has been a learning curve for everyone taking part, including myself. However, the high-quality education resources provided by Onshape have made this transition very smooth. All the students have excelled massively throughout the past couple months and I can clearly see their improvements as each week progresses. Everyone takes on the constructive feedback that both me and Padrig give them. As we approach the end, it’s getting harder and harder to find ways that they can improve further!"
Thank you PTC for supporting us this year!! We look forward to continuing our partnership.

Over the christmas break, the EV team went to Bristol to take part in a high voltage vehicle operations training event at Fellten. Everyone that went is now certified with a level 2 and 3 City & Guilds qualification. We are ready and excited to see the progress we can make on our EV journey in this new year!

In the many hours of overtime getting ready for competition, we were fuelled by two things:
The desire to see the car on the track.
Jimmy's Iced Coffee.
Thank you Jimmy's Iced Coffee for gifting us a very generous care-package. The team is delighted to have fuel for the road ahead. We look forward to working with you on exciting projects this coming year.

For the last two weeks, we have been participating in raising awareness of men's health issues and male-specific cancers by completing the Movember challenge!

From the team we have Cameron, Mikolaj, Rob, Will and Padrig, growing out their moustaches to raise money for the cause.

Join us by growing out your own moustache, completing a fitness challenge this month, or support the charity directly by donating using the link in bio!
We are looking forward to seeing the progress at the end of the month so stay tuned!

"The workshop access, coolest place in the uni I'm not gonna lie."

What is the most important thing you've learnt about FS?

Last Friday's excitement didn't stop at Learn to Win!!! We were also given the incredible opportunity by our good friends at Carbon Technology Ltd (CTL) to join them on a Corporation Day at Ginetta Cars.

We were given a tour of the factory where several famous racecars were on display including both 2019 WEC LMP1 entries. The tour also included 1-on-1 driver coaching and running on the full cockpit simulator, where Alex and Padrig set 2nd and 4th place times respectively!

We would like to extend a massive thank you to Jing from CTL for facilitating this experience for us. It was a pleasure to get to know you and the CTL team while chatting over all the amazing vehicles that Ginetta have on display. We are looking forward to continuing working with you over the coming years.
