~~~~~~~~
Program Notes:
UNITED FOR UKRAINE ROGUE VALLEY (U4U) began bringing families to safety in our community in May 2022 . As of December 2023, 24 families (representing 60 individuals) are housed here in the valley, primarily in Ashland.
To date, United for Ukraine has hosted families that have shared units within their home, three churches that are providing homes, and two Ashland couples who have paid monthly rent for a family.
The hosts are a critical resource for U4U, providing homes for the guest families, and helping them navigate life here. Support teams assist guest families in accessing social services, medical care and transportation, and in enrolling children in school, acquiring interpreters, teaching ESL, and obtaining jobs.
Each daughter, mother, grandmother, or aunt arrives with a story about what drove them to pack what they could carry, taking their children by the hand and carrying babies to make their way to safer places. Now, in a different country where a different language is spoken, and new traditions are being practiced, they depend on the good will of strangers.
COME AND HEAR their stories, and learn about the difficult choices ahead.
